We stayed in Shoestring Cave in decemeber . Was excelent choice . We could check in at arrivel as they had a free room wich was a great help as we arrived early in the morniong after 12 hours bus ride .
Hotel is carve out from the stone :) I felt like im out of the flinsons movie set :) Holet is in different levels up and down the stairs go under cave walls quite fun :)
Breakfast is up on the top and you have a good view of the town .

We fined out later that the room we stayed in was used as a hors stable :) and that the owner of the place Oktay ( who is alwas there is you need anything with a big smile on his face :) was born in room 109 if I remember correct .)

Deffenely recomend this place

Room Tip: No matter wich room you stay they all got caracters :)

Staying at Shoestring Cave was the best part of my trip through Beautiful Turkey. The view from the roof top terrasse is breathtaking and my cave room no 201 was very cozy and kept warm during the winter nights. But most of all, the easy going and friendly staff gives a new meaning to hospitality. To Oktay, special thanks for making me discover the taste of Kappadokian wines and for the slow backgammon sessions.  Göröşürüs.

I stayed one night at the shoestring, and it was plenty enough. The dorm beds almost all have broken/bent bars, ensuring a saggy mattress. Only a few shelves if you're lucky to get them in the dorm room, no towels given. The common room revolves around a giant screen TV and a bar; very un-atmospheric compared to places with a fire stove/lounging area. Staff was okay. Avoid, there are much better dorms/hostels in Goreme...

Room Tip: Nomad's and Cave dorm are much better options

We, a family if four, visited Goreme in November and stayed in one of the cave rooms for seven nights. Part Hobbit part Flintstones, the room was always warm and the water always hot. The included breakfast was prodigious. Suleyman presides over a happy and friendly staff and was always ready to help with any questions we had about staying there or trips in the region. It was a wrench to leave.

Even though there are plenty of cave hotels to choose from in Goreme and we visited a few of them before settling on Shoestring. The atmosphere, the friendly and helpful manager and staff at Shoestring made all the difference to our choice. We stayed 6 nights and felt like part of the family when we left.

Live in the heart of Cappadocia, in the midst of one of the most wondrous, ethereal, marvels of nature. In a picturesque, living village surrounded by the expanses of natural rock formations, with history written on each layer of stone, from Biblical times to the Persian, Greek, Roman, and Byzantine empires. Feel this sense of awe as you stay in Oktay Ciftci's ancestral home at Goreme, which is converted into a smart, homey little hotel, which includes dormitory facilities for young backpackers.
The large stone house has a lovely central courtyard with bougainvillea, pretty flowering creepers, and lots of potted plants which give relief to the white stone village. Climb up and around it to the rooms at various levels. We stayed in a cozy and delightful double room on the terrace. It was lovely to return to the room after the long treks and it was an absolute treat to just sit on the terrace and look out.
The food is very good, the staff friendly, prompt, helpful, yet unobtrusive. If you do not wish to avail of the group excursions, the house is a 15 minute walk from the national park area, as well as very accessible to all the walking trails. We highly recommend this place to get a feel the local hospitality and culture. The stay here was definitely the highlight of our almost two-week vacation in Turkey.

Room Tip: All the rooms, including the dorms looked good as we requested to have a look. Terrace rooms are de...

Just finished a 4 night stay here in a double room with ensuite. Room was nice, clean and warm. Staff have been most welcoming and extremely helpful.

Well situated and only 2 mins walk to topdeck cave restaurant, which is essential dining while in Goreme.
