“Had a great time”

We really enjoyed our time at the Kelebek. We stayed in Rm 106. There were three of us traveling and the room was nice, well kept and spacious. The staff was super friendly and very willing to assist with us with any questions they had. We went on three tours that the staff helped us book: the hot air balloon ride (very cool), horse back riding and a day tour of the surrounding area where we went to a number of towns, monastaries, underground cities. We thought each was very worthwhile. We ate at nazar borek, a small lively place with good food in goreme and then at the restaurant at the sultan (very yummy, more upscale). I would definitely recommend this place.

The entire experience was wonderful, from when we walked in the door we instantly felt more relaxed and were greeted by the extremely informative and polite concierge/ receptionists. They took care of everything including all our excursions, highly recommend a Butterfly Balloon trip while you're there! The hotel was clean and the grounds unique and beautiful, with well kept flowers and lovely views of the truly special valley.

We loved Kelebek Hotel! It is such a gorgeous building, and the rooms are tastefully furnished. Its location in Cappadocia is outstanding, with great views of the surrounding area. The staff were super helpful and friendly, and made all our travel plans a "no brainer" for us. It's so helpful to be able to make plans for hot air balloon rides and tours etc right at the hotel, without having to do a lot of "leg work" ourselves. The breakfasts were sumptuous, and it was so relaxing to hang out in the garden of Kelebek for breakfast. After a long day of sightseeing in the heat, it was great to come "home" and plunge into the pretty pool.
I would definitely return, and would encourage others to try Kelebek. You won't be disappointed. Thanks for a wonderful, relaxing stay in beautiful Goreme.

Room Tip: We stayed in room #17 and it was lovely. The view from the patio was magnificent.

I can't say enough about this place. A great value for the price, but most impressive was the hospitality. Hasan is a top-notch manager. He provided us with a bottle of wine upon our arrival (we were on our honeymoon). Then he happily booked us on a few tours, which is perhaps fairly standard. However, two days later he also spent nearly an hour helping us to change our flight. All so that we could stay one more night at this fabulous place.

Staying in the caves is a very novel way to travel. The cats that lounge on the scenic back deck are lots of fun, too!

One special thing about this cave hotel is that every room is different and you can choose the room style you like during booking, there are plenty of photos of each room/suite on the hotel website to help you make a decision.

We initially booked our room from Sultan Caves Hotel website, from my understanding, they are linked sister hotels. But when we arrived, we were taken to a different room to what we had chosen without even mentioning to us they swapped us. When asked why, and whether we could choose another one, the hotel manager became very defensive about it as it was low season, they closed down a section of the hotel, which was where our original chosen room was. This is perfectly understandable, and we would not have felt much difference if it was explained to us in a friendly way. Just something to be careful about.

The replacement room was of the similar condition and price range so it was all fine in the end. I would rate it 5 stars if it was not for this hiccup, as it did ruin our mood for a bit, not because of our room being swapped but the manager's attitude towards our query.

I would still recommend this hotel to friends and family though, as it is a very beautiful and well maintained hotel. The terrace area has stunning views over the town. Goreme is amazing, the hotel also arrange tours for you. Our hot-air balloon ride was booked through the hotel, and it was probably better than some of the cheaper companies you can get in town as they tend to pack more people into larger baskets under one balloon.

We also booked another tour in town center to visit the underground city, Ilarah and the fairy chimneys as the hotel associated tour company was not running the same tour. That turned out to be very good too.

Hotel breakfast was very nice, a lot of choices. You can sit either inside or out on the terrace. Staff are generally friendly.

We arrived at the Kelebek mid morning after an overnight train from Istanbul, we had a sleeper so was well rested but very hungry as the dining sleeper on the train simply wasn't there. On arrival, we met our host who gave us excellent service. We were taken to the top outside dining area with spectacular views over Goreme, and we ordered off the lunch menu. Our room was lovely with an open fireplace, stereo, pretty much everything you need. 2nd & 3rd night we moved to a suite which, in my opinion was not as cosy as the first room. Anyone with walking issues or knee problems, wouldn't cope very well. The restaurant dinner food was pretty average but the breakfast was great, buffet style and a lot of variety, which was included in the tarrif.. Kelebek is only a short walk from town centre, short but hilly. Internet is available for free in the main areasof the hotel eg: dining room and even some rooms. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: I think the rooms are better value than the suites, less expensive and far more cosy.
