“Average rooms but good location”
Reviewed 2 May 2014 via mobile

WiFi was very weak. Even occasionally dropped out. Rooms were not very well lit, and the shower head was not stable when fixed into place. Staff were quite friendly and helpful. More needed to bring the rooms up to scratch.

Warm and friendly welcome by reception staff on arrival, very clean and modern room with tea and coffee making facilities provided, good variety of food for breakfast, excellant location for Alsancak and the Clock Tower and close to the ferry, would recommend and return.

Booked 2 rooms with 2 single beds originally. At arrival we asked to look at our rooms, they were too small, the hotel gave us other rooms which were bigger and one of the rooms had 3 beds instead of 2. Change was made with no extra charge. 206-205.

Pros:
Friendly staff.
Clean rooms.
Good breakfast with variety.
Walking distance to bus stop/ eating joints.

Cons:
Thin walls, even the TV cannot be at volume 50. I could hear my friend taking a business call in the corridor. As it was a trip with friends, we had annoyed neighbors (who were on business trips) asking for quiet.

Room Tip: Ask to look into other rooms if you are unhappy with your room

A good business hotel very close to Basmane and the clock tower. It's about 5 minutes walk to Basmane train station. IT's between two metro stations Cankaya and Basmane. It is not very far from the water front,. you can walk to the nearest water front in about 5 minutes and Alsancak can be walked to in about 20minutes.

The rooms are excellent, ...very clean and not too small. The heating worked, Wi-fi is very good, Lots of restaurants around.

The breakfast was quite reasonable. Really recommend it

Really dirty room with a so small bathroom ( toilet and shower in one). The bed was not comfortable at all. Izmir is a nice city but I really don't recommend this hotel. I don't know how it has two stars, it's on hostel level actually.

2 Stars on the outside and that is what is to be expected. Location, pretty good. Breakfast average, had to pay for "real" coffee (only offered Nescafe), also no yogurt - pretty strange as Ayran is one of their national drinks.

Now the room, 402...dark dark and dark - the window is in an airshaft (thank goodness I was on the 4th top floor). I could have easily changed, but as I was there only for sleeping, was not really worth it. Had I been in 301/302, 201/202 or 101/102 I would have immediately asked for a different room. The room is rather worn and needs a bit of TLC. The rooms facing the fresh air were rather nice actually (collegues were there). One other big complaint, I really hate when water escapes the shower stall and is all over the floor, not very hygenic nor nice.

The beds were fantastic, no clue what the mattress was, but I liked it.

The staff were friendly and helpful, made a dinner reservation and assured me that all would be okay as riots were nearby...and it was. For the life of me, I could not get the TV to work, the staff tried and were nice, but had something to do with blocking channels (CNN, BBC etc..).

Room Tip: See above, do not accept the room around the air shaft at the back of the hotel.

We stayed for 3 nights in a double room. From Izmir we rented a car to visit Efes (1.5 hour 1 way) and Pamukkale (4 hour 1 way). We parked the car in a big parking 150 meter from the hotel (12 hours = about 3.5 euro) because the street of the hotel is super small and has no place for the car. The beds were clean but we can not really say the same for the room, which was big but had some dirty areas on the carpet which really needed some attention. Our room had been renewed but some parts were not completely fixed, which was not nice too see and give us a strange feeling (see pics). Air conditioning was working well. Bathroom was OK, shower too, always with good pressure and hot water. The pipe from the shower was blocked, which was not so nice. Breakfast buffet was good and fine for us, but I would say it was quite moderate. People at the reception were nice and friendly, and tried to be helpful when we had minor problems (I could not find TV channels in other languages than Turkish - I was wrong, they have many EU satellites - I could not find an address, etc). WiFi was free, good in the Lobby but quite weak in the room. All together, price was extremely good (like 20 euro per person per night) and I would say that, to be a 2 star hotel, standards were higher than expected and we were satisfied with our staying there. An important drawback was that, apart from the guy who seemed to be the manager there, staff could not speak well other languages than Turkish (easy sentences like "Can I print my boarding passes?" were not understood). Feedback to the Hotel: push a little bit more on the cleaning of the room (floor!), check the bath tubings, fix the unfinished works in the room, improve the English of the staff. Than you can easily add a star and charge a little bit more per night.
