We stayed at Assiana House in Sep. 2013. What to say, it was an incredible experience. The owners are wonderful, and very helpful in preparing tours and available for any requests. The area is magnificent, the rooms magical. The breakfast is fresh and so appetizing. So calm and relaxing. It is a must.
Thank you for an amazing stay

I stayed at this place for one night last week. I stayed in the Hotel room no. 1 and this is the best room to stay. You will be lucky if you get this room as this room has a jacuzzi bath tub. This room has nice majlis (sitting arrangement). Breakfast is good. There is always someone around to help you with your necessities. The hotel is located little inside from the main road, but the weather was good for a walk.

This was a great experience. The owner has lovingly created cave dwellings with all the mod cons. The rooms are beautifully decorated and romantically lit. My room (#1) had a very nice sized bedroom area and attached lounging area filled with carpets and pillows for tea or just hanging out. There is a large rooftop terrace great for taking in the views, but BYOB. The breakfast is sparse but has everything you need to start the day. The staff is extremely friendly. Though the polite young man who handles reception, etc. has limited English he was able to fulfill all I needed, calling taxis, being sure I was awake for tour pickups, etc. There is no restaurant, but there is a top notch restaurant 200 meters away. A taxi to town was only $4-5. Angel bar in town has very good music, from Miles Davis to Bob Dylan. Totally charmed.

We had booked flights from Istanbul to the Cappadocia area before we started looking for lodging and then felt stuck trying to find the perfect place. Fortunately a travel agency was recommended to us, who recommended the Assiana House. We arrived after 9:00PM and were greeted warmly and then shown to our room - I believe it was #7 - first one on the right upon entering and then down some stairs. Being my first cave hotel, I can't say if it was better than others in that aspect, but we were just so excited about it and loved it. Breakfast was very good - served out on the rooftop. The owners were lovely and accommodating with helping us figure out our schedule and letting us take some breakfast early the day we left for the airport. Wifi was good - when in our room it was a little spotty on one side, but perfect on the other side. We were in a cave after all so can't really complain about wifi. There was about a 10 minute walk into "town" which wasn't bad... the way back was all uphill, but it seems all of Turkey is steep hills so you get used to it. After doing a 2 day tour (with Crossroads - also wonderful!), and getting to see the other towns, I was still happy that we stayed in Urgup. Definitely recommend.

I echo other reviews of this charming tiny hotel. Only 7 bedrooms, all 'caves' - each one carved from the volcanic mountain (which ensures blissful cool nights without air con) and individually decorated in grand Turkish style with care and taste (original kilims on floor, outdoor table and comfortable chairs for each room).
Nothing is too much trouble for Mevlut and his lovely wife Suna who sat with us to sort out itineraries and offer advice as much as we wanted. Suna makes her own jams and borek (pastries - fresh every day) for breakfast which you eat on the verandah overlooking the spectacular Cappadocian prairies and volcanic canyons. Note that Assiana is a good 10 minute walk up the hill from Urgup centre. So not for those who like to be in the midst of it all. We liked this distance - good exercise and helps digest dinner (!), gets you away from the noise, bustle and cars out into the peace and stars, and most important: despite the heat in mid August when we visited the air was always fresh with cooling breeze.
The balloon company they recommended - Sultan Balloons - was excellent, very safety conscious, and competitively priced (not the cheapest but with professional experienced pilots) - this was the first high point of our trip. The second was the whirling dervish ceremony in a 12th century caravanserai which Mevlut organised tickets for - although for tourists it was serious not tacky. We found it hauntingly beautiful and moving.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely - each different but extra special to have one on the upper balcony so you step out into the 360 panorama.
