“NO SUSHINE HOTEL”
Reviewed 23 September 2009

This Hotel is in no shape or form a 4* Hotel. The rooms are TINY the LIFTS kept breaking down. If you enjoy good or at least hot FOOD THIS HOTEL is not for you as the food is of a very POOR STANDARD.
The POOL and SUNDECK are in the shade most of the time and only the very brave would go for a swim as the pool get's NO SUNSHINE at all and is very very COLD.
The rooms are kept clean and tidy by hard working ladies.
If you make a complaint you are ignored and no action is taken by managment

Have just returned from 10 days staying at this hotel.
It is not a 4 star m0re 2/3, rooms are small, their is no satellite TV as advertised just BBC 24 hours.

Same gripes about he pool but the worst thing was the food!!!!!!! breakfast was ok if you liked turkish fare which was very hard boiled eggs every day. The cooks have mastered the art of re0cycling the previous days dinner into following days breakfast.
The dinners for the first 4 days were shocking and we had to eat out ; seemed to improve slightly for the duration of holiday but by then we were resigned to eating out each evening.
On a plus side Ladie and long beach were very nice
And you must try Casablanca Restaurent food is brilliant.. I would not stay at this hotel again probably get an apartment.

Just returned from staying at the Ozcelik. Hotel is ok - rooms are small but adequate and clean. Fridge does not work despite asking for it to be serviced on several occasions - in the end we just gave up! Pool is always in the shade. The beach across the road is rocky and the water is dirty, best to try Ladies beach (so we heard). The dolmus (mini-bus) runs just outside the hotel and can be flagged down anywhere. It costs YTL1.5 for a ride to the central bus station, where you pick up a transfer to Ephesus and the AquaPark - much cheaper than travelling with the tour companies.

Hotel was in a great location and very clean. rooms were serviced every day. Food wasn't great so i wouldn't reccomend full board, eating out is extreamly cheap anyway. Watch out for the barman/waiter also he has a habit of overcharging EVERYONE even the children. The pool is in the shade which is great if you have children as you don't have to worry about them burning, and people seem to go out most days so getting a sunbed is never a problem.

The room was fine, no complaints.
We knew the pool was small and shaded, so that was fine.
The service was awful, they had a notice to say please donot bring any drinks etc into the hotel, as we can provide it. There was never anyone around to ask for anything, and when we did ask they seemed reluctant to get anything.
The breakfast was not good, no toaster, coffee machine was alway breaking down, and not a variety at all.
This Hotel could make a lot of money, if they got the right staff. We often wanted drinks and ice creams, when we were sunbathing on the top part of the hotel they had a sunbed and some big cushions around to lay on.
We had to go to the shop over the road to get anything. But they did not really want to know. We went July 2nd for two weeks. This hotel is o.k if you donot mind going out each day. Marie

just got back from a weeks stay and realy enjoyed our time in kusadasi and at hotel ozcelik. Rooms cleaned every day and all rooms have a veiw over beach and marina. Having read other reveiws we were a bit aprihensive but it was a nice hotel which caters for everyone .We were b/b and breakfast was mainly a turkish menu but still nice. wouldnt go all inclusive as its cheap enough to eat/drink out every night. BUT BE WARNED BAR STREET VERY EXPENSIVE ! lots of other bars / resteraunts in kusadasi at half the price. So if you want a clean room , 5 min walk into kusadasi and opposite a beach then the ozcelik is for you

Having read mixed reviews I was a little apprehensive about staying at this hotel. However my fears were unfounded. The hotel was ideally located, clean and tidy with fresh linen every 2 days.
The breakfast was typically turkish - hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, cucumber, olives, juice, tea, coffee, bread, cheese - sometimes sausages and cake. Not my usual breakfast but the norm for Turkey and perfectly acceptable.
Rooms slightly small, but not too small, excellent air conditioning and nice bathrooms.
Yes there are signs displayed saying that you cannot take food and drink in to the hotel if purchased outside but we saw similar signs in most other hotels in the resort. We just kept water and drinks in our case and chilled them in the minibar in the room overnight - I say minibar - it was empty but you could purchase drinks for it but pricey - eg 1.5 litre of water was 1 lira in the shops but 3.50 in the hotel. Once again same as any other hotel prices.
Cleaning ladies did a great job - reception staff and waiters friendly. We were on a B&B basis - several guests had booked half board and evening meals looked ok but with prices so cheap in Kusadasi you are better off eating out at night and explore the area as opposed to sitting in a hotel dining room.
Prices - large efes beer in resort 3.5 lira and meals from 8 lira upwards - we ate at a restaurant in the town called Kalyon - large trees with rope lights in front of it. We avoided it it first as they place a flag of your nationality and it looked a little tacky but after a couple of days paid a visit and were very pleased. Excellent food, very friendly waiters and managers and very good prices with a wide choice of meals - try the chicken shish kebab - beautiful - the best restaurant that we visited - so we went there 3 times.
Also they are not too pushy unlike most of the other restaurants who seem to pounce on you as soon as you walk by or stop to look at a menu.
The hotel has an on site barber / hairdresser which i visited but learned my lesson. They charged 3 times the prices for a shave when compared to the town - was caught once but after that went elsewhere for my turkish shave - a lot cheaper and far better.

The beach outside the hotel is not the best - the water was a little dirty and very shallow - close to the marina. My recommendation would be to jump onm a dolmus and go to ladies beach - 6 minute journey or 25 if you walk - beautiful sandy beach and blue water - 2 sunbeds and a parasoll 15 lira per day. If you fancy luch there Rosy's Bar - lunchtime menu 8 lira and includes maincourse and a beer - about £3.30 and very tasty.

Word of warning you may get hassled on the beaches by the locals who try to come and talk to you and make conversation but their intentions are to get you to go to their restaurants - they can be a little persistant even offering to pay for a taxi to get you there - we just said that we would make our own way - and then went elsewhere or did what we wanted.

Useful tip - if you do not want to get hassled in town on your first couple of days by all the shops bars and restaurants walk round with your ipod headphones on, even if its not turned on - makes it a lot easier to get round. After a couple of days they recognise you and see that you have a tan and have been there for a few days so do not hassle you so much
