“One of the best places to stay in Turkey”
Reviewed 4 April 2013

A lovely town and a beautiful place to stay. Though the hotel is a bit far from the old town, its located in a beautiful historic area and Erhan and Umran were so kind in providing transportation. The breakfast they served was truly fabulous; Erhan keeps a garden and green house and a few chickens. The eggs had been layed that morning. The rooms themselves are gorgeous- located in a 300 year old mansion that has been in Umran's family for 8 generations. The couple is passionate about providing a positive experience for their guests and go above and beyond to meet the needs of their guests. I've stayed in several hotels in Safranbolu; the over-all expereince of Rasitler Bag Evi made it by far the best.

I stayed 3 days, It was splendid.very clean, cozy and friendly welcoming staff. Breakfast was more than I expected. Located near old water mill, It was quiet and relaxing. It is little far from main city center but it was easy to reach by minibus. During summer days I assume old town is approachable in half an hour on foot.

Room Tip: try "basoda" (main guest room)

Our room featured a 300 year old Egyptian crafted Ottoman wooden ceiling and the walls had Ottoman inlays with antiques in them. The windows were shuttered and looked onto the snow covered garden. The king size bed was comfy as and the ensuite spacious. The house was spotless and Erhan and Umran made us feel so welcome. We were picked up from the bus terminal and driven into a local restaurant (1,5 km) each night where we tried different local fare for 25 TL for a couple each night. We were driven to the old town (3km) by Umran and picked up when we phoned. All gratis
Erhan,s breakfasts were largely from her own chickens eggs and veg. Her home made butter and jams (from her own fruit of course) were delicious and hearty.
As mentioned the garden house is 1.5 k from the new city and 3k from the old town. This could be a problem in winter (it was snowy and icy for us) but not a worry as we were driven everywhere. The snow made it more special for two Aussies. Both would be an easy walk in any other season. The house is next to the old water mil and a little mosque. We loved our stay and will be back to enjoy more of the ar,ea and Erhan and Umans convivial conversation and hospitality.

Mrs. Umran and Mr. Erhan are one of the best host-owner we've (with my girlfriend) ever met. They're super helpful, caring and chatting with them extremely a big enjoyment.
Their delicious breakfast, home-made cookings and super tasty teas are giving you a pleasure.
You'll find here a service beyond beyond than your expectations. You can ask them any question, chat about history or future, any seconds spending with them a joy.
Hotel is extremely clean, rooms are beautiful, sleepings are comfortable, there is no interesting or disgusting smelling around hotel, all was perfect.
If you had enough time to stay here, you should spend more time in garden, extremely clean and green.

Room Tip: If you are fan of a natural light that fills the rooms, you should choose the "Tower (Kubbe) Ro...

Our last two nights in Turkey were spent here and what a way to finish. A 300 year old Ottoman house, beautiful restored, a lovely garden, and 2 delightful, generous and welcoming hosts in Erhan and Umran who are the perfect example in Turkish hospitality,

There is so much to love about being here but I would particularly highlight the wonderful food. Stay for dinner - Umran is a SENSATIONAL cook.

The location is out of the old city but set amongst the Ottoman summer houses so easy walks around the streets are exceptionally pleasant and full of lovely views.

We would return to Turkey just to taste Umran's cooking again! I can't recommend this place enough.

We came to Safranbolu in the evening and made a last minute reservation. This hotel turned out to be our best stay in Turkey. The rooms were in ottomanstyle and the house is very charming. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The owners (Umran and Erhan) were very hospitable and helpful. It was a pleasure just to hang out with them! We felt truly taken care of during our stay. We highly recommend to stay here if you are planning to be in or close to safranbolu. It was for us a unique experience.
