Hotel Surkent is situated within the old city and very suitable if you want to visit Diyarbakir. The rooms are simple (two beds -always twins-, a coat-hook, a bedside table, a TV) and not verry big, but very clean and have joyfull colours (i.e. pink walls, orange curtains and pink flowery bed sheets). The bathrooms are very clean too.
The Hotel has 4 floors, a narrow staircase an no lift but verry helpull staff which will help you carrying your luggage.
The room prices are 45TL for a double room and you can have breakfast for 5TL extra per person.
The staff at the hotel is very nice and helpfull. If you want a guided tour by english-speaking locals just ask for Omar and his friends (if they do not get in touch with you anyway) at the reception desk. They offer very nice guided tours for around 60TL (approx. 25€) per day and guide, which enable you to discover numerous cafés, churches, mosques and little streets you would never have found by yourself.
