Palmin Sunset Plaza
Ranked #53 of 156 Hotels in Kusadasi
Reviewed 20 May 2013

Just back from a week in the Sunset plaza - and it was lovely. The rooms were spacious get one overlooking the pool, a bit extra but worth it. The breakfast was fantastic - i've seen some reviews saying its not good? I dont understand it had everything,Yogurt, cereal, eggs, specialy made omlette's,fruit , cheese ect, you wont get a full Irish but you can get one later on in the day what more do ya want!!
Staff were very helpful, the quickest up to my room from arriving ever.
Best of all the Palmin hotels in my opinion, there is lots of grass so you dont feel you are on top of each other.
Its a bit out but the Dolmin bus comes every 5 mins and costs a euro takes 5 mins to ladies beach and about 15 into town.
I was never in Turkey before and found it fantastic, very friendly people, clean, lovely food cant recomend it enough.
Pointers -
you can walk to ladies beach but its uneven ground and i wouldnt walk back unless its light
you can change money Euro to Turkish lira in the hotel - most places take both but get lira they take it everywhere - but be carefull the hotel will not change from lira to euros.
The atms at ladys beach right at the end at the taxi rank, only give lira if you want euros you get them at the bank link in town.
Go to Ephasus its fantastic
be carefull when haggling make sure they give you the right size but its good fun and expected
Stay in at the hotel for the barbeque night - the food is fantastic and the entertainment is very good.
the private beach is a bit of a way down -it belongs to the Sealight beside the hotel and go through it down the steps - its worth it gorgeous dont know what beach some reviews are on but its perfectly clean and lovely
some places will actually collect you outside the hotel and drop you back - Murphys irish pub, Saran restaurant.
Go to Rosies on Ladys beach - fantastic food and great price.
Dont ask for Clonakilty in the hotel - there are pleanty of Irish pubs all over the place with irish grub. In fact dont eat Irish you are away try everything.
Try a Turkish bath in the hotel its lovely and you will feel great afterwards.

Ive been very impressed with all the timings - if they say you are leaving at 4.10 you will leave at 4.10 so be carfull if you are on the night flight back - you only have about 10 mins in the Duty free before boarding.

Be a bit wary of Dell boy he has a shop on ladies beach up to the left- he was the only one we found a bit sleezy and pushy.

my only reservation was there didnt seem to be a really quiet policy at night when all the young wans come back from Bar street felt the staff should be shushing a bit more.
all in all excellent and i willl be back
Think thats all the pointers

I have just returned from a fantastic weeks holiday in the sunset plaza. Let me start by saying this place is not the Four Seasons but it is a very good holiday resort that is fantastic value. On arrival we were greeted by the hotel staff and our luggage was delivered to our room. Rooms are comfortable, modern and spotlessly clean. To be honest the level of cleanliness through out the hotel is excellent. The only disadvantages with the bedroom was there was only 1 pillow per person, additional were sent to us on request and there was no duvet just a blanket. I know it's turkey but a light duvet would have been welcomed.
The pool is magnificent and it was lovely to lounge around it for the day. Breakfast wasn't the hotels greatest strength as it lacked bowls of fresh fruits and individual pots of yoghurt you like when abroad. However they had a designated omelette chef who made your omelette to order right in front of you.
The location is also an issue, the hotel is further away from town/ladies beach/the harbour than others however you can take the dolmas pretty much out side the door of the hotel to all these places for just over a euro.
We had dinner in the hotel on 3 nights and it was superb. The food was fresh and flavoursome and the service first class! One of the waiters got angry when I poured my own wine explaining it was he's job! The team are first class and good fun, they deserved their tips. Some of the team are fluent in English where as others have little so that can be frustrating at times, but this is turkey and we had no Turkish not even the basics so fair play to them.
Overall this is a fantastic hotel, if I had read the trip advisor reviews before booking I probably would not have booked. This hotel is well worth a visit, don't expect luxury expect a decent holiday, good food, friendly staff all at a very good rate. I am travelling to turkey in July but staying in a different hotel, had that not been prearranged I would be booking the sunset plaza again without hesitation. Thank you for a great holiday.

Was in the horrors before i went to this hotel after reading some of the reviews on this site, i would just like to say it is a fantastic hotel and they cater for young and old alike. We are just back after spending a week there and i would definately recommend it people even though it is that bit further out than other hotels but the dolmus is just outside the gates and is very frequent. Staff were all extremely helpful and very friendly. Entertainment was very good and runs throughout the day. I would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view otherwise your balcony is only looking at a load of bushes

Just returned home from this hotel a group of girls just looking for a relaxing break! Where do I start??? Airport employees very rude and didn't offer to help us with our luggage. We loaded our own cases onto the bus as they driver and others watched. Arrived at hotel and got our room. Our room was situated on the top floor and end of the hotel by the roadside and main gate so we were subject to noise pollution with constant traffic, buses, trucks and delivery vans to both hotels who use the main entrance. We asked reception to be moved and he informed us it was 35eu per head!!! The hotel manager was an extremely rude man, he never acknowledged us at all. The rep arrived. We didn't find her helpful at all. In our opinion and on speaking to other guests during our stay she is also an extremely rude person with zero people skills, 1. We rented a safe.... didn't work, so the maintenance guy came to assist. still no joy so another guy no english (the porter) arrived with safe key and knew the system BUT no joy, then another guy arrived no english (another porter) to discover that the battery was gone!!! This process took 2 hours to discover with the manager finally attending and I REQUESTED they take the door away OR change of room but to no avail! he never once apologised to us, he never explained the the reason just said its a "hotel issue " we stated that we had lost 2 hours sitting around and cancelled our meal out! we had to carry our personal posessions with us that night!!! On arrival home approx 2am the porter met with us with the door,,,,, he attached it and still it wasnt working.. it worked for them but not us so we said to leave it till morning. Next morning we had the maintence guy up again, no joy no english, then another and another and the receptionist....... so thats 4 new bodies trying to sort out the safe. Again I was sitting for 2 whole hours while discovering what to do?????? this went on for 2 nights we had to carry our stuff around with us. The room was fine, apart from the noise BUT the light sensor fell off the wall, the shower head broke, the door wasnt secure, need I go on?? on approaching our rep to explain the situation she was unsympathetic and had an answer for everything and then again not a single apology. the breakfast was very basic, dirty table linen, and the staff need to be trained in people skills, but if the top don't have it what chance have his staff!!! NOT all staff were like this a few waiters, reception and bar staff were thorough. but the rest need a duracel battery or two!! The entertainment was disgraceful and the comedy sketches are not very pc and family based they are ridiculously offensive. Watch when changing money at the hotel sometimes you get a receipt but mostly not and they seem to have their own rate!!!! Thanks to our pal who sang a few songs to keep the punters happy you wouldnt think they were on holiday!!!! one member of the amination team was fully with it the rest just a disaster................ never again would we ever return to this hotel as we are very disappointed with the week as it was highly recommended to us. Turkey overall was too expensive maybe its because its the new season that the prices are hiked up but unfortunately we have no desire to return ever!!!!! Apart from the bad weather we met friendly people and had the craic but sorry palminsunsetplaza we will never return I do hope you learn from this and pull up your socks!! the Irish will keep going to your hotel but do them a favor and give value for money and a bit of hospitality can go along way. I'm sure Mamet the manager was glad to see the back of us!!!

stayed here for 7 nights, wat a nightmare, the pool area is nice, the rooms are basic...but EVERYTHING else was terrible. The restaurant, the bar the breakfaast room were all very poor, the breakfast is awful.
A lot of eneven ground all around the hotel so not suitablefor elderly, kids or anyone unless u watch were ur walkling at all times..
Service was only acceptable when u tip well otherwise the waiters rudely ignore u.
Childrens club was a ramshackle room u wudnt put ur dogs in.
Path to the beach is hasardous to say the least and there is no beach any better nearby either! the beach is dirty with hardly any beds that arent broken,
choose a different tour company and enjoy a good holiday somewhere else, i wish i had..

Room Tip: just dont go pick a different hotel.

Checked in at 4.30am and to have a coach load of people running around at that hour in the morning looking for their rooms in a complex that is very pooly lit-up and on very uneven ground(1 lady, 40ish broke her leg), not a great start and then to have the guy arrive with your luggage at 7.45am and to show he was well pissed off as he did not get a "TIP". I had no YTL (Turkish Lira).
You will find this alot in turkey, EVERYONE in turkey has their hand out. Girls & groups of girls are treated "very well". The locals consider it open season. A lot of them think European Visa!! I have been to Turkey several times as my Parents live their. Each time i have heard of girls being ROOFIED and attacked!
Breakfast is in a large hall down a serious flight of stairs and everyone arrives at 9.45am as they close at 10, by which time their is very little left. We are on holiday, give us a break. Another chance to make money by selling you left overs from the morning buffet! Hygiene
standards are not the same as Ireland by a long shot and expect a dodgy tummy!
The rooms are modern without a fridge so do not bring food. The hotel do not want you to bring food anyway. If you put minerals etc into gear bags they cannot see what you have. I dont think they have a right to search you!
Taxis are ripoffs, agree a price as the Sunset Plaza is out a good bit from the city.
They play loud music all day around the pool and the entertainment in the bar at night is poor with alot of audience participation!!! breakdancing crap!!
Give Turkey a go by all means, but common sence please people.
Change your money in Change offices and banks, as reception charge higher commision! As much as 10%. So for a 100euro thats 20YTL. 3beers, A steak main course.

i really dont want anyone else wasting their money by going to this hotel with the idea that it is as good as the pictures that have been put up. its quite clear that the majority of the pics are professional and not taken by holiday makers, they are mainly of the pool area only!
ASK YOURSELF WHY THEIR ARE NONE OF THE RESTAURANT, RECEPTION, KIDS CLUB, OR BAR, then look at all of the pics that have been put up and you will see the broken paths, the steep stairs to the restaurant, the shabby state of the restaurant, the awful kids club, the shop that sells nothing but crisps and lollies and milk..literally,bearing in mind that your NOT ALLOWED to buy ANYTHING to eat or drink outside of the hotel to bring back to your room, there is a notice to tell you that you may be searched at reception and have stuff taken off you!
Entertainment is very poor and dated, it is held in the reception so if you want to sit and have a quiet drink there is no chance.
There were NO activities for children while we were there, apart from one of the boys that worked at the hotel playing 'ball' in the hotel pool with some other lads.
The 'suite' that we were told we were to get was just two rooms next to each other so bathing children etc was done running from one room to another.
For two nights we were up most of the night with something rolling along the roof and banging against a wall, it was every few minutes, we told the reception staff and it wasnt until we demanded to be moved that they did something about it
Of all of the other families that travelled at the same time, not one of them wasnt disappointed with the facilities at this hotel.
All of these things add to making a holiday miserable, and thats just what it did to mine and my family. The beach is filthy and tiny, not at all like the beautiful pictures that are posted, we couldnt find more than three loungers that wasnt broken or thrown into heaps against the wall.
The most annoying thing was that when we got home and wrote to Sunway, they didnt give a dam, they wasnt even interested in seeing the pictures i had taken so that they could improve things.

Room Tip: just dont go...
