It is reductive to call this place as a "shop". A La Turca is first of all a home for the guests passing thru the street and going to the Castle. There you will find kindness, friendship and, last but not least, many sounvenirs and objects typical from Turkey.

Easly, people stopping there, might be offered to drink a cup of tea, coffee, etc. The owner and his collaborators are simply fanstastic: sense of hospitality and kindness are the rule in A La Turca.

The Guest may also become a Customer of the shop, but he will discover this further role by himself by having a look to the shop. The objects, manufacts, souvenir (hi-level mainly but also more consumer) are of high quality, well presented and with an incredible variety of styles and materials.

A La Turca, a wonderful place where to stop and breath nice hospitality, Turkish culture and, of course, fanstastic and worth Turkish manufacts and sounvenirs to be bought at responsable prices.

It's a regret that I knew this shop quite late in my trip when I had done the shopping a lot elsewhere. They have almost everything I would want to buy in Turkey. And although I didn't spend much money there, they were still very happy to tell many stories about this amazing country. They were even so kind to guide me around Uchisar. I can feel the honest and true friendship here.

This shop belongs to Taner and he is the third generation owner. It is very near Uchisar castle.

I passed here by accident. It was our last days in Turkey and after visiting Goreme and Avanos with many tourists, I wanted to find a quite place. So I chose Uchisar to stay for 2 days. When the taxi passed by this very small village center, I saw some beautiful suzani ( the embroidered cloth or table runner...) hanging outside of a shop. I was looking for those stuffs in Goreme and in Selçuk and already bought some, but still want to have more, as there was not much of choices in the place I visited.

At night, I came back to the shop and immediately I knew that I came to right place. This shop is like a museum with huge collections of suzani, carpet, silver and gold jewelry, ceramic stuffs. The way they arranged items inside the shop is really stunning.

A man named Ferhat, friend of the owner, helped me to unfolded the suzani in the shop and it became a endless show for me :) Even that I said I only want to buy 1 or 2 items, he said he just want to put all those things for my eyes' pleasure.

Later on, we continued to discuss about other stuffs in the shop, from the gems, jewelry to culture, customs, foods, lifestyle and the conversation goes on and on. Before going to Uchisar, I have met many sellers during my Turkish trip, and I agreed that most of them are very skillful with their jobs. They may tell very interesting stories about stuffs they sell. However this time I have a very different feelings with Taner and Ferhat. Both of them are well educated men, they are not only want to sell things, they hunger for knowledge and have curiosity about other cultures outside Turkey. I was too impressed with their warm attitude and the way they think about life. We stayed there for at least 2-3 hours until Taner said that the closure time was coming.

The day after, when I and my friend tried to find way to catch bus from Uchisar to Urgup, we met Taner again. He immediately offered to take and pick us up at bus station. And that evening, before leaving Cappadocia, we returned to say thank you to Taner and Ferhat. They gave us a surprise: they asked us to join with them in a visit aroung Cappadocia region by their car. I had chance to enjoy the splendid view of Uchisar Castle by night. All the region looked like jewelry, sparking at night.

For me, Taner, Ferhat and the two nights at A la Turca Collection is really like a chapter of a novel. Read only once but keep in my memory the best impression for many many many years.
