Euros 130 per person for a 1 hr balloon ride is very expensive, specially in this part of the world. But then, this is Cappadocia, and most people end up taking a balloon ride, so the balloon companies make hay while the sun shines, that is literally. Two days in a row, the rides were cancelled due to inclement weather. We had to wait for the third day, when the weather turned out to be just perfect. Everything works like clockwork, very professional and organized. It was a very smooth ascent, smooth ride throughout, and a very smooth descent and landing. However, there were 24 people plus 2 pilots cramped in a basket that was really meant for no more than 16. The pilot was trying to be funny and cracking jokes that fell flat with all the Chinese on the ride who were far more absorbed with their cameras than what the pilot was saying. The ride was truly stunning, flying extremely low over almost all the major tourist attractions. Just as we thought the basket will scrap the side of the mountain, the pilot would raise it up! The sky was ablaze with at least 100 of these giant balloons in all colors and designs, and that alone was a sight to behold.
