We were nearing the end of the trip, but still wanted to walk the Ihlara valley and see the Silema Cathedral. Since reading about this area we found it appealing, but most tour guides and companies down played as being too far away and not worth the long drive. Most of the organized tours that include the Ihlara valley in their itinerary (i.e. the Green Tour), only walk about 3 kilometers of this beautiful 14km valley, which we did not find satisfactory. IPEKCI recommended setting up a private tour the next day to take us there and to meet us at different access points along the way so that we could walk whatever portion of it that time allowed. They did this at a very reasonable price and was the perfect solution. We had a great day (though long and tiring; left Goreme at 9am and returned after 7pm) and saw several other things either on the way or on the way back, creating a very satisfying outing (the volcanic crater lake "Goluve" and the Linseed oil press at Bezirhane). Our driver, Habib, was very friendly and helped make this day stand out as one of our most memorable ones.
