“Cave in and stay here.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2013

This is one of the very best hotels in the entire Cappadocia area. We had a king suite which was partially built right into a cave. There was lots of space in the living room, bedroom and bathroom. There is an amazing underground spa facility with a beautiful indoor pool that also connects to the outdoor one. The hotel is also very easy walking distance to the main street where the shops and restaurants are.

This hotel is a great place to stay in this area - as it is all built around caves it is the perfect place to absorb the true character of the cappadocian rock formations. Our room was apparently the "presidential suite" (we got upgraded) and was a spread of rooms. Naturally it was very dark but it also smelt rather dusty and stuffy. I suppose that is inevitable to a certain extent but my children seemed to have better rooms with more light (the way they were arranged allowed that) and they didn't have the dusty smell. So avoid the presidential suite! However the other two rooms we had were lovely and really nicely done with interesting bottles nestling in inglenooks and nicely furnished with turkish carpets etc. I think our room was just a bit dated. The hotel itself is well done and looks great. The staff were friendly - apart from the Spa. I went to try and have a swim in the spa pool at the end of a dusty day of sightseeing but was turfed out half way in as I had not paid the full deal i.e. 40 lire for a turkish bath, massage etc. I simply wanted a dip! However when I mentioned this to the hotel receptionist, he sorted it out and a couple of hours later the manager came to find me and offered me full use of the pool without the obligation to purchase the deal. A good outcome. The spa area was unfinished with loose tiles laid out on the edges waiting to be stuck down and showers full of building equipment. However I have no doubt when it is finished it will be lovely. The interior design is good. Don't bother eating here - or in the attached restaurant. Better to head over to a restaurant over the road. Breakfast is not spectacular though there is plenty of yogurt and fruit. They do a good fried egg! As a location, it is excellent - all the main attractions are not far away.
On balance, to be recommended as the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, however just except that, as others have said, you may have to sacrifice a little comfort but it is so authentic it is well worth the sacrifice.

This place is a unique experience but you must be willing to sacrifice a little comfort. We were put in a very large , two story suite. It was furnished in authentic Turkish furnishings and will give you a unique experience and photos to show your friends. However, there is not much air circulation and it was very stuffy. The service is not great, but the breakfast was pretty good. Overall, it worked for a couple of nights, but it is not the Four Seasons!

In summer 2012 we stayed in Anatolian house and it was amazing everything in this hotel was amazing, then me and my father decided to visit göreme again so we stayed in Anatolian house for 3 days. The service, the food, everything everything in it was amazing. Every time we entrance the reception everyone were smiling and all. even though we are from UAE\Dubai. Finally I love this hotel a lot!<3

I hesitated to write my review after reading some of the others but thought that would be unfair to the hotel and a loss for other travelers who want an exceptional experience. And the last thing this hotel is is average. The uniqueness in staying here is that you are literally staying in a cave room built into the tufa rock not some faux location. Yes, you may have to climb many steps to reach your room and yes, if you need to be shown around your hotel, this may not be the place for you. The rooms have multiple chambers and are not conducive to reading in bed if that’s a requirement for you. BUT if you want your breadth taken away at the sight of hot air balloons floating over the white rock landscape as you stand on you terrace or when you open your door at night to the starlit sky, a bright moon and the haunting song of the muezzin - call me crazy - this is the place to stay. And personally, my husband and I enjoyed the freedom of wandering around the property discovering things on our own - like the indoor pool and spa or the outdoor bar complete with couches and a hookah - rather than having an escorted tour. And the added convenience in staying here is you can walk to the town and enjoy a wonderful dinner (and lunch – we did both) at Ala Turks Restaurant. So if you are looking for a 4 Seasons like service oriented hotel this is not it; but for us this hotel hit the mark in cleanliness, location and uniqueness. Then again we visit this type of area for its cultural offerings and are not seeking high end service.

Room Tip: Be sure to request a room with multiple windows. Also, depending on you needs, inquire about the lo...

My friend and I stayed at the magical AH property for a couple of nights based on the recommendation of my parents who had stayed there a few years ago. The setting is spectacular and the staff were helpful. There were only two other guests in the hotel. We visited a local winery to taste wines and brought a bottle back to the hotel to enjoy during sunset on the terrace. We asked the hotel staff to provide us a corkscrew and two glasses and were rudely told we must drink the wine in our cave room and not on the terrace outside so we could enjoy the final sunset view from the terrace just outside our room! In the past few years other cave hotels have been built in the area. I would recommend another one that appreciates its guests and promotes their attempts to enjoy their holiday!
