“Fabulous stay”
Reviewed 11 November 2011

Our group spent several nights in the Yunak Evleri Cave Hotel in early November 2011. The cave rooms are fabulous. Everyone was very happy with their room even though they vary in size. Most have private or semi-private terraces, many have lots of stairs. There are fires laid in outside fire "pits" ready for guests to light them. Rooms are well heated and bathrooms well appointed. Breakfast was buffet style and had some of the best cheeses we had in Turkey, lots of jams, breads (including whole grain which was rare) as well as hot dishes. Staff was friendly and helpful, carrying luggage up the many steps and back down at the end of the stay. Wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Room Tip: If you have problems with steps, let them know as they also have rooms without any steps.

We had a nice stay in this hotel, chosen by our travel agency. The small town, with numerous restaurants, is within walking distance. The hotel offers great views from its numerous balconies and terraces. Breakfast was a typical large Turkish buffet including hard boiled and scrambled eggs. The hotel also serves an evening meal with one set menu per night.

Our party had three different rooms, all with small seating areas outside with views; the views are better the higher up you go in the hotel. Two of them had a step or two to get from the sleeping area to the bathroom area. All of the rooms were "cave-like" with rounded corners, etc. Given we were in Cappadocia, it seems appropriate to stay in a cave room. However, we saw another room next to one of ours with NO WINDOWS! I find this shocking, actually, so if you plan to book into this hotel, make sure you specify that you want a room with windows and a terrace seating area.

As has been mentioned before, one needs the mobility to be able to climb at this hotel, although some of the rooms are lower with fewer steps.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure your room has windows.

This was a wonderful hotel with large rooms in a very unique and special setting. Very clean & tasteful decor. Attentive staff. Didn't eat at the restaurant, but there were 2 wonderful establishments within a short walk (2 minutes). Hotel is located up the hill, just on the outskirts of Urgup.

Room Tip: Only stayed in one of the rooms, but it was a 2 room suite and quite large.

This hotel in Cappadocia was the last stop on our tour before we flew back Istanbul for an additional few days on our own. What a beautiful place, and it's only a block from the tasting room of the Turasan winery. The rooms are excellent. Some are actually cut into rocks. Ours wasn't, but it had a large patio with a great view. Our nine member tour group met there one evening to imbibe some of the Turasan wine!

Room Tip: travel with Argeus

Staying in a cave room is the best experience while visiting Cappadocia. The staff is SO friendly. You have everything you need, including wi-fi and access to a computer in the "rec room". The fact that you are welcomed in a living room, and offered a snack while you check in is a great gesture. They make you feel right at home. The room was comfortable and great.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better views and probably more light.

In this region you are going to be visiting homes, monasteries and churches in caves so staying in a cave hotel is a natural but extraordinary experience. Each room is different. Our was large and nicely appointed with our own terrace in front for viewing the countryside. The breakfast was exceptionally good with lots of variety from which to select and dinner in the dining room was competent. There are several cave hotels in the region. You cannot miss with this one unless you need accessibility for wheelchairs in which case you should inquire in advance.

From the moment we arrived the manager Abdullah sat us down and went over all the details about the property, breakfast, guest kitchen,etc...

Everything about this beautiful property lived up to the hype. We were 2 couples that stayed 4 nights and we were upgraded to cave suites! They were really fantastic. Great space, great views. All the staff was very nice. Can't wait to come back again.

From the hotel its an easy walk to the center of town which is charming, Tip #1:Eat at a little place called Sofra. Great place! Tip #2: Stay out of the "antique" shop on the main road. He's a very charming liar. The stuff in his shop is made to look old but it's fake. Don't believe a word he says.

Room Tip: Go high! It's worth the climb.

The elegant decor is prominent wherever you lay your eyes on.Emperador marble floors, handcrafted lace curtains, antique chests and bedside tables, traditional bed covers, old brass bedsteads, old handcrafted writing desks , old kilim carpets and antique lighting have been chosen with care and with simplicity in mind. At the foot of the cliff stands the hotel's main lobby. Housed in a 19th century Greek mansion, the main building exudes a kind of sophisticated charm. Within the stone building, cozy meeting rooms provide a soothing atmosphere for lounging in the evening. Alongside a room with computer and wireless Internet connection, the music room has a wide variety of CDs you can borrow and the TV room is decked out in plush Turkish cushions with a view of the surrounding cliffs. There is a DVD room on the second floor decorated with local handmade pottery accessories, candles, and a lovely furnace. Evenings are characterized by sunset gatherings on soft upholstered Turkish pillows warmed by an outdoor fireplace. Candlelight dining is offered on the adjacent rooftop terrace. We serve local homemade foods for dinner and an open-buffet breakfast.
