“Koza Cave: Great reason to visit Goreme”
Reviewed 20 September 2013

Koza Cave was the highlight of our Turkey accommodations. The Dural Family welcomed our foursome. Samed juggled the many duties of chief administrator: check-in, check-out, arranging tours, giving directions, serving tea and assisting with boarding passes. He is proficient in English, Dutch, Turkish (of course) - and IT. Samed is assisted by his uncle, Mustafa, and his mother, aunt, sister and dad. His dad designed and built the hotel improvements over five years. It is masterfully crafted. Rooms are all a unique combination of carved and block tuffa; and provide all the modern. energy-efficient amenities one might need. Private bathrooms are clean and luxurious. Several outside patios and decks provide views of the surround hills of Cappadocia and opportunities to mingle with other guests. The breakfast is abundant, fresh and delicious; and the coffee was second only to Samed's cousin's (Abas) espresso and latte served down the hill in town. I would return to Turkey just to stay at Koza Cave; is that recommendation enough?

Room Tip: Every room is good - one can not go wrong.

Koza was absolutely the highlight of our recent trip to Turkey. From the moment we booked, the staff of this family owned and operated hotel in Goreme accomodated our every need. From scheduling hot-air balloon rides to giving us suggestions for places to eat, everyone was very friendly and helpful. We even changed our departing flight to spend extra time at the hotel chatting with guests and staff. We absolutely recommend this hotel and look forward to visiting again some day.

Room Tip: We went for the King Suite (at the top of the Fairy Chimney). It's a little more but definitely...

The whole booking process was efficient and the emails from the hotel friendly and informative. (Thanks Sam)

We arrived in the evening and had pre-booked our transfer with the hotel. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Sam and his brother Tom and shown to our Deluxe Suite. Although I had done lots of research and seen many photos, there was a definite 'wow' as we were shown around.

The suite consists of the entrance stairs both outside and inside which lead to the bedroom on the right. To the left of the stairs you have a seating area with tea/coffee facilities. The bathroom leads off this and has a jacuzzi bath. Through an archway and you have the shower, small hamam and WC. There are various steps within the suite and a window in both the bedroom and sitting area. We also had an outside seating area next our outside steps.

Most of the furnishings, both inside and outside are recycled items. It's all been very cleverly and tastefully done.

There are many terraces to choose from, mainly overlooking Pigeon Valley, however from the top terrace you can also see the town of Goreme at your feet. A great position for watching the balloons in the morning and just for chilling.

Don't expect a lie-in in Capadoccia as you'll probably be waking early either for an excursion, to take a balloon trip or just to watch them. Expect some noise as guests are getting ready for the early activities. Why would you want to miss it anyway?

The hotel will help you with any excursions, information etc as they are affiliated with Metis Travel. A great combination and meaning you can pay for some things directly with the hotel. We went on the red trip with them and they also arranged for our coach tickets for our onward journey for Fethiye. The hotel also arranged our balloon trip with Butterfly Balloons.

Although a fairly new family venture, we found them to be conscious of our needs and those of other guests. A special thanks to both Sam and Mustafasa. Mustafasa could be seen around the hotel at all times: don't forget to keep watering the plants!

You can reach the centre of Goreme from the hotel by taking the left turning out of the hotel and down the stairs. Downhill there but don't forget uphill on the return!

An amazing place and one we hope to go back to very soon.

Room Tip: Deluxe suite suited all our needs. Plenty of space, very cosy and so different from the normal hote...

I have to echo the other reviewers of Koza Cave Hotel. Samet and Mustafa were incredibly welcoming and helpful and the rooms managed to combine tradition, warmth and elegance (and of course cave walls!). Terraces scattered around the property give you a real sense of personal space -- as well as excellent views of the valley, sunset and early morning balloons. Great restaurant tips as well. Highly recommended.

We stayed in Koza for 2 nights and the experience was faultless. Samed handled all our requests perfectly and everyone was smiley and helpful in the hotel. Our standard double room was nicely decorated and we got everything we needed in the room. 10 mins walk from town centre, very convenient.
There are plenty of terrace space you can enjoy with. And the terrace is the best place to see the stars!!!! We came from city and we were so amazed by the number and brightness of the stars in cappadocia! Do spend some evening time on terrace for the stars and you will not regret!
Koza supplies free coffee, tea and water to make sure you feel alright all the time. Mustafa was always around to ensure our comfortness.
This is the best hotel among the 4 hotels i stayed in my 9 days turkey trip! Highly recommend!

Smiling faces, superb location, the total package! We had an over-eager baggage handler who broke the handle of our suitcase, this was promptly fixed by Mustafa just after we arrived and got settled at Koza. Our double-bedded room was spacious with 2 day beds to give additional relaxing experience, that is if you didn't want to go up to the terrace and take in the fantastic view of the valley while sipping on a EFES beer or wine. Really if you are going to visit Goreme you must stay at Koza Cave Hotel.

Very clean, cute cave hotel owned/operated by the nicest, most-helpful family. Was able to book a last-minute room in April. Sam (son, working the front desk) arranged for us to be picked up in the late pm at the Kayseri airport and transported to the Koza Hotel in Goreme. There was a comfortable, picturesque cave room waiting for us (not a fairy chimney room - those are the most highly coveted and are usually reserved). We walked outside in the early am (around 6:30am) and saw the hot air balloons floating through the valley. The front desk can help you arrange a hot air balloon trip with a respected local company, if you are interested (and if the weather is good enough - a well respected company will not fly in bad weather conditions). They also have info on Goreme (dining, open-air museum, walking/hiking routes, etc) and tours to other nearby attractions. In the am, there is a complementary breakfast buffet with traditional Turkish and European fare (tomatoes, olives, meat, cheese, bread, jam, cereal, milk, fresh-squeezed orange juice, tea, coffee, and maybe some things that I am forgetting). The family also helped us with bus info (bus company recommendations, travel times) and transported us to the nearby bus station on our departure. If I am fortunate enough to return to Goreme, I will definitely stay at the Koza Cave Hotel again. My second choice (if they are full) would probably be the Sultan Cave Hotel (right next door) or the Traveler's Inn (close by).

Room Tip: We stayed in two different cave hotel rooms while there. Both were clean, comfortable and picturesq...
