“Nice hotel in lovely location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2012

We spent a week at the Altinsaray in April. The hotel is an old Ottoman mansion, built around a courtyard with the rooms on each terrace accessed by stairs. We had a room on the 3rd. floor with a view out over the Aegean and the Turkish coastline. We had a small balcony which we could sit out on looking down on the green fields next door and out over the sea. Yes, the rooms are dated but they are comfortable and clean, and full of light. The showers are great with hot water all day.

We had our breakfast and dinner in the hotel every day and the food was lovely. The food here is Turkish but lots of salads and we loved it. None of the dreaded chips and beans here thankfully. There are cereals alongside all the breakfast dishes.

The Altinsaray has a lovely pool and the outside sitting areas give lovely views out over the Aegean and the boats out fishing or on trips to the Greek Island of Samos across the way. ( A trip that is a must do). We had our dinner outside on the terrace every eveing watching the sunset and it was fabulous.

The hotel also has a hamam and I would recommend the hot stone massage or the aromatherapy massage. They were great value for money and sooooo relaxing.

This hotel is at the top of a steep hill but has a very good footpath. The dolmus passes up and
down every five minutes all day, every day and is only 2.50tl.

The nearest beach is Ladies Beach and it is a 20 minute walk from the hotel but the dolmus will take you there and back for a few tl. This is a nice beach and the water was clean.

The only downside was a lonely dog barking all night in a neighbouring house and the swallows dawn chorus around 4a.m. every day without fail.

This is a reasonably priced hotel, very good value for money and worth the 5 minute walk down into the town itself. We found the staff to be very friendly and always willing to help. They all speak English.

We hope to re-visit the Altinsaray in the Autumn as we think it is a great find.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the third or fourth floor and facing the sea.

It is a family-hotel, not too big, in traditional ottoman style. Rooms are small, but very clean with a modern bathroom a small balcony with great oceanview. Staffs are very nice and helpfully. We had halfboard aund we were very happy, becouse breakfast and dinner tasted very good. Fazit: You get great stay for a cheap price.

I stayed here for a week in October, and had a fantastic time. The hotel is an old Ottoman mansion, set around a tiled courtyard with a restaurant, a pool and a hamam. The rooms were a good size, comfortable bed, lots of furniture, a tiny balcony ovelooking the olive grove, a large bathroom with a sizeable shower and good facilities, and amber glass windows that let in plenty of light. The reception was staffed 24 hours and the people were always helpful, going far beyond the job description to make you feel welcome. The free wifi internet in the lobby was a great bonus. The restaurant was pleasant in atmosphere, breakfast was good, a buffet with anything you could want, plenty of fresh bread and omelettes or crepes on demand, with a selection of hot and cold drinks. Lunch was available at a cost, but was reasonably priced and the portions were large. The evening meal was also very good, a wide selection of cold meats cheeses and salad to start with, also a soup every night and a selection of hot Turkish food if you wanted it. The desserts were wonderful, a selection of baklava and blancmanges, or lots of fresh fruit if you wanted the healthy option. The restaurant staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The pool was good, I only used it once, but it was perfect in the balmy October afternoon. I tried the Hamam too, a good experience, much cheaper than the less authentic versions in the town and the staff were friendly and informative. The location of the hotel was ideal, a short walk down the coast into town (about 15 minutes), close to the beaches and the old citadel and if you didn't want to walk back up the hill from Kusadasi, there were frequent minibuses heading for the Lady's Beach that cost the equivalent of about 80 pence per head that dropped you off at the hotel. It was a good base for excursions too, all the companies picked you up from the hotel and the receptionists were helpful if there were any delays. So, I can heartily recommend this hotel for the independent traveller who wants to experience Turkey at its best at reasonable prices.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good, seaview rooms usually come at a supplement so if you want a cheap holiday go...

The hotel has very helpful staff, elevated sea views, an excellent pool and wonderful dining terrace BUT no one maintains it: air con hoses perished, shower didn't work properly, thick smear of brown glue on loo seat which was very loose, curtain hanging loose from wall, electrical wall plate came away with plug showing terminals, while minibar fridge was in unventilated cupboard, and was so hot to touch I worried about fire risk. Food OK but no main course choice available. We stayed a week.

This hotel is priced relatively high compared to Turkish standards. The hotel rooms are soo old. There is something old and artisty and something old and need to be thrown away. This is old and thrown away type of furniture.
We reserved the hotel for 3 nights and didn't get any confirmation for the booking. Sent them several emails about how to get from bus station to the hotel, if they have any shuttle. Finally we called them and they tell us they have no shuttle service to bring us. We were surprised because we paid so much for the hotel. Anyhow, we managed to get to the hotel and we got to the room, i was expecting a antique furniture nicely kept but this was absolutely ridiculous broken and old wooden furniture.
Also, hotel didn't inform us that dinner was included in what we paid for. Furthermore, there was no room service the next morning. When we complained, they said there was no spare key to our room for no one could enter!!
Horrible experience overall.
Also, i would like to mention that the manager was very polite. When we complained he made an extra effort to make our stay comfortable. But it was just not worth the money we paid for the top floor deluxe sea view.

Coming from Romania (Transylvania) it was a bit difficult for us to get a reservation to this hotel. It was worthvile taking the effort: we got more than we have expected.
The professionalism, kindness and hospitality of the stuff stunned us at the first moment we entered the Hotel.
Staying in a 1st floor parc view room offered the pleasure of a beautiful green scenery and a refreshing refuge from the heat (the old but perfectly working air conditioner had its part too).
The restaurant has all that one can need: beautiful turkish mosaic, real ottoman atmosphere, the terrace is ingenuisly overlapping the pool and has an amazing view to the sea.
The food they serve is satisfying both in quantity and quality. We especially enjoyed the performance of the shefs preparing the fresh meals in front of us every time. In a week they offered a nice introduction to turkish cuisine (their outfit and behaviour is impecable).
In the afternoons the pool is a real oasis: perfectly clean and maintained, the services of the bar naturally and fully available and the private places of the parc offer pleasantly peaceful places for a nice rest.
We do not consider it a perfect place for those who seek loud and intensive amusement with McDonald's food.
Instead of last minute technology this hotel offers warm and friendly atmosphere.
All in one we had an extremely pleasant week in this hotel.

Room Tip: We've found the 1st floor, parc view room pleasing
