“Beautiful”
Reviewed 24 September 2012

I almost passed on this optional tour and I am so glad I didn't. The ceremony takes place in an ancient renovated caravanserai. The mystical ceremony of the whirling dervishes is an essential part of a visit to Turkey- in my opinion. The setting was stellar and we left with a sense of wonder.

“Come prepared to quietly sit and watch the whirling dervishes.”
Reviewed 21 May 2012

This is the second time I have seen the whirling dervish ceremony. It helps to know what to expect because it's all done in silence to the sounds of music that is not familiar to western ears. This is a better venue than the place I saw it before because there are tiered stands so you can see easily without having to peak between peoples' heads. It helps to read a little about the Sema before the ligths go down and they give you a little brochure which explains the ceremony very well. This is not appropriate for young children.

“A must-see.”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

Some of our friends loved it, others were disappointed. In any case, it is worth experiencing the ceremony of this sect. I was only disappointed to find that while we paid 40 euros, others only paid 25. Oh well. It is really worth watching the dervishes in a caravanserai, IN Cappadocia, instead of some theatre elsewhere!
