“Outrageously priced.”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

This ceremony is very interesting. Read the pamphlet explaining the ceremony before you sit through the ceremony so that you understand what is going on. The 'show' was supposed to be 45 minutes long and was 35 minutes. What is really outrageous however is the price! It should be about 1/3 of what is charged. Read the pamphlet, skip the show, and spend your money elsewhere in Goreme

“Interesting”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

We were not able to see the Whirling Dervishes in Konya, so we decided to see this show in Goreme instead. Of course, they don't like it when it is described as a "show", the term "religious ceremony" is preferred: no photos during the show, no applause. However, after the official performance you get 5 minutes to take photos and videos of the Dervishes. This is clearly a commercial operation, but it is still interesting: 40 minutes of show + 5 minutes of photos. The music and the incantations are a bit repetitive, but still interesting if you keep in mind that the Sufi sect was established in the 13th century. Recommended if you are staying in Goreme are close by, easy to get to by car. The price is a bit high (20 Euros or equivalent), but worth it if you are interested in Sufism.

“Different but overpriced”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

We took this option on our Turkey trip as it appeared different. I had watched a You Tube video before going and thought there would be a bit more to the show but unfortunately there wasn't. It started with a flute player who sounded terribly out of tune and that went on for ages. The actual whirling is quite amazing that they keep their balance etc but the overall show was disappointing and I wouldn't recommend it in Gorem. Perhaps somewhere else they have a better show.

“Amazing Dervishes”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

Wow, this was by far one of the more entertaining nights in Goreme. Our tour group was the epitome of fun and joined in on the dancing. The evening was energetic and the atmosphere almost electric as everybody was in high spirits. The food and the drinks were in abundance and very tasty. Service was awesome. Although pricey, the show proved to be a success with all in the group
