Grand Corner Boutique Hotel
Ranked #64 of 100 Hotels in Izmir
Reviewed 3 September 2013 via mobile

After visiting some hotels around Izmir ve decided to stay at this hotel because of the service/price factor. It is very close to subway station and seaside restaurants and very clean. Breakfast was ok and other services were good enough for the price. The only problem was subway noise under hotel which can only be felt at first floor. But that can not be a reason to stop me from choosing this hotel again in my next trip to Izmir.
In one sentence: best hotel for the price in 4star class.

I absolutely LOVED the Grand Corner Hotel. It was the favorite of my study abroad group and as director I do not have a SINGLE complaint RE: The Grand Corner.

The lobby and rooms are gorgeous, spacious, and tastefully decorated. The A/C actually works and is fantastic which is wonderful for Turkey (I have had SO many bad hotel, esp A/C-related, experiences in TR)!

My fave part of the hotel was the hamam (Turkish Bath) - the staff was amazing. The two ladies were so professional, sweet, and attentive. It was the highlight of my entire trip! I got all of the trip participants (17!) and my fellow group leader to go, too. We all had a blast!

I actually liked the location a lot...within walking distance from the shore/water. You can walk from the hotel to the waterside cafes etc. in ten minutes or so. Awesome!

The street in front of the hotel can be noisy but I love that ambient city noise. Great view of the city and the ancient castle atop the hill/mountain. Wow.

Room Tip: -MUST go to the hamam!!!! The lady staff members are the BEST. -Lower floors will have more street...

Hotel was renovated some time ago, before it was a very bad hotel and the new owners turned it into a new charming hotel. It is located right across the train station, and there is a metro as well that you can take to go to the airport.
Walk distance to the sea side road where you may find many cafés.

The street in front of the hotel is very busy, so it can get noisy.

Food is good, staff is discrete but always willing to help.

This hotel is directly across the street from the Basmane Train station in Izmir. It's very new, very comfortable and has a fabulous breakfast that is included in the price. We found it to be an excellent choice when arriving at Basmane and leaving from there. There are two items that keep me from giving it 5 stars. The first is that the staff, which speaks English, still needs more customer service training. The evening we stayed there, a wedding party occupied the 7th floor restaurant. The noise level was predictably incredible. When we asked for an alternative for dinner, we kept getting told to eat in the same room as the wedding party -very uncomfortable. When we finally got through to the staff, they simply referred us to another street 10 minutes away, rather than a particular restaurant. We ate in a neighborhood joint, but felt uncomfortable there as well, because the neighborhood is not great - which is my second reason for not giving five stars.

Room Tip: There is noise from the street. Try for a room not facing a street.

+ Beautiful new hotel,central location,
- Street noise
Visited the restaurant for dinner at about 20.30 the first night of my stay.
At the restaurant that moment was about 6 or 7 occupuid tables with guests who ate and entertained with live musik.A waiter come and offer me water and talk to me in Turkish.I reply to him in English and left for the kitchenand chatted to someone who was probably in charge there.
Consequently I wated for 15',without anyone to care about my presence, and then I left openly angry.

Room Tip: Higher floors may have less noise

The reception area is beautiful, the rooms are beautiful with the hughest beds, with room faciities of air-con, lcd tv, tea/coffee making facilities, complimentary toiletries etc. Everywhere was clean and had a luxurious feel to it, all the staff from reception, bell-boy and waiters and house-keeping smiled. The breakfast buffet as mentioned in a previous review is on the 7th floor therefore the views are fabulous and it is amazing to watch the madness of the traffic below. Highly recommend this hotel for a touch of luxury whilst on a city break or business trip.

We found this charming, new hotel tucked away in a central location in Izmir. The rooms were lovely, and we could not find one member of staff who wasn't smiling - even when they were cleaning the toilet! Yes, it's pretty new but everyone did their best to make you feel welcome.

The breakfast buffet is situated upstairs in a terrace restaurant with a great view of the surroundings. Although it is situated close tot he train station - read: central! - you don't hear a peep of the traffic. Rooms were comfy, plush and amazing value for money.

Whilst it would be hard to single out any outstanding member of staff, Pelin and Ozan were top-performers in my opinion. The previous reviewer has already extolled their virtues (and the that of the others too) so I wouldn't want to sound like a broken record, but it was very pleasant to find such genuinely warm, welcoming people amidst the chaos of Izmir!

Two thumbs and two big toes up for this hotel - would come again many times!

Only complaint would be that the decor looked a little OTT - but I think that was the style they were going for, and can't fault that - love the paintings in the lobby though!

Room Tip: Have the impression all windows are double glazed but I guess having a room further up minimises the...
