“Agree with other customers - would not stay here ever again!”
Reviewed 10 August 2009

I do not normally complain and always look on the bright side of things, but have to say...
we booked this holiday very last minute, went the next day, I was debating between several and in the end two hotels, would recommend Tesan Beach Hotel for those not having booked here!
Our transfer pick up via medhotels, Kusal something was all on time and easy but he drove at about 90 mph and we were holding on for dear life the whole 90 minutes of the journey to Kusadassi - hence no tip!
Arrival of hotel, first impressions were its not finished, rooms were spacious, view was lovely but nothing to say it was a 'superior' room.
Restaurant Area/Room - was very small compared to other All Inc hotels we have stayed in, food was tasty but if your a fussy eater you will probably live off bread for the week. Waiters were ok, eager to clear away after you swallowed mouthful. Drinks, well the wine was basic, soft drinks on hand ok, but not much selection of spirits.
Pool - Was nice, difficult to get an umbrella. Bloke who takes your photo's and then displays small copies later for you to see, and is all pally pally turned out to be a nightmare! Ordered 6 photos agreed at 7TL each, went to pick up next day, got completely wrong photos and wanted 50 TL for them, was not happy!
FAMILIES - be aware there is no entertainment atall - we were gutted as my youngest had dresses and wanted to boogie and play games - there is nothing. Infact on the last night they had a turkish night - we were shocked, the night of leaving a bit of entertainment, it started at 10.30pm, but was late and then theres no wine left and the bar closed at 11pm ( first night of around the pool for the evening) Lots of complaints!
WHAT TO DO: - We thoroughly enjoyed our boat trip, would recommend going with 'Yosun' (located down bottom of hill, straight opp road in marina), they charge 50TL for adults and the children go free. We stopped at 4/5 bays, staff were fantastic and it includes drinks/lunch. Other boats can be found cheaper but are very over crowded and do not give that personal/family touch. We took this trip twice - was that good.
ADALAND - we were advised, it was great for rides, once you arrive you go to cashier and they issue a card with whatever amount of money you wish to spend for the day and then at the end keep receipts and they give you back whats left - bit off a queue. We paid 120 TL for 2 adults and 2 children through travel agency in Kusadasi.
Taxi prices vary - again they seemed the easier option - never saw a mini bus at right time?!
EAT OUT - Went to MURPHYS Bar, Ali who visits pool area during day, asks you if you fancy meal in town, free desserts/drinks and they pick you up and bring you home when you want. Nice food - nice evening - would recommend for a change of scenery.
DIAMOND BEACH - Eddie who also visits hotel, asking you to visit his beach, pick you up 10.15 and drop you back 5pm, this is the only beach we went to - it was nice, wavey in the afternoon, so hire pedlo first thing. Restaurant is nice, massage available and very friendly people. Its a long beach - not a cove beach like his photos show tho!
ROOM NIGHTIME - THERE IS A CLUB AT THE BOTTOM OF HILL THAT IS OPEN AIR - MUSIC STOPS PLAYING AT 4AM - BE WORNED!!

WE MADE THE MOST OF THE LOCATION - WEATHER WAS FAB - POOL WAS NICE - STAFF/PEOPLE FREINDLY - BUT WAS VERY DISSAPPOINTED IN THIS HOTEL/ACCOMM HAVING BEEN ADVERTISED AS ALL INCLUSIVE & SUPERIOR A1 ROOMS.
ENJOY!

Booked last year, last minute deal to Turkey to Hotel Golden Day. What an absolute dreadful hotel and terrible decision. Turkey is just a hell hole and the hotel was so disgusting I still have nightmares about it now. Food was awful and did not cater for British or children, not what you would expect on all inclusive. Pool and the weather was the only highlight of the holiday, many people there were also complaining and very upset at the quality of the food and hotel standards. No entertainment provided for the children or adults, and also be warned, Turkish like to party until 4 in the morning with loud music! Heavy Lamp Post fell on a small child whilst sitting around the pool. WARNING - DO NO VISIT THIS HOTEL PLEASE!

PLEASE Dont think of booking this hotel before you read my review, I think I mentioned everything and I have been really honest!!!!! Any questions I will try and answer if I can.

Great points -- Would not have enjoyed as much without the company of our friends from wales and ----Met a great family from scotland, Suzanne and Dougie and kids, and a nice lady Lynda and her son from Norwich--who's email I have lost after my phone crashed - really sorry guys!!! Contact me through here if you can please.!!!!

Well We booked with hays travel (via med hotels), 4 adults, two from near Lake District and Two from South Wales, first time in turkey for us and 2nd for welsh couple.
It was a good price for all inclusive (we been to lots of places all inclusive before) but booking the day before you travel you usually get a bargain of some kind so we thought nothing of it.
Flew with Onurair which was excellent a brilliant flight (both ways) and lots of empty seats and we could spread out.
Got to bodrum and found our transfer bus all good so far, journey took an hour and a half at breakneck speed, good job we could not see - 4am in morning - should took two plus hours so he was really pushing speed.
Got to GOLDEN DAY HOTEL, met by night porter who helped with the luggage and was a really pleasant young man, check in was easy nice recptionist and got our remotes for tv and air conditioning, porter took bags up to rooms with us and showed us in and how to work air con (reminds me of welcome u got in spain in late 70's early 80's) and then he brought us a plastic glass of water each as we were really thirsty and tired and nothing open at that time of night.
The room was huge, beds comfy, balcony nice, the view was AMAZING, this hotel is probably about 25yrs old and all the rooms are facing the sea, they probably were only hotel around at one time and would have been quite exclusive then, now there are apartments and other hotels built nearby, plus you have a huge hill to walk up and down to the main road, only do this once a day if your not too fit, no good for anyone with walking problems, you would need taxis all the time.
The pool is great and they cleaned it every day, the sun beds were ok not comfy but you could hire a padded cover for 2 TL from reception as they were not included in our all inclusive.
Had quick sleep and got up at 8am to go for breakfast as we were really starving - well here began the experience..........
NO fresh fruit, NO tinned fruit, NO cereals apart from stale cornflakes, warm watery milk, there was a huge table of yoghurt, olives, salads and pastas, rice and sauces, but they were NOT refrigerated and the flies were all over them, really UNHYGIENIC, they had clingfilm on but that was peeled back to allow you to use them, they were stood for two hours and it was hot in the restaurant and no air-con, breeding ground for bacteria, the commis chef would make you an omlette just outside on the patio but that was the only hot food, sometimes there were sliced tomtoes with melted cheese on, lots of pastries and jam - again NOT covered or refrigerated and bread - NO toaster tho (Did get one 2 days before we left ), we made best of it and were not hungry but you had to be careful what you ate as flies and no refrigeration do not make for healthy tummies, and you definately had to go at 8am, so you knew food was fresh as not kept cold or covered.
LUNCH was same all UNHYGIENIC again and most of same stuff - was it put away after breakfast --- two hours open to elements and flies --- and just brought out again for lunch I wonder. Sweet cakes and like a blamange type pudding was really nice to look at but did not get put in fridge or covered so all flies on that too.
Soup was interesting, various flavours and some of it was really good so at least with bread you had something hot and two bowls would fill you up. Meat was like hot dog sausages and chewy, chicken in abundance and cooked in all different ways, all types of veggies with cheese sauce on and chips or wedges or potatoes dauphin but always COLD unless you got to them as they were brought out and put in containers, still a worry about freshness and hygiene here.
DINNER was same again -- salad table full of same stuff!! still not refrigerated.... Then they got a new frige one that used in shops to serve from - better than nowt tho --and that was used for water melon and which ever cake they prepared for dinner, they also got flat cold plate eventually and some of puds and cakes and fresh peaches, went on this but for size of hotel it was just not big enough to hold everything and most of food was not chilled at all. BIG MISTAKE - quite few people had upset stomachs and the runs -----was it because of food being un chilled???? Makes you wonder......
Bar in restaurant well actually it was a cupboard with a serving hatch, you could use this at lunch and dinner as the pool bar closed when this was open and you actually got GLASSES to drink from here so the size of your drink was normal, they did keep running out of everything!!
Pool Bar was tiny and very basic, no local spirits at all just vodka, whisky, raki, gin. I thought some liquerers would be available and maybe white rum or brandy too - NONE. The plastic cups they used, great not having glass round pool BUT, they were WASHED and used AGAIN, tasting of fairy liquid --YUK!! the styrofoam ones were binned, they were for water, tea ,coffee and fruit juice. The plastic ones were only half filled and they were tiny, you could only get two drinks per guest so we were in a group of four so that meant two of us going to the bar each time, as they were such small cups we were back up again and the queue got longer and longer as the nite went on, if you tried to get any extra - 3 drinks - the bar men got in trouble from the bar/restaurant manager for you having too many drinks on your table.
I have to say the staff were really really nice, tried to help and were courteous, (except for one of waiters who was bit slimy -- if you were 18 - 25 yrs and smiled at him nicely he even gave them his room number and would supply them with drinks from the closed restaurant bar on the patio throught the window if you sat under it ---- very naughty, mind you some of the girls played him and got table full of drinks even tho they had no intention of anything else) they did try and serve quick but one bar man was try to serve, collect plastic cups, wash them and serve again then he kept run out and had to change barrels or cannisters as fast as he could, they were run ragged, not enough staff at all. All inclusive bar closed at 2300hrs - first time ever had that, the little bar closed and the big pool bar opened with 2 staff which meant faster service and of course as you were paying they were much quicker.
There was a huge bar opposite the restaurant which was empty and all closed down, no optics or drinks in it, had tables and comfy chairs in there and would have been lovely all open and you could go on patio with drinks but never opened at all??? hen asked bar / restaurant manager why it was closed he said because people would not want to sit inside and go up for drinks from pool--duh! in evening would be nice to have comfy chairs to sit in and tables etc and could sit on patio too, much comfier than sunbeds as not enough chairs or tables round pool area for all guests.
Kids club - HA HA!! -- two slides and a swing and no staff at all and no activities at all, glad we did not bring kids, a lot of families were gutted as they had been given spiel about great activities and club etc, not available at all.
Gym - could not find it? but mentioned in info.
In all honesty this could be a great hotel, position, rooms, pool etc but they really need to get their act together and sort their catering arrangements and basic food hygiene out, food covers and lids, hot plates, and fridges and cold plates are the first and basic things they need, environmental health would have a field day here - it would be closed down in a heartbeat!!!! then they need to check their menu out because the waste they have is probably huge, a quick review would really help and they could serve great food, some brits may want a bit more cooked for breakfast, but as long as food is hygenic, hot and edible most brits would be satisfied and at least could fill up on SAFE foods.

I would definately go to Kusadasi again, really loved it but, would NOT be going to this hotel again, no matter what i paid, i expect the basics to be met and they definately were not here.

Every one was complaining, we had a cheap deal but some people booked in January and had paid £1400 for two adults and one child and they had a terrible time trying to get their child to eat anything.

The Med hotels Rep - Cant remember her name she was so unhelpful - was turkish and 5ft 5in with curly hair and rides a moped, once met you found she was the rudest most obnoxious rep you would have ever come across she told us not to moan about the bar or food or service cos we had paid for 3* all inclusive and this was it, you getting what you pay for she said, not even offering to try to sort the bad bar service or the UNHYGIENIC food out at all, just could not be bothered speak to any of the guest who approached her, one couple went to her boss and complained really badly. She will get the company MED HOTELS (who i think are part of Thomas Cook Group) and this hotel a bad name as you need someone who will try and help and who will listen to your complaint, suggestion or problem not someone who cant be bothered and is very rude to everyone at all.

On arrival at Bodrum, we had to wait over 40 mins in the boiling afternoon 1530hrs heat for our transfer bus. Which got us to the Hotel at 2030hrs!! So long trip I would make sure you take TDL (Turkish Lira) or Euro, so you can get a drink or food at the one restaurant stop about an hour into transfer. We were greated by friendly staff, immaculate reception area, with an amazing view from the lounge balcony. Sunsets are great from here. The pool is very big, with a ledge all around the side, perfect for sitting in to cool down in the baking heat. However, it only has one depth about 6ft. Their is also a small childrens pool segregated off from big pool, and a foot deep infinity type pool above both, which is great for cooling off and looking at the amazing view of the hills, harbour and all the large cruise liners that dock at the port, which cannot be seen from the main pool. They do need more sun loungers and umbrellas, but there is enough for everyone to go around, i always got a sunbed if i went down around 830am after my breakfast. They didnt seem to have all the facilities open to us on 14th july, and they still dont, they have a pool bar , a sports bar and 2 shops that are not open. But the shop in reception can be opened if you ask at reception. Situated on a very steep hill from the beach, restaurants, little supermarket, so i'd recommend not a very high heel type of holiday or take them off on your walk down to the main area at night . Also no slopes down to pool area, so would say not overly disabled friendly, past the infinity pool. becareful aswell, lots of marbled floors which are very slippery when wet.! The staff seemed to be very over worked and under staffed but in last 2 days more staff arrived and all with Golden Day t-shirts on, so easily recognisable and it was alot easier to get drinks at pool bar, food was very nice throughout my stay, however, we chose to experience life outside the All inclusive hotel and go into Kusadasi or down opposite the harbour on occasions for food and entertainment. great place called Dejazar. The hotel has now even got a new toaster in the mornings for breakfast, in last 2 days. They do seem to have ,in just a week, taken on board all complaints and sugestions made by customers and acted on them, to the benefit of everyone who stays there. A little late for us and our holiday i'm, afraid, but I can see the potential. All they need now is a entertainments team during the all inclusive hours and everyone will be happy. Met lots of nice people, staff were trying very hard to please us and be pleasant, they are now starting to bring drinks to tables and interact more with the customers. So I think..not the best all inclusive i have stayed in by far, but it was last minute booking. Which seems to be improving noticiibly every day. Very clean, tidy, beautiful views, ideally situated (except hill is a bit of a chore after a few drinks by the marina), maid service, big rooms all with patio, t.v. and fridge, air con, clean towels, some of the lights in the hallways dont work, but they all come on automatically by sensor, so dont stand their hitting the on/ofdf switch like i did - pointless. food choices similar every evening but covers all tastes and nationalities and buffet style. Good book, magazine section in reception for previous guests, internet for 5tdl ask at reception they will log you on. The wine that you get from the cask - self service is very smooth and well worth a try. Expect what you pay for and if you get more then its a bonus.! expect 5 star and you will be disappointed. Very enjoyable holiday, but pleased we only had a week in the hotel, the resort is fabulous though with lots to do.

Well, we went there a couple for a couple of weeks. The food was not as good as i was expecting in the main but hey if you pay for all inclusive you are going to eat it i guess! The drinks are served in tiny little plastic cups which means if you want to get drunk on the beer (which isn't too bad) then you need to drink about 100 of them - i kid you not).

The staff are wonderful, the management are disgraceful.

At the beginning of the holiday it seemed ok but after 3 days of getting the same, poor quality food, day after day it became boring quite quickly (I never want to see another cucumber, tomato, olive or cheese again!!!!!!)

The occasional entertainment was made up of a couple of local lads coming round and doing Turkish shaves. The music was supplied only when you asked for music and then it was usually fairly muted because the hotel is quite close to apartments - doesn't matter there is a nightclub at the bottom of the hill which was belting out until after 4am every single morning.

By the middle of the second week, the management were rather miffed with the customers as we had been getting 8 drinks each so that we had enough booze to last until 2am (the all inclusive stops at 11pm). They even put a restriction on the amount of drinks each person could get (2 per person) so we ended up queuing all night for the bar. This was a great laugh because we had some fun doing this and we actually drank more.

The most important thing which i found was that there was a positive to the fact that there was no entertainment. We made lots of new friends. Our main time was discussing the hotel and it's management, staff, policies etc. This kept us up until between 1 and 2am every night.

On to the positives.....

The pool was excellent - cleaned every single morning and open from 0900 - 2000. Only down side to the pool was that it was the same depth all the way across and no shallow end. It was over 5'6" througout - except the steps area. Not quite enough sunbeds but as long as you get down and put your towel down by 0800 you were good for the day.

We did complain about the food - pretty much every day and this got better towards the end of the holiday. If you like chicken and turkey then this is the place for you. My partner loves poultry but even she was getting fed up of it by the end of the first week.

The chef will make you a fresh omlette every single morning but if you want an English breakfast then there are millions of restaurants at the bottom of the hill which do a full english for between 12 and 15 YTL.

The people that were there were mostly friendly except there were some very rude and arrogant people - but i guess you get that everywhere

With regards to Transfers from the airport - If you land at Bodrum it takes almost 2 hours!!!!

I have never been abroad in my life before but can safely say that i am looking forward to going away again but it won't be to Hotel GoldenDay in Kusadasi

I have never been anywhere so awfull in my life. we arrived at 04:30am {after a 2hr transfer} to a very nice reception area and quite friendly staff who showed us to our room. oh dear!!!!!!!!! We were on the fourth floor with a balcony that had a 15" gap between the wall and railing which our 2 year old could quite easily crawl through and off the balcony. After 3 hours sleep we went down to breakfast which was minimal to say the least. Salad, dry bread, cold boiled eggs and omlettes was on the menu almost everyday. We ate what we could then went for a look around. The pool was very nice and thats it. There was nothing for children to do {no kids club as stated}, there was a bar with a pool table that was permanentley closed and a ping pong table that you had to pay for the privelage of using. we went to reception to complain about the room and request to be moved which we were, to the second floor only to have no bed for our 2 year old and our 15 year olds bed next to ours!
Lunch was uneventfull, tasteless and, again, salad. The drinks left alot to be desired.
The beer was served in plastic tumblers which could only be described as oversized thimbles and then it was only half full. The water machine was knee height with cold water which barely came out and scolding hot water which was easily accessable to small children. The juice machine served orange and lime cordial but looked like it hadnt been cleaned in weeks and fizzy drinks were served in the same cups as the beer and you had to queue for both.
The rep was quite possibly the most unhelpfull i have ever had the misfortune of meeting!!!!
For an all inclusive hotel there were alot of chargeable extras, for instance:
ice cream
crisps
milk
toast
matresses for the sunbeds
ping pong.
After 2 days of this and my 2 year old not eating a thing in the hotel we requested a move.
The answer from 'Miss helpfull' was " you only have 5 days left and if you do move it will cost an extra £700".
Resigned to the fact we were stuck here we stocked our fridge of snacks and beer and ate out.
On day 3 i asked at reception if i could have a bottle of milk for my son but i was told no, milk is extra. At lunch time he had still ate nothing so i asked for a piece of toast but again i was told no. When the rep came the next day i asked her if she could arrange a piece of toast for me as my son hadnt eaten any food in the hotel for 3 days but she replied "he is 2 he's not going to eat is he, give him milk" following this comment a confrontation ensued resulting in me being 'allowed' to request toast from reception if my son 'needed' it.
Days 4,5 & 6 were spent out of the hotel on day trips and spending extra money we hadnt budgeted for on edible food the whole family could eat.
All in all it was complete rubbish. The hotel itself has a few safety issues but has potential. The food is not fit to be classed as 3*, the rep is not fit to be a rep and the manager is only fit for the sack.
Kusadasi is a lovely place with lovely people and great days out with 1 very poor hotel.
