“wonderful!”
Reviewed 23 July 2014 via mobile

We have stayed for three nights in this nice hotel, which is in a very good position to visit Cappadocia.

The rooms are very agreable, with a large bow window with sight on the mountains.

The staff is very very kind: we had a problem with the road e we arrived at the hotel at three in the night; and we had to awake the concierge. He received us with a large smile , gave us the keys of the rooms and all the infomations and only the morning after asked our documents.

The owner is very agreable and helpful.

The breakfast is very rich and homemade. We asked to prepare us some sandwiches for the trip and the cook made them soon for a very cheap price. Thanks all of them for an unforgettable staying!

It felt like home, everyone was so kind and helpful.
The food tasted really fresh and the general manager (Musa, who has been in tourism for ages and really takes time for you and takes care of every detail) even took us to the fruit and vegetable market and gave us a little taste of the Turkish atmosphere in villages, like Göreme.
The rooms are very big and either they have airconditioning or it's naturally a bit colder.
The staff all speak English (some multiple languages) and can tell you alot about the history of Kapadokya.
We didn't feel like tourists, but more like part of the family.
We would love to come back soon.

I've just came back from Kapadokya and I spent 3 nights in this hotel this week. This was my second time in Kapadokya (staying in Göreme) this year. The hotel was really nice starting from the owner and the whole staff that are kind people, trying to help you, but more over, trying to make you enjoy your staying there. The hotel has a really good view from the terrace that you can use for having breakfast, lunch, dinner or just to relax when you go back to the hotel. The food is bought in a local market (I visited the market with the owner myself) and cooked by the staff. For the breakfast there is a good choice, from traditional Turkish products to home made cakes and even "petek balı" that I didn't find in all the buffets in Turkey (good surprise)!!! I was also offered a nice plate of food before I left the hotel the day of the departure for free, and this is always to be appreciated! I really felt at home there!!!

The SOS Cave Hotel has clean rooms and is in a quiet and peaceful location with beautiful views of Uchisar and the countryside and it is about a five minute walk to enjoy all the town has to offer. If you rise early you will be lucky to see many hotair balloons in the morning sky. The owner, Musa is friendly, helpful with planning activities and genuinely interested in helping you have the best experience and memory of your time in Cappadocia. The hotair balloon ride was the number one priority of our trip and Musa helped us book the best deal for our first balloon ride and we were all very pleased with the experience. The location offers easy access to many wonderful hiking trails which we really enjoyed! One day we were getting off on a late start so to make it easier for us Musa drove us to the starting point of a lovely trail that leads right back to the hotel! I would like to say how happy I was with the food! Musa does all the shopping himself in the local farmers market searching out the best quality for his restaurant where the chef (and sometimes Musa himself) cook up some tasty healthy foods; even when we came back late from a hike fresh dishes were prepared and even at that late hour served with smiles. The staff are all friendly, wonderful and anxious to please the guests; they will do all they can to make sure you are comfortable. Musa and his staff really make you feel like you are among friends! I will definitely recommend the SOS Cave Hotel to my friends for an authentic memorable experience!

Room Tip: I loved my room above the terrace with the magnificent views!

The SOS Cave Hotel is the perfect base to explore Cappadocia from. The owner, Musa, is the real deal. He is genuine with his warmth and willingness to make your stay comfortable and memorable. We began our experience with an email reply from Musa thanking us for choosing the SOS and asking if we need any help with transport from Kayseri airport to his hotel. He also asked if there was anything else he could help with in the planning of our stay. Our number one priority was a ballon ride, which I highly recommend (pun intended!) Musa presented a few options and steered us away from wasting money with the 1.5 hour flight which was going to be a lot more expensive for very little gain....30 mins. I share this so that that those of you who may be wary of taking advice and/or booking through a hotel, you can definitely trust Musa to find you the best deal and guide you in your choices. He is a man of genuine integrity whose sole goal is to make your stay in Cappadocia a memorable one. He offers up advice, knowledge and bends over backwards to make sure you are comfortable and happy. His hotel is very clean, the staff friendly and warm and the breakfast food choices varied enough to keep your taste buds happy for many days (we stayed a week.) Fresh fruits and vegetables, various cheeses, cereals, biscuits, bread, jams, dried fruits, olive choices, boiled eggs, hot food choices....all delicious and fresh! As a matter of fact, if you are fortunate enough to be at the SOS Cave Hotel on Friday, you can accompany Musa to Avanos to the bazaar where he personally selects his produce. It's a great outing for those who want to see and experience a bit of real life off the tourist track.

The room we stayed in is considered 'standard', not a cave, which was our choice. We opted for the beautiful view from the enclosed balcony which looks over the SOS Terrace and valley towards Uchisar. If you don't have one of these rooms, you can still enjoy the incredible view from the terrace. We woke our first morning to see the hot air balloons just outside of our window in the valley! If you want to see more than the few that go up the valley, climb the stairs to the rooftop where you'll see what looks like a 100 of them filling the sky....a spectacular sight and a great a way to start the adventure. The hotel itself is located a short 5 minute walk from the center of town. It's close enough to enjoy all the town center has to offer, yet far enough away to settle into the piece and quite of the countryside. A great location!

If you find yourself hungry at the end of the day, I highly recommend eating at the SOS. Musa and his chef offer up delicious, fresh meals. Everything is cooked to order, including the clay pot special, unlike the restaurants in town, so it's best to give Musa a heads up if you want a full course meal. But if you find yourself arriving back late and hungry, no worries! We had delicious soup, bread, mezes, Cappadocian wine close to midnight! All enjoyed with Musa who became a friend we could laugh with, go to for help and bombard with questions. I can't say enough about SOS Cave Hotel...go and experience real Turkish hospitality yourself!

Room Tip: Tell Musa what you are looking for...he listens!

Thanks the hotel host, Musa, for arranging a wonderful trip for us!

After making reservation online, the hotel sent us email asap and was ready for providing assistance on planning our trip.
Few days before we arrive Kapadokya, we worried about the weather and we can reserve hot air balloon flight. We sent email to the hotel for assistance and they replied the email very fast. That made us felt relieved.

Upon arrival, Musa chatted with us. We liked his sense of humour and we can felt his passion on running a home like hotel, also his passion on helping people in need. My wife lost a paper bag on the shutter bus, he helped us to contact the shutter company and found it. We were so grateful .

The cave house was special experience for us! We were living in the house with balcony. The view there was magnificent! We can see the hot air gallons too

As Musa has been running the hotel for 25 years, he knew well on what hot air balloon companies or day trip companies are reliable. We had an once-in-a-life experience in hot air balloon trip (believe me, Musa made very good suggestion and arranged us with good pilot!).

Musa likes cooking and he made us a special dinner! local delicious food!

Highly recommended!
