My husband and I recently spent two nights at the Goreme House and found the family who runs the hotel to be warm, friendly, and helpful. We stayed in the Stone Suite - just have to watch your head if you are over 5'6" - but then all of Cappadoccia is that way! We would recommend staying in Goreme and at the Goreme House - it was easy to get around and walk to all the restaurants.

We just left the Goreme House yesterday after spending five full days. We had the standard room downstairs, which is small. However, we only slept there, since whenever we were "home" we sat right in front of our room, on very comfortable seating in the courtyard, enjoying our tea or a glass of wine, reading or playing cards, or simply watching the goings on. Through the open gate we could see a rooster strutting with his chickens, the local little ones playing in the street , just a very relaxing rural atmosphere. The location is great, just a short walk down the hill to the main street, where most of the stores and restaurants are.

The people at the hotel were all extremely helpful and nice and when we left yesterday it was like leaving family. All outings were arranged through the hotel and there never were any problems. If you consider a hot air balloon tour, (and we really recommend it!) make sure you speak to Halis, the son, who is a pilot himself. Emine, the daughter, has won a special place in our hearts with her wonderful smile and her warm demeanor. Neither one of us can think of any thing negative to say about this place.

Goreme is small and very laid back, a perfect spot after hectic but wonderful Istanbul. No high pressure vendors and very friendly local people - wish I could speak Turkish...

If not the best hotel we've ever stayed at, it was certainly the best value -- and by far the friendliest owners, who give new meaning to the term "host." We asked to change our reservations not once but twice; this was accomplished with no fuss or penalties. 60 euros/night gave us a comfortably sized room with immaculate furnishings & bathroom, 100+-channel TV, not to mention a window facing out on the most dazzling and fantastical-looking city-street scenery on planet Earth.
Further nice surprises awaited outdoors: a 3rd-story terrace with an even more fantastical view, and in the courtyard, a bar/dining area where we were served tea gratis.
We arranged a transfer by van to the airport on our night back to the airport. For whatever reason, the shuttle service wouldn't take us. So the owner drove us in HIS van -- at 4 in the morning.

My friend and I truly enjoyed our stay at this charming little inn run by a Turkish family. The location is footsteps from Goreme's main street with plenty of dining options and tourist conveniences nearby. Our room was on the small side but considering we were not in it except to sleep, we did not mind. You really don't come to Cappadocia to sit in your hotel room, so I wasn't entirely sure what the fuss about cave rooms and cave suites is all about. Halis was an excellent host as was his father. Although neither of them smile very much, they are extremely kind and helpful when it comes to making sure their guests enjoy their visit to this captivating region. He was unfailingly honest about tour options, telling us exactly what to expect from the vehicles, guides and itineraries. The prices for tours were incredibly reasonable and competitively priced from what we saw around the village. Although he is also a pilot for a hot air balloon company, Halis went out of his way to make sure we knew we could go with a competitor and did not present any kind of hard sell whatsoever. My friend wanted to see a whirling dervish spectacle. Halis' father made all the arrangements and even drove us to the neighboring village (5 km away) before the show and waited for us before driving us back to the inn. Both father and son recommended great local walks from the inn to the spectacular vista point at the top of the street, the Love Valley, Pigeon Valley and Cavusin (highly recommended).

Breakfast was hearty and homemade with fresh local ingredients, although nothing fancy. We enjoyed the view from the breakfast room (it was too cold to eat al fresco in March). My only qualm in recommending Goreme House is that if you're a light sleeper, it is very close to the minaret of one of the two mosques in the village. Depending on the season the first call to prayer may awaken you as early as 5 am. If you're not used to travel in Islamic countries this may be a shocker for you. On a positive note, it's an excellent alarm clock for the morning on which you go ballooning - an awesome experience and one you won't forget.

Halis' restaurant recommendations were also very good. In addition to the fine dine restaurant Orient (great) he sent us to, I would recommend you get lunch or a snack at Nazar Borek Gozleme on the main street. Both the borek and the gozleme were excellent and the baker/owner is charming. Also, there was a newly opened kebab/pide/pizza place at the foot of the hill below the inn on the main street where we ate a fantastic local meal of "Desti Kebab" - meat cooked in a pottery urn sealed with bread. It doesn't get much better than that.

I do not understand the rave reviews about this hotel on this site. We booked the stone "suite" for two nights after reading the great reviews on tripadvisor and were very disappointed. It is not a suite, simply a medium large room in need of a good cleaning that cost 95 Euro per night. Kelebek, PashaHan, or the more expensive Esbelli Evi are much better choices. The ceiling of the stone room is beautiful, but it is downhill from there.

An ugly couch was squeezed in next to the queen size bed in place of a more usable bedside table and lamp; the door to the bathroom is about 1.6 meters high, so if you forget to duck down far enough, you will get a nasty bump from the sharp edges of the door; there is hardly enough room for one suitcase let alone two; and the breakfast is poor. The internet didn't work during our entire visit and the manager was surly and unhelpful. This is the first review that I have submitted here; there are better choices.

My friend and I were both unwell when we arrived here, but the family at the hotel were just so great to us and really made us feel comfortable. It really is a nice little hotel to stay, easy to get to and from and only around the corner from the little town. It is also a nice comfortable size and the dining room is very comfortable and the food was lovely.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone travelling to Cappadocia.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in stone suite. Everything was perfect - location of hotel, our room - clean, lovely decorated, enought spacious, with comfortable bed. The weather outside wasn't so good - but in room was warm. And the most important sing - everybody's hospitality. Mr Halis helped us with everething - with renting a car, ordering transfer, сhoice of route or restaurant and so on. We was really happy after this trip.
