“Comfortable and Authentic”
Reviewed 31 October 2011

Such a comfortable, and authentic place to spend your vacation. They are generous, friendly, and helpful. Their hospitality is great. I spend one of the two amazing days that allowed me to experience the nature and great culture of cappadocia with my friends. The bothering thing was that there was no room service connected to the cave rooms and they were away from the hotel reception. Otherwise, the caves were comfortable and exceptional!!

I have stayed at this hotel twice. When it was being built a few years ago and this most recent stay for a week. Goreme has changed over the years and become more upmarket, catering to tourists who I can't quite believe are in and out with a short 2 day visit to this amazing place. The staff at Sultan Cave Suites however never gives you a hint of here today gone tomorrow treatment. You are treated like you have been there before with warm hospitality that makes you want to pass this gem of a place on to everyone you know.

Staff is very helpful. There you can feel the mood of the region (cave style), but also be very very confortable.

The restaurant in the hotel is the best in town.

They've arranged our ballon flight and a couple of other things.

Other than being very difficult to find in the dark (I do not recommend the google maps instructions), this hotel was fabulous. The staff went over and above what you would expect from a hotel, they recommended great places for sunset viewings and walks (follow their advice instead of going to the open air museum) to see the area. The rooms were clean, homely and had everything you needed. The breakfasts were excellent. Its all beautifully decorated as well and in a great location for Goreme and seeing Cappadocia generally.

My husband and I stayed at the Sultan Cave Suites for 3 nights. Before arriving in Goreme, Hanife helped us to organize our airport transfer from Kayseri airport. We arrived at the hotel before check-in but our room was ready and we were able to go in right away. The room was absolutely lovely - the cave setting was unique, the decor simple and tasteful and the bed was very comfortable. The owner was very helpful and gave us many options for activities in the area. We really enjoyed everything he recommended including horse back riding, hiking trails, and a guided tour. He was even nice enough to drive us to a valley so that we could hike our way back. The hotel had a great location. It was an easy walk to town and the view from the terrace was gorgeous. The breakfast was delicious and the dining room was beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. What a treat!

Room Tip: We booked a Junior Suite and it was roomy and very comfortable.

My adult daughter and I stayed in the Sultan Cave Suites for one night only but it was a memorable night. We were greeted with a complimentary drink on arrival and given advice such as to where to watch the sun set etc. After we arrived back from the whirling dervishes, they greeted us to ensure we had enjoyed the experience. Our cave room was an experience in itself and we had a beautiful view from the balcony outside our room from which we watched the magnificent array of hot air balloons early the next morning. Breakfast was also enjoyable and our table had a great view over the valley. They stored our luggage for us on our day of departure as we had a full day tour that day. Then they drove us to the bus station in the evening to take the bus to Pamukkale.
We had a great stay at Cappadocia but the enjoyment was definitely enhanced by the wonderful staff of Sultan Cave Suites.

Just returned from an amazing trip to Turkey and one of the highlights was Cappadocia and our 4 nights stay at Sultan Cave Suites. We arrived well before check-in and our cave room / junior suite was ready. To those who said the rooms are dark or clammy - it is a cave! but a luxury one at that - large stone shower with great water pressure, aromatic soaps, comfortable large bed, rustic, ample space - it was just as we expected from a cave hotel.

Mehmet & Mustafa seemed to be available for questions and recommendations almost 24/7. They didn't push any excursions on us at all. We even ran into Mustafa at Fat Boys bar one night and he gave us a ton of insight into the Cappadocia area (where he grew up). We had already booked Butterfly in advance based on their reputation and were extremely pleased with that experience as well (will leve a separate review).

The free buffet breakfast was satisfying - a ton of dried fruits & yogurt was my staple, and breads/pastries were abundant. We ate at the restaurant twice (Seten) and loved it both times. I made friends with the brick oven chef who cooks kabobs fresh to order. The kabobs were ginormous. You must get the mezze sampler platter - 9 different appetizers/dips. one day we ate that just for lunch.

LOCATION of Sultan is perfect - just far enough from everything but easy to get to and walk to town, which we did every day. It's high on a hill so an amazing view especially when the hot air balloons are floating early in the morning. Goreme itself served as a wonderful home base for our Cappadocia, especially after exploring Urgup and Uchisar. We had a rental car since we were there for 4 days and drove all over the region without any organized tours.

Overall, we would absolutely stay at Sultan Cave Suites again and highly recommend it!!
