We had a fantastic time in Cappadocia, which was in large part thanks to Mert Kura,
the Manager at Kelebek. He made us feel welcomed, comfortable, informed and safe (knowledge is empowering).

He freely offered insights, suggestions and recommendations which steered us to the best restaurants, wines (including from his own vineyard), scooter company, towns to visit, roads to take, etc.

We loved our room, with its heated marble floor, and charming fireplace which we used every night. The breakfasts were a cornucopia of delicious options, the restaurant served the best haydari we had in Turkey, and the staff everywhere was warm and attentive.

Having a hamam on the property was another plus. That was our first experience in a Turkish bath house, and the soap and scrub treatment (standard) was heavenly-- even nicer than our subsequent experience in Istanbul.

Another plus for the hotel, and the reason I was swayed to stay there, is that the tours which they arrange are for their hotel guests only, so you're not with large groups and big buses having a commercialized experience. At Kelebek, they believe in maintaining the beauty and sanctity of the area, even as they and the region grow to meet the demands of expanding tourism.

We will be back.

Room Tip: I gave the "fitness center" a rating, even though there's no fitness center, but the Hamam (spa) was what I was rating. Best advice is to have a dialogue about what you want and ask for their recommendations on the rooms. Many choices, sometimes hard to pick. Fairy Chimney suites are much smaller but magical. The reason for their pricing being as 'expensive' as other bigger rooms is because of the rent that the hotel pays to the government for these caves, which are technically national 'treasures'.... Ask Mert to explain. He'll do a better job than me. ;-)

Great location overlooking Goreme. The staff was very attentive, and they gave us great suggestions for tours, hikes, and food. They have a sister restaurant called Seten that is nearby and is the best food I had while in Goreme. Breakfast at Kelebek was also very nice. Also, my friend and I forgot our passports at the hotel, and someone was dispatched to the airport in Nevsehir (45 minutes away) immediately to bring us our passports. He arrived in plenty of time, and there was no charge for this service. The people at this hotel just do their jobs well. In addition, they seemed to enjoy talking about the area with me. If they couldn't answer my question, then they put me in touch with the right people to learn about Turkish wine, rugs, etc. Hamam was also nice. Stay at Kelebek.

Our stay at Kelebek was by far the best of our trip in Turkey. The gracious hosts were nothing but kind, helpful, endearing, and always anticipated our needs/wants. They helped us make the most of our short time in Cappadocia and offered terrific suggestions on what to do and see in the area. We were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant and the included breakfast was quite the spread! Our cave room was such a unique and wonderful experience and the fireplace we had in our room was awesome to come home to at the end of each day. The hotel is perfectly located within walking distance of the town center, the open air museum and hiking trails. The value of this hotel is incredible and we would absolutely stay here again and recommend it without any reservation.

Room Tip: Room 13 has an awesome fireplace!

This place is a one off, located in a fairy castle in the middle of Goreme.
Many rooms are built into a castle and are unique.
The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts offer a wonderful range of Turkish delicacies. Good quality tea and coffee is provided in the lounge at all time.
A lovely place to stay, and definitely recommended highly.

Stayed here March 2014. The staff were extremely helpful and the hotel is lovely and clean. They helped us to arrange tours. They also suggested hiking (no cost) and even gave me a free ride to the trail head. The terrace has a lovely view of the town.

Room Tip: Room 13 is an actual cave, with a wonderful bathroom. Room 114 has a wonderful view of the town.
