“Another Great Relaxing Stay”
Reviewed 5 June 2010

Just returned from another visit to the Sealight and everything is just as good as it was last year.
The hotel is situated a little out of the way from the bright lights but these are easily reachable by dolmus very cheaply if required and the hotel is in such a beautiful spot the views and sunsets more than make up for it.
It is a huge hotel but you can always find a quiet spot near the beach. It was also good to see the pool man throwing off the towels from sunbeds that had been reserved from the crack of dawn.
We were lucky enough to get a good deal on the price of the holiday and still managed to get a room on the quiet side of the hotel overlooking the sea. Last year we paid for an upgrade room which was very comfortable but the standard rooms are excellent as well. The rooms and the hotel in general are kept spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. You were never left without a drink and with 17 cocktails to work your way through the opportunities are endless.
Don't miss the cake and icecream lady on the first floor. The bar up there is very cool and quiet and they do a great cup of English tea to go with your cakes after a hard day on the beach.
Why do people moan about the food? This is Turkey , a Muslim country ,where you shouldn't expect to get bacon and sausages. The food is probably geared more towards our European friends but there is always something on the grill or the buffet from the large selection, even if it's one of the lovely salads they prepare for you. The specialist restaurants are also all worth a visit and it's nice to be waited on by the charming staff in a lovely setting overlooking the sea.
There is also a good selection of bars. The lighthouse is our favourite with its terrace over the bay, always our venue for coffee after the evening meal.
This year they have added a small cinema showing the latest movies which is a bonus if you don't want to leave the hotel at night. The addition of cold water machines near the beach are also a very welcome addition.
Our only niggle is the shuttle bus which transports people up the steep rise from the sea. It runs regularly through the day but stops at 6pm. Near this time the driver gets involved ferrying the restaurant staff and supplies around and disposing of rubbish when he should be picking up passengers. There were occassions when we were left to walk which wasn't good in searing heat and they need to sort this out.
It is definitely worth flying to Izmir as it is a much shorter transfer to Kusdasi and a much more civilised airport than Bodrum.
We only stayed for a week this time and wished it could be longer.
This is an ideal place for a restful break and we will definitely return again.

Had a great time at the Sealight. We travelled with Onur Airlines which are the Basic Turkish Airline and no frills, no in flight movie. You have to purchase any food or drink you want, but I bought mine at the Duty Free before we departed so has a few wee drams and sandwiches. The flight departed on time so we had no real complaints about the flight which was a night flight departing at 2100 from Manchester. Turkey is 2 hours ahead of us at the moment so we arrived at 0300, in Bodrum and it was a 2 ½ hours bus to the Sealight. The hotel was great and the staff are all very helpful & pleasant and I have never seen a place as clean the staff are always clearing up and will always bring you any food our drink you want to your sun bed. ( Nice to give a wee tip but they don’t look for a tip ).
The entertainment team really work hard from 1000 – 2200 and later. Some of the shows where a good laugh and some not so good, but always worth a look as the show is only on for an hour. They do games such as Archery, Boules, Volley Ball ect and a lot of people did the Aqua Aerobics in the pool 2/3 times a day.
The food is also great and I would recommend you have a good look around before you decide as they serve different foods in different places. I loved a fresh omelette every morning but they do this outside the main buffet on the veranda, which they also use a grill at night time.
We ate in 2 of the 4 al a carte restaurants the Turkish & Chinese and had a great meal in both, you book at a desk in the reception area and it is not manned all the time so check when they are there but do book it worth it.
The sunsets where just brill and everyone was getting there picture taken with the setting sun sitting in there hand.
We only did one trip which was to Ephesus and as one old guy said if you have seen one ruin you have seen them all, but we enjoyed the trip and found it interesting.
I also had a shave at the hotel and they gave me a neck massage as well which I it had lasted all day.
We noticed that the departure lounge in Bodrum was a total rip off as a can of coke was £5, sandwich £6, and the duty free drink was cheaper on the way out as a normal bottle of Bacardi was £12 & Vodka £11 thankfully I already had mine bought in the UK. All in all we had a great time at the Sealight, but if you want a complaint the only thing that got up my nose was the people who started putting towels on the sunbeds from 0600, but if you don’t mind a bed anywhere head down towards the sea and there are beds every where and ever drinking water machines as well .
Have a great time you luck people still to go there.

I have read a lot of reviews on trip advisor and agree with the most recent. This hotel is lovely, we only had a standard room but it was spacious, beds were comfortable, rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels and the bathroom had a range of toiletries, even the fridge was well stocked with soft drinks (no extra). Our room was on the 7th floor overlooking the fantastic pool. One morning just before 8 a.m. we laughed to see the pool staff clearing all the towels put on by all those irritating guests who hog all the best beds and don't go down till late in the afternoon!!!! But as there are many, many sunbeds around the pool, sun terraces, the jettys and the private beach, there is always a free bed! Beach Towels and a complimentary beach bag are provided too. The a la carte restaurants were great, we went to the Italien and Chinese restaurant - both excellent food and service. The main restaurant however was a different story, food was very basic and repetative definitely not 5 star. The drinks flowed freely from wine/drinks with your meal to cocktails in the bar and the cappucinos were very nice. The entertainment manager is great fun and each night provides a show (with his team) from 9 - 10.00 (kiddies club beforehand) but for us there just wasn't enough entertainment in the hotel (we would have liked a little bit more going on daytime maybe quiz, water aerobics and night time bit more music, dancing etc (there was the hotel disco but more for the younger crowd) All in All we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend this hotel for a great all round value for money bit of luxury in Turkey.

I can't believe that everyone is talking about the same hotel that I stayed at! I have recently returned from a week long holiday with my partner and we both thought that it was fantastic.

We arrived at the Sealight in the early hours of the morning after a delayed flight where we were greeted by smiling staff offering us the late night buffet or to have a sandwich sent up to our room. We were then shown to our superior room which looked more like some of the suites I have stayed in. For £550 for the week, this room was a bargain.

The room was kept immaculately clean the entire time and the maid was really friendly. If you go to this hotel there really is no need to take any toiletries, they even provide sewing kits and nail files!

As for the food, I thought it was fantastic. They served traditional Turkish food along with chips, burgers, etc for those less adventurous tourists. I would imagine that any 'funny tummies' came from using the water to brush your teeth (they even tell you not to drink the water and provide bottled water in the rooms). We were lucky and managed to get into all 4 a la carte restaurants, they were all fantastic! The fish restaurant was my personal favourite and I loved the personal touch of providing women with shawls to keep them warm.

I can't think of anything that the hotel could have done to make our stay better. The staff were really friendly and attentive, the room was lovely and comfortable and the food was not just edible, but enjoyable (especially the a la carte restaurants). The hotel will also lend you a laptop free of charge so that you can surf the internet whilst drinking one of their (rather strong) cocktails. We will definitely be going back!

Just returned from the Sealight Resort Hotel so writing this whilst fresh in my mind.
This hotel flatters to deceive with an impressive first impression, a welcome drink and towel, a beach bag and other useful items in your room, but when you get down to the basics the hotel just doesn’t deliver!
Rooms:
Well appointed with carpeted floors and plenty of storage space, ours had a very large bed but the duvet didn’t reach across it (till our last night when a new one arrived that did fit), the bed was very hard which I don’t normally mind but this one was even a bit too hard for me. A small fridge which was stocked with 3 soft drinks and 2 bottles of water and replenished daily as used. A small flat screen tv but no real channels for brits, The shower over the bath worked fine and hot water was never a problem, hair dryer on wall was ok. We were side sea view overlooking a wooded area, quite nice as long as you didn’t look straight down into the hotel workshops etc. I suggest you ask for a pool view if possible as these also have a really good sea view. Our room was kept spotless by the best employee we met during our stay, always a smile.

Facilities:
Pools: A large outdoor pool with no real deep end could safely stand up anywhere, it was very cold (possibly not warmed up yet!) plenty of sunbeds but no cushions on the pool one’s, and lots of these were broken on their settings, plenty of sun brollies available as required. The Hotel states that towels left out prior to 08:00am will be removed but this is not adhered to! There is also a small indoor pool but be warned this is not heated and is as cold as the outdoor one. Pool towels are provided in your rooms and can be changed at the spar in the mornings.
Sunbathing: There are a number of small grassy patio areas on the way down to the beach which have plastic sunbeds with cushions and fixed wicker brollies, these areas are ideal if you want quieter areas to lounge.
Beach: The beach area is quite small and has a grit covering; there are 3 rows of sunbeds here with the same cushions and brollies as the patio areas. The beach slopes gently and is sandy when you wade out a bit. There are free pedalo’s and canoes for the hotel guest’s use. There are also motor sports which are obviously chargeable.
There is a free buggy service down/back up to/from the beach bar – be aware this is still 2 level of steps up from the beach
Bars: Lobby - open 24 hours, Pool, Beach (not on beach!) Lighthouse and Garden room – This is where the first let down comes! There are very few waiters at the bars and the ones that are there do not seem to understand if you ask for anything not on the menu card, we got various things brought when we asked for a rum and coke!! Including just a glass of neat alcohol, if you go yourself drinks are almost thrown at you by very busy and seemingly very unhappy bar staff. The quality of the drinks were in general very poor unless you just stuck to the beer which was ok.
Restaurants: Sunrise is the main buffet restaurant and is absolutely awful, it is laid out as like a school dining room with rows of tables, drab decor and very poorly lit, there is a small area to eat outside and additional seating in a conservatory type area. The food is strange even for an international hotel, cauliflower and soup for breakfast!! But even if you can find something you fancy it is very rarely no more than luke warm and often cold! I complained re the cold food to one of the many guys in suits in the restaurant (who seemingly do nothing) and exampled the soup, the chef was called and he tasted the soup and agreed it was cold stating that the heating devices were not working but nothing was done and was left for other people to still get cold soup!! The only way of ensuring hot food was to stand by the areas that are doing items there and then like fried eggs at breakfast and Grill and Turkish flat breads at other meals, but this choice is obviously very limited. Another thing in this restaurant is if you want water with your meal they will get bottles of half used luke warm water from other tables for you (this can’t be right). Tables are cleared but not wiped unless you ask. My wife was sick for 3 days and I heard of other similar cases and numerous moans about the food from various nationalities but people did not seem to complain!! I also reported this to Thomas Cook as I believe this restaurant is a time bomb waiting to go off.
The 4 a la carte – Agaios (sea food), Dragon (Chinese), Dolce Vita (Italian) and Kutuk Ocakbasi (Turkish) whilst in no way can be defined as fine dining are an improvement on the Sunrise, at least the food is generally hot and the service very good, but they seem to serve courses in strange ways like in the Chinese where the fried rice was served as a separate course!
The 2 snack bars at the pool and beach have very limited menus but what they serve is ok, these get very busy at times and become very disorganised, once again tables aren’t wiped unless requested. These seemed understaffed and the few guys worked very hard to maintain the service. There is also a cake stall on the second floor by the garden room and the cakes served were of a good standard.

Entertainment:
The entertainment team did various games during the day which appeared to repeat daily i.e. Archery, Darts, mini golf, volleyball, football and cocktail game, no real pressure to join in unless you wanted, they also had the obligatory club dance once by the pool during the day and again at night, and they seemed very unhappy if you didn’t join in. The same team did various shows at night in the open air amphitheatre (weather permitting); these were no way professional but a decent laugh all the same! Other nights they had a couple of guys on guitars, and a Russian quartet by the pool bar. The lobby had a piano player and violinist pre dinner. There was also a disco under the dining room but no one seemed to go to it. Overall the hotel lacks quality nightly entertainment and needs to improve on this.

Location: This hotel has a lovely beach side location but at the rear is literally in the middle of nowhere, not a shop, restaurant or bar for about a mile at ladies beach. To get into Kusadasi you can get the regular dolmus service outside the hotel for 2 TL wherever you want to get off, The service (Number 5) does a loop through Kusadasi via back streets, bus station, centre, Harbour and ladies beach, be aware the roads around the hotel are very rough and bumpy and the dolmus do not have any air conditioning, other than this it is a good service, takes 20 mins to the centre of Kusadasi due to its route via the bus station. If you get off at the bus station you can get an onward service to Seljuk and Ephesus for 4TL these are clearly marked.

Summary: What a shame this hotel as so many good points but is let down by the very basics, especially the food.

Having just returned from a week at the Sealight, here is my honest opinion of the holiday.
It was booked with my girlfriend off the back of the mainly excellent reviews on here. I think we all know which reviews to take on board and which to ignore (i.e. those that insist on typing in 'text speak', or seem to have trouble constructing a properly-spelt sentence!)
Anyway, here goes. Firstly, this holiday was amazing value, there is no denying that! We paid £380 each (all inclusive) for the last week in May, £50 of which included a 20kg baggage allowance and transfers. So to those who moan that this is not a five star hotel, just be realistic for goodness sake. We all know that certain countries use a different rating system, so just weigh up what you are actually paying for the holiday and stop whinging please. Of course you won't get a true five star for this sort of money, but it is undoubtedly a good four star hotel I would say. Do the sums PLEASE...I worked out that if, say, the flight was £200 (which surely it would be), we were paying less than £20 a day for as much food and drink as you wanted...and that's not even considering the cost of the accommodation and all the other free services available!! Enough said.
The other guests were a mixture, from your usual array of overweight (usually northern!) tattooed chavs, to French, Dutch, Turkish and of course Russian. I don't know what the Russian words for 'please' and 'thankyou' are, but that's not really surprising as they don't seem to either. Having said that however, no-one was intrusive and everyone was pretty well-behaved while we were there. Queue-jumping was not a problem but just keep your eyes peeled, especially at the bar late at night, as there are all sorts of nationalities staying here. I would recommend lying by the small pool furthest away from the pool bar for more peace and quiet. The games take place by the pool bar, but having said that they don't go on for long and aren't intrusive.
A big part of any holiday is obviously the food. I have been on a fair few all-inclusive holidays, but I have to say that the food in the buffet restaurant was undoubtedly the worst I have experienced - very bland and repetitive. However, I am not a moaner and the hotel more than makes up for this by offering no less than FOUR visits to the a la carte restaurants on-site. There is a Turkish, a Chinese, an Italian and a Seafood restaurant. I can't really decide which I enjoyed the most as they were all truly excellent! Because due to the flight times we only ended up having six evening meals in all, we only actually had to suffer one evening meal at the buffet restaurant as we ate out in nearby Kusadasi on the other evening. This is definitely what I would recommmend doing as eating out is so cheap in Turkey, in fact one bottle of wine cost more than the food where we ate! I'm sure the hotel knows that the buffet food is not up to scratch, hence why they offer these four a la carte visits free to maintain their 'five star' status.
We didn't go sight-seeing so I can't comment on that, but we did do a boat trip to 3 'beaches', which were all very disappointing. However, I can't knock the day out as it was only £10 per person with a free lunch which was good, so I would recommend doing it as a relaxing day away from the hotel. Book at one of the agents close to Ladies Beach, a fifteen minute walk from the hotel.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone for an inexpensive relaxing holiday. I'm not sure what advantages Turkey has over any other destination (apart from being cheap). This is the second time I've been to the country and I don't find the Turkish people particularly friendly compared to other countries I have visited. Don't expect too many smiles from the hotel staff, or indeed anyone else in the county for that matter! The food seems fairly good generally, without being over-impressive.
Finally, don't take too much notice of the average temperatures in Turkey. At the end of May it was in the low to mid-thirties, much hotter than we expected. The rep seemed to be saying that the temperatures were usually higher than everyone expected.
