“Great Little find”
Reviewed 22 October 2010

Stayed a couple of days in October. Very relaxed and chilled place. Serdar and his family are great hosts. Room was clean and comfortable. The water took a little long to warm up though. Serdar held a barbie evening fish or chicke one night and the food was excellent. Breakfast was normal for Turkey, however had fresh omlette one day which was nice. This is a new hotel and so far so good.

I stayed here with a small group of friends in September.

The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Serdar was happy to pick us up from the bus station despite the fact that it's only about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Once we had a chance to settle in Serdar gave us the low down on things to see and do in the area and helped us with booking and general advice on local sites and places to eat/drink.

The group stayed in 2 cave rooms which were a unique experience and something that I would definitely suggest if you're staying in Cappadocia.

The breakfast offer was fantastic with a good quality buffet and freshly cooked eggs. On a couple of occasions we took up the offer of the hotel BBQ's which were great value and very tasty. Watching the sunset from the terrace is very much recommended.

The hotel is ideally located for the facilities of Goreme (although it is such a small place that nowhere is more than a 10 minute walk) and the nearby sites.

All in all this is a great hotel with helpful and friendly staff. It offers good value for money and I would recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting Cappadocia.

Goreme is very small so location is not as critical as everything is just a few minutes away. The hotel is small and cozy, we got room 113 which was a bit larger and on the second floor. Serder was very helpful in arranging the tours, balloon rides and shuttles to and from the airport. It is recommended that you talk to Serder before booking your travels as prices might be cheaper depending on where you book. We paid 130 euros per person for a 1 hr balloon ride. After viewing all the balloon action I thought this activity was well organized and I don't think there are many differences among balloon companies, so I would suggest getting the best deal (cheapest).

One more thing, rooms get done every other day, we didn't know this...

Overall good value choice for your visit to Cappadocia.

We chose this hotel to experience staying in a "Cave". What fun and comfortable stay it was that although our room was very "cave" like, it had a modern, clean bathroom. This newly opened hotel is run by a friendly and hospitable father and son team who were very knowledgeable to guide guests around the Cappadocia area and knew the routes of the Underground City. Opting for the private tour of Cappadocia with the hotel meant we didn't have to queue at the attractions and also spared us the usual obligatory visit to souvenir tourist traps as offered by most tour operators in Turkey. Balloon rides are a MUST and bookable through the hotel. But for those not too keen on flying in a basket, the hotel terrace overlooks the village and provides great views of the balloon filled skies in the morning. Time spent lounging on the hotel terrace often came with the friendly company of the house cat, Aslan. Breakfast buffet comprises of healthy traditional turkish fare, with fresh bread, and eggs can be made to order by chirpy chef Ilyas. There are several cave hotels in Goreme as the area is made of caves but this hotel had a good location of being 2mins walk from the main bus station. There's plenty of cafes and shops nearby and the Open Air Museum is within walking distance. A plus point was that the room rates were too cheap to ignore.

Our experience at Caranvanserai far exceeded our expectations. The cave room was fun to stay in and the standard rooms were also well equiped. However it was the people who made the stay such a memorable time. Serdar, Ilyas and Hatia (and Aslan) create such a relaxed friendly atmosphere you will not want to leave. There was boundless opportunities to fill your day but not an ounce of pressure to do anything. The terrace is a lovely place to start and end your day with gorgeous views of Goreme. Definitely the highlight of our trip to Turkey.

I stayed here for 4 nights with some friends and could not find fault with the hotel or the service we received. The owners and staff (including Aslan) were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. When we arrived we were given lots of information about tours we could do but did not feel any pressure to do anything we didn't want. Everything was very relaxed and all tours and trips could be booked by the hotel. The food was excellent. Traditional Turkish breakfasts with choice of eggs, thanks Ilyas! Evening BBQs were also good with plenty of food for eveyone. Thanks to all for making our stay an enjoyable one!
