“Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2014 via mobile

I am from Turkey and travel a lot. I can say one of the top 5 restaurants i have ever been in Turkey.
We went there two families and with two little kids. We asked if they have Turkish traditional dining table.(sitting on cushions and eating on a low table) they offered a cave. Kids were playing and shouting and we were so relaxed as there was no one to disturb.
They brought olives, pickles, eggplant salad as starter, homemade wine. Pickles and eggplant salad was perfect that we asked for more.
I asked for "kuzu incik" lamb shanks cooked in oven (tandir). Excellent taste.
Price was about 60 lira per person which is descent for such taste.
You can not have that taste in istanbul for even double price.

“We came back several times”

Good food. Try the little Turkish lamb raviolis. One of my best meals in Turkey. Nice local wines. This is just a short walk from the hotel where we stayed, The Hezen Cave Hotel.

“Excellent Authentic Turkish Cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2013

We were staying at the plush Hezen Cave Hotel and were recommended this small restaurant just a short walk away as an emergency or lazy solution. We stayed in Cappadocia for 5 days and 4 nights and found ourselves going back again and again after disappointing, overpriced experiences in other places.

Tandir is a small, friendly, unpretentious, family-run place with authentic regional cuisine at affordable prices and a charming view of the castle at Ortahisar. We particularly enjoyed the starters and serving wine was a big plus. A big plus was feeling you were not in a tourist trap and in a local restaurant were real Turkish people ate. Highly recommended as far as I am concerned.

“What a pleasant surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 October 2013

After a day of touring, we were exhausted and decided that we wanted to stay by the hotel ..... and wanted to eat close to our hotel. We walked over to the Tandir restaurant following signs ..... and found this wonderful, delightful, perfect place.

The gardens, terraces and grounds are beautiful. Our table overlooked the city's "cave castle" and we watched the sunset and the moon rise. It was indeed magical.

The meal was awesome as well. There was a homemade, just out of the kitchen, quality to the meal that we loved. The lamb shank was tender, falling off the bone ..... and the eggplant dish was smokey, warm and delicious.

And their friendly kitty joined us at the table ...... guilty as charged as we shared our meal with him. We loved it.

I would return to this restaurant without doubt.
