I'm conflicted about giving this hotel a poor review, but I think it's important to provide other travelers honest recommendations and give the hotel staff productive feedback. But for ONE CRUCIAL PROBLEM, the Vezir Suites would be a great choice in Goreme.
The hotel sits among several similar "cave hotels," with a marvelous view of town and the chimney rocks that Cappadocia is famous for. The Vezir has a lovely balcony(where they serve delicious Turkish breakfasts every morning), free wi-fi and the rooms are clean, modern and charming arched cave suites(though the beds are a little hard for my wife's taste). And the staff? Really great, particularly for this level hotel. They made several tour reservations on our behalf, gave good advice on the town and even gave us a free ride to a nearby hiking trail.
So the bad part? Next to Vezir is a small private lot where a sad dog is chained up at all times. Beyond being absolutely pitiful, the dog begins howling and barking at 6:30 AM every morning. I am a sound sleeper and have lived in some of the loudest cities in the world, but it's impossible to sleep through this dog. It's unfortunate that so trivial a thing could really ruin a hotel, but if you can't sleep past 6:30 AM on your vacation, does anything else really matter?
I wish the hotel the best of luck in resolving this issue, because it really does seem like an easy fix. Unfortunately, when I spoke with the staff about it I was told they've been trying for years to negotiate with the neighbor to no avail. You'd be wise to ask about the "dog problem" before booking here.
