“Great hotel with a great view!”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

Valleypark Hotel is located very near the center of Goreme up a small hill on a quiet side street, away from the main road which is often overrun by buses and vans. The owner of the place, Yusef, as well as his whole staff, were kind and helpful, and made us feel like guests in their home, always putting us before themselves. The breakfasts served were of traditional Turkish style, with a selection of cheeses, olives, fruit, bread, coffee, and tea served. The terrace sports a great view of Goreme, and is a great place to relax after hiking around. There is ample hot water and the water pressure was very good! Also, Yusef is able to organize balloon trips for prices that you would be hard pressed to beat elsewhere in Goreme.

We were a group of four. The location is good and the view is great. But what made a difference was the implication of our host, Yusuf. We arrived on the 29th of April and booked a baloon trip and a day trip. Unfortunately because of the bad weather our trip got cancelled. Because of bad weather in the previous days all flights for the next day were full. We had to leave the next day, so rebooking was a problem. Yusuf made the impossible possible by arranging a flight without having a reservation.

The homecooked dinner was delicious!

If you're coming to Cappadocia, you will be advised to take the cave hotel experience. It is not without merit - because you can get a hotel like Vallerypark at a nice location, barely 200 meters from the bus stop but you won't get the same experience.
Price-wise, it was just about alright and the rooms were archaic but clean.
The owner is a very nice man - having been a former hot air balloon pilot. Had we not booked earlier with Royal Balloons, we would have perhaps gone with his advice.
Overall, the stay was comfortable - they also have a decent breakfast laid out in a nice roof-top lounge and a small parking area to keep your hired vehicles.

PROS: I stayed in the 10-bed dormitory room for the first night. The hot water was not working in the bathroom so the owner kindly moved me into a triple room with ensuite for the rest of my stay for the same price as I paid for the dormitory bed. The room was very clean, beds very comfortable and very quiet at night so I had a good sleep. Buffet breakfast is very good and views from terrace is fantastic. The owner has 2 dogs and several puppies who are entertaining to watch and play with.

CONS:
The bathrooms in the dormitory were clean but the bedsheets were on beds were not changed from the previous guests' use and the room was not clean. The bed mattresses were also old and worn out and I suspect that cleaning and maintaining the dormitory is not a priority for the hotel (as I have seen in most hotels/ hostels in Turkey.

The owner Yusuf is friendly and helpful but sometimes got impatient with me because he thought I asked too many questions. His brother and co-manager Ali was less willing to help and I had the strong impression that he doesn't enjoy his job and tourists very much.

Overall it is a good place to stay if you stay in a room in the hotel and not in the hostel dormitory. The dogs maybe a problem if you don't like animals.

Really enjoyed my stay here - I am a backpacker and have been traveling for 11 months or so. Valleypark hotel was a great place to rest my head after 6 busy days in Cappadocia.

I liked the hotel and Cappadocia so much that I ended up staying 6 nights instead of my originally planned 4.

Yusuf and the entire staff are all really friendly and helpful. I stayed in the dormitory all 6 nights - it is a great value for the money and is not crowded.

Wifi works great, and I got a good nights rest each night in the cool room - the beds were also comfortable. Though I was traveling by myself, this is also a great place for families and couples - the ones I talked to had also really enjoyed their stay.

Breakfast is also good, every morning 8-10, with a great view from the terrace over the town of Goreme. If you wake up early enough (6-630) you have a great view from terrace of all the hot air balloons rising up from the town.

A quick walk from the bus station but they will pick you up if you call in advance.

Whether a family, a couple, or a backpacker, I would recommend Valleypark for your stay in Goreme!
