I arrived as the sun was setting over the "fairy chimnies" turning them red and gold.
It was early April and the snow had only just melted. It was quiet and I had nowhere to stay.
I was in Germe, and I asked about a room for the night and was offered one at a good price in one of the special rock formations hollowed out of the rock itself. It was wonderful, the only one like that in Germe. There was a spa bath and a fire in the room.
The next day was a visit to the underground city where the locals lived like rabbits during the many wars. Well worth seeing! They even had ventilation!
The next day to Avenos to see the pots being made and a wonderful night in a local club with live traditional music....everyone up dancing..and all so friendly!
It is a place I would visit again and again....
