Visited July 17th, 2014 for dinner - 4 persons - We spotted that there was a nice spot on the 1st floor with the view (which is MUCH better than the view at the terrasse on the ground floor in fact!!!) - Contrary to what was reported by segallison, there is a menu with all prices, we just asked for it and we got it immediately - Smoked fish (isli balik), grilled artichokes (enginar izgara) and anchovies in brine (hamsi salamura) were great and are highly recommended - Buttered shrimps (ty karides) were good but average - For dessert, caramelized almond and honey cake (bal bademli karamelli) is absolutely fabulous - Service was great despite the fact that the waiter could not speak anything but turkish - Summary: this is a great restaurant on the sea front (kordon) of Izmir but prices are rather expensive by turkish standards (we were charged 4 kuver @ 14TL each which was the very first time ever in Turkey!!!) - If prices for main courses are down -30%, this restaurant will get 5 stars - Essential hint to avoid any misunderstanding: Please note that all our food reviews might not be suited for / does not fit with, people from other cuisine cultures especially Northern America, Asia, etc. All our food reviews are written by persons with strong continental European cuisine culture (raised in deep French food environment with "Cordons Bleus" parents and numerous "Meilleurs Ouvriers de France" friends). Italian cuisine comes very close to this. As family is coming from the Atlantic Ocean coast of France, we also know how to distinguish fresh fish and seafood.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel Renaissance, and they were right.. Good food. It got busy with lots of locals. The owner was very nice and not pushy to order but made good recommendations. Shrimps was amazing the fish... Mmmmmmm yum I can't get the flavor out if my mind. Simple cooked fish that was fresh.
Will go back when in Izmir

Thank susuAccra

Izmir is a beautiful seaside town. My husband and I wanted a great seafood restaurant. The concierge of the hotel suggested this and told us to check trip adviser. Reviews were mixed but, the selling point is they provide a driver to and from the restaurant. There is no pricing and no menu. They bring a tray with their mezza's to choose from. They are ok have had better. We order our dinner and my husband's shrimp is served as an appetizer. We call the waiter over, sorry sorry we will provide the rest of his dinner when yours is served. This never happens. The waiters never even asked if we wanted dessert. Needless to say reported to the hotel concierge and ended up with dessert and coffee at hotel. This is the breakdown of the check: 2 mezza's ( peppers stuffed with cheese and mussels) 6 shrimp, 1 salad (no cheese, tomatoes, etc.), grouper (served with baked cold potato in foil and some uncooked mustard greens, one glass of sparkling water, one coke = 140 TL or 66.78 dollars. Consider another restaurant. The grouper was fresh. Therefore 2 stars.

Had the most tasteless mezz we had during our entire trip to Turkey here. Not many locals eating here and a big tour group came when we were there. The Swissotel sent us there and I was pretty disappointed by the food. On the same street as this restaurant there are dozens of restaurants. If I were to do it again I would go down myself and look at where all the locals were eating and go there..... One thing I will say though, a waiter was great, he gave us really attentive professional service.
