“Wonderful and unique”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2013

We spent 4 nights at the Kelebek hotel in a fairy chimney room, and loved it – something we would recommend to anyone going to Cappadocia. To answer some of the concerns regarding cave rooms: it was immaculate and there was no dust. The Kelebek staff is wonderful, and they helped up planning the days and making the restaurant reservations.

The hotel is not quite in the center of Goreme, but close enough to be within walking distance for restaurants. The early morning views of the balloons are amazing, right from the terrace. Breakfast is extensive and delicious. We would definitely go back.

Kelebek Hotel was one of the best hotel which we stayed in for my honeymoon in Turkey. The staff is expert at giving advises & recommendations & absolutely not pushy to purchase other activities from hotel agency.

We had booked room number 7 (Deluxe room) but since it was our honeymoon they upgraded us to King Suit (room number 17). King Suit has our own private terrace, spacious room having fireplace. We also received a free wine from them as it was my wife's birthday the day we checked in!!

It was a memorable day when we were drinking wine sitting at the fireplace when outside temperature was -2 degrees celsius!

The breakfast is quite sumptuous & tasty. It also had adequate variety for vegetarians.

Overall, my opinion is extremely favourable for Kelebek hotel & I would say just go for it!!
Trip Adviser reviews are very much authentic for this hotel.

We stayed for three nights at this charming hotel and it was heaven. It has a perfect setting, slightly up the hill from downtown Goreme but still only a short walk to the restaurants. The hotel itself is a pleasing mixture of the old "fairy castle" cave dwellings, mixed nicely with newer construction that blends well, all using the lemon colored natural stone of the area. Service is both very friendly and competent-wow!

The included breakfasts are served buffet style with a large selection of well cooked Turkish and foreign foods. One of the things not to miss is the complimentary choice of accompaning Ali, the personable owner, out to his family farm nearby for a breakfast. This is done using a wagon pulled by a tractor, and you find yourself eventually hiking a short distance down into a secluded valley, sort of a little Shangri-La. There your fresh breakfast is served outside on group tables, and you get to explore what a Turkish farm is all about. It is also a demonstration of ecologically sound principles used at this site and a lot of the fresh fruits and vegetables produced are used back at the hotel.

The hotel is very fairly priced and an outstanding value.

Our experience staying at this hotel was wondering. The staff was soo helpful and friendly as soon as you walk in the door and the rooms are spotless and unique. My favorite feature about this hotel is that you have a fireplace in your room (wood-burning). In the evening my husband and I would drink wine and play checkers by the fireplace. The location is perfect, walking distance to a lot of sights. We rented a car which made it very convenient to get around to different cities. I 100% recommend staying here on your trip.

We stayed at Kelebek Hotel based on the recommendation of a friend who had stayed there a year ago. We were not disappointed! We were three girlfriends traveling together and the triple cave room was perfect for us for the three nights we were in Cappadocia! I mean, how awesome is it to stay in a cave?! Outside our room was a perfect view of the hot air balloons every morning. The breakfast was amazing every day - so much to choose from! The staff was very friendly and attentive. They always had many suggestions for us of things to do and places to eat. Staying at the Kelebek Hotel was a true highlight of our trip!

We stayed unfortuntely only two nights in this place. We would have stayed at least a week. Most of the hotel, as its famous surroundings, carved in the stone. The rooms are cosy, comfortable and warm. The food is simple and tasty. Our hosts at the reception are very amicable and full of knowledge about what to do to get the best of your stay. They put all the options on the table according to your needs, preferences and time you are going to be in the area. Do you want a tour? They will book it for you. Do you want to do it on your own They will give you the directions! They have their own hamam that you can use whether you want a treatment, massage or if you only want to lie down and sweat it out for a while. We had a bubble and scrub massage. It was performed beautifully!!!!!

Room Tip: I believe some of the rooms are actually ancient caves. You can request them in advance!

My friend and I stayed at Kelebek for three nights (2 in a fairy chimney room and 1 in cave room). The fairy chimney room in particular had a lot of character and complemented our exploration of all the stone cut churchs and living quarters in the Cappadocia area. The only downside was the presence of only one outlet, but what can you do when the room wasn't originally designed for electricity.

The terrace was an amazing place to watch the hot air balloons rise and the breakfast variety was very generous. You also get a discount on the hot air balloon ride if you go with the affiliated Butterfly Balloons. The staff were very informative and even helped us organize a car rental for exploration of the surrounding areas.

If you are staying in Goreme, I highly recommend you at least plan one night here for both the ambiance and the pleasant staff.
