“Not too much but not so bad”
Reviewed 5 July 2013

I was in this Hotel l5 months ago and found it not so bad, there is gym open till late and sauna and steambath as weel, not so big area but ok, what is really bad is the restaurant upstairs, I went there for 3 consecutive days and there was always footbal match on tv ( i do love foorball) and so waitres were too busy watching tv than take order from customer...and too much smooke on there , it is really a medium level hotel. Not definitelly more than 3 stars.
Breakfast is umbelieveble poor
Room ok but staff is so rough...

Recently stayed in this hotel and did not enjoy the visit one bit and the majority of the problem is the staff. From rude check in staff and management to security guards that hang around the lobby staring at you for long periods of time this place just does not have a good vibe.

Tried to buy a drink and was told the upstairs bar was open. On going up I found 2 staff members sat next to the bar on a sofa chatting and laughing away. I asked for a drink and they pointed me to another room which was being setup for a wedding party, no bar in sight. I came back and they were gone, clearly couldn't be bothered making a drink so sent me to another room so they could walk off.

The hotel itself is stuck in the mid 80s and looks tired throughout which is fine but not if your claiming to be 5 star.

Wiring hung from the roof in some sections, the roof pool terrace is a dusty rooftop with workmen pottering about and staff members smoking.

If you ask for an iron or ironing board to your room they won't give you one but will happily do it for you and charge you.

I could go on and on and there really was a lot more wrong with this place and the staff but I can't be bothered giving it much more of my time. Don't stay here, use the ibis or Novotel you know what your getting that way.

Gaziantep is a relatively small city yet it is bustling with surprises for the traveler. The people are helpful and very respectful. The Grand Hotel is small enough to be able to give the visitor that personal feel whereby you feel that assistance is never very far away. The staff aren't in your face, they keep a respectful distance, but are there as and when you need assistance. The breakfast area isn't pretentiously sumptuous, it is basic and efficiently run with a wide variety of choices. Within easy walking distance of the hotel is a tremendous amount of restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: If you are a non smoker you might want to ensure that you ask for a room that is non smoking.

I had a really great time in this hotel :) It is very well located, very close to the city center, very clean, helpful staff, English speaking, good hotel services.
I stayed in the Junior suit facing the street which it was great: big, comfortable, with excellent amenities, quiet, with great view of the city at night.

The hotel restaurant is just amazing. Is at the 10th floor and it offers you an incredible view of Gaziantep, with great Turkish atmosphere. The food was delicious, traditional Turkish food.

From the hotel you can easily reach the city center, the bazar.

The airport is about 30 minutes drive.

I totally recommend Grand Hotel Gaziantep for a memorable stay!

The rooms in the hotel have all recently been renovated. They are clean and modern with all the usual facilities (but no bathtub). They don't have many (or any) non-smoking rooms, but they offered to air out our room in advance, which worked fine. We were on 11th floor but could still hear all the noise on the street. We could also hear people walking around on the restaurant which is on the 12th floor. The location is 10 minutes drive from the old town. The service is "ok", they keep the basics going well (check in, cleaning etc.) but do not have the sense of good service beyond that. The breakfast is pretty disappointing. When we asked for toasted bread, they said their toaster was broken. Turkish coffee took a long wait to get. No "katmer" at breakfast, which is the typical and delicious Antep breakfast food. Overall the hotel is decent but do not expect to be overwhelmed. Not sure about the 5*'s they have, nor the price you have to pay (120 euros for a standard room, 160 for a suite).
