“Breathtaking view, excellent service + best sleep”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2012

The hotel was lovely, a luxury retreat. Our room (105) was a long rectangle carved into the rock cliff, with a low ceiling. It had one window and a cozy and effective radiator (important since it snowed during our stay!). We enjoyed breakfast in one of the stone buildings, and had a wine-and-cheese hour in one of the music rooms in the former Greek mansion that is available for guest use. (If you like wine, try some of the grapes grown in Cappadocia: “kalicik karesi”, “bogazkere” and “öküzgözü" - Turasan locally has some nice wines.)

We also found Urgup to be a charming and walkable town - I preferred it to Goreme. Several good restaurants are an easy walk from Yunak Evleri, if you don't mind going up and down a hill: Ziggy's, Somine, and Ehlikeyf (I posted reviews). (Dinner is also offered at the hotel.)

The moment I loved best: emerging after a nap onto the stone terrace/balcony of our room. The sun had just set and the apricot and white stone of the cliffs glowed slightly in the early evening. Just then, the muezzin struck up the call of evening prayer, which floated up the hill and ricocheted off the wall behind us. We paused and soaked in the moment. The small town of 10,000 was quiet. There was no sound but the plaintive call to prayer.

What they say is true: cave sleep is different than "normal" sleep. It is utterly quiet, and you end up sleeping about two hours extra unless you set an alarm!

Room Tip: Best views are up high; we were very happy with room 105.

I and my husband stayed İn Yunak for 2 nights in April and we were welcomed by Front Desk ', Mr Huseyin the moment our transportation arrived. I've sent him an email to check about transportation facilities and he replied our concerns very quickly and kindly. He has managed to arrange our transportation from another hotel, Urgup Evi for our return as we had to book our 3rd night there due to Yunak Evleri was fully booked. We can understand the reason it was fully booked even 1,5 months before our trip just after we just walked in the hotel. The staff were very helpful and warm, greeting you whenever you saw them and approached you very kindly if you were about to look for something. The rooms are big, very clean, bath contents good quality toilettaries. Hotel has a TV room with 2 laptops with free internet facility, a library where you can listen to music and borrow CD's to listen to in the CD player in your own room.Breakfast is Turkish style with cheese, olive species, butter, jams, tomatoes, cucumber, etc. You can also find cereals, nice cake and cookies that you should definetely try ( we actually met their delicious cookies upon our arrival at 10 o'clock with Turkish tea ),You can also have seasonal fruits, a wide choice of hot drinks and orange juice. The view is amazing from the hotel and you can rest and enjoy sun in your lounge chairs after or before your daily trips. You can find the best restaurants of Urgup just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel gives set dinner for 25 USD per person but still gives you information and help for booking for the good restaurants around hotel. Urgup centre is only 5 minutes walk from the hotel where you can find agencies to book your daily trips, many local restaurants and shops and small markets. I'd definetely recommend this hotel who looks for 1st quality of service.

This was my third trip to Turkey, my second to Cappadocia and the first for my Parents on both accounts.
I knew I wanted my parents to experience a cave hotel and WOW, did we ever! Yunak is a beauttiful example of transformed heritage with attention paid to all the right details. Rooms were spacious, the 3 of us stayed comfortably in one, and very clean with plenty of blankets - needed for March!
The breakfast was the classic Turkish style, and done very well. I wouldnt recommend eating dinner there, as it was quite expensive and it was always empty - though we were there in March.

There was a computer room with internet and a television.

I would stay there again!

(Please note we stayed there in March 2011,but that was not an option to select on this site)

Room Tip: There are a lot of stairs, so request a lower room if you have a stroller ro bad knees!

My husband, two sons, mother and I were traveling in Turkey in April, 2012. We stayed at Yunak Evleri for 3 nights and had an absolutely wonderful time. The rooms were beautiful, meals were lovely, the setting spectacular, and the staff consistently helpful and friendly. For example, when we arrived late at night, there was initial confusion over the number of rooms we needed for our group; the night hotel staff graciously solved the problem and found us appropriate accommodation. On our last day, we needed to leave the hotel before breakfast was normally served in order to make our flight; the staff offered to have breakfast ready for us 15 minutes before the normal opening time. We have only positive things to say and would come back to stay here without hesitation.

A real cave hotel -- carved out of the mountains! the rooms are cozy and warm despite the cold weather outside. Bathroom amenities were topnotch. Service was great -- attendants were very nice and accommodating. would definitely go back if given the chance.

Room Tip: upper rooms are quite a climb so if you have difficulty climbing steep stairs you might want to requ...

Hotel was way beyond our expectations. Its location is unique as well as its design and decoration.
Rooms are very comfortable while stil keeping the experience of having a cave as a room.
What was surely the most appreciated feature is how we were treated by everyone working at the hotel. Always with a smile and trying to help us in any way, especially Abdullah Inal, its manager.

Not your average hotel in anysense... Yunak Evleri is greater than what we ever expected. The people there are wonderful!
The rooms are none alike, very cozy and incredibly beautiful.
Breakfast was everyday a delight!
The people working here are very welcoming. Especially Abdullah Inal who was at every moment both courteous and funny
Yunak has the most wonderful cave hotel experience ever!

Room Tip: ask for the room with the jacuzzi you wont regret it!

At the foot of the cliff stands the hotel's main lobby. Housed in a 19th century Greek mansion, the main building exudes a kind of sophisticated charm. Within the stone building, cozy meeting rooms provide a soothing atmosphere for lounging in the evening. Alongside a room with computer and wireless Internet connection, the music room has a wide variety of CDs you can borrow and the TV room is decked out in plush Turkish cushions with a view of the surrounding cliffs. There is a DVD room on the second floor decorated with local handmade pottery accessories, candles, and a lovely furnace. Evenings are characterized by sunset gatherings on soft upholstered Turkish pillows warmed by an outdoor fireplace. Candlelight dining is offered on the adjacent rooftop terrace. We serve local homemade foods for dinner and an open-buffet breakfast.
