Elkep Evi Cave Hotel

An excellent, never before experience of actually staying in a cave hotel. Very well done luxorious rooms with an eye to detail, numerous quaint accessories all around the hotel. A few minutes walk to the main town. The pre ordered dinner at 20 Euro per head was expensive and not upto the mark, definitely not value for money. Everything else, breakfast included was good.

Cappadocia is famous for its cave hotels and this is a particularly beautiful one.
We had one of the jacuzzi rooms - a stunning cave room now lavishly decoarated. Upon arrival we found in the room a bottle of wine and some freshly-cut fruit, whcih was a lovely touch.
I do think it is not as good value for money compared to other hotels we stayed in in Turkey.... But only slightly.
Also, if you plan to go on one of the hot air baloons while in Cappadocia, I recommend not booking through the hotel (this or any other), you get much better rates by going straight to the travel agents in town - there are so many (and so also so many companies that offer this service)
Having said that, the hotel is stunning. The gentleman who i think is the owner (and whom we only met at check-out) is very gracious and welcoming and even offered us a free lift to our next hotel in Goreme. Breakfast is served on a terrace with beautiful views of Urgup.
The hotel is a bit of a walk (maybe 15 mins, return is uphill) from the centre of town, but if you like walking (like us) that is not a problem and it is very near Turasan (the second wine producer of Cappadocia) where you can go wine tasting. Recommended.

We stayed a couple nights at the Elkep Evi while touring Cappadoccia. Our cave was a very comfortable suite with a large bathroom and jacuzzi tub. The best part was a patio with overhanging grape vines that overlooked the valley. Great place to enjoy a glass of wine.
There is a patio restaurant for breakfast and dinner also with a view of the valley. In the morning we watched the hot air balloons float by. It is important to have a reservations for dinner. We would recommend making it at the time of booking otherwise there did not appear to be any other alternatives for dinner nearby.
The proprietor is very friendly and during a cooler evening meal provided pashmina to keep us warm while we ate.

We stayed for 2 nights and wished it were 6! The room (like the rest of the hotel) was fantastic: spacious, beautifully decorated right down to antiques and embroidered bed linen, everything was in perfect working order, lovely terrace with terrific view, totally quiet and best of all - a CD player with a stack of CDs - what more could one ask for? The standard of restoration/renovation of the building was sensitive and of a high standard, and sets an example for Cappadocia. An outstanding and extensive breakfast was served on the terrace with 270 deg view, inviting one to linger. We also had a good and reasonable dinner, with set meu of traditional Turkish food. The service all over was very professional but at the same time personal and friendly.

The only point to keep in mind is that it is quite far from the town centre and uphill, if one wanted to walk, but for that one has a location that is quiet and has a stunning view

Stayed at this cave hotel for 2 nights while touring around Cappadocia. It is quaint and comfortable. Had a restful stay, especially after touring in the daytime and actively climbing and navigating caves and underground tunnels! Breakfast is average.

It was superb, Decor was Turkish but not kitch, each room had a patio to watch the sun set or rise. The outdoor restaurant served a breakfast that included beautiful home made preserves and lavash prepared and cooked in a tandoori style oven. The host who shared his impeccable taste was attentive but not obsequious and I would go back tomorrow if I could

We had a very nice room with a great view out over the valley from our front patio. Both the bedroom and bathroom were spacious and clean. The included breakfast had fabulous bread and the best honeydew melon I've ever had (so that's why they call it honeydew - always thought it was misnamed - since in the USA it is usually tasteless). My only complaint was the front desk personnel were not particularly friendly - it wouldn't hurt to smile once in awhile.
