Amazing experience with my stay here. I am extremely happy with staff members/owner. Many houses in Safranbolu are preserved and listed as world heritage sites. The hotel is old （200+ years) but tastefully designed and restored. You get to live in a historical mansion while not compromising on comfort and luxury. Rooms are spacious, bed is comfortable and the price is very reasonable for what you are getting. It is centrally located, literally a few steps from the heart of the old town. Not to mention the amazing breakfast provided. Price if higher than surrounding hotels but you get what you pay for, and quality is what I am after during this holiday trip.
What I am most happy about is their service. Knowing that there is a language barrier, the staff member/owner helped me a lot in booking my bus ticket to the next destination.
I went into the town centre and was severely ripped off by a retailer selling saffron flower (local product) of poor quality, the owner took photos of the name of the retailer and price (presumably going to warn his future guests?). He then physically guided me to an actual honest retailer with genuine product which costed much less than what I paid for originally.
This is my first review as I am one of those many that searches tripadvisor for traveling advices but do not write reviews. But I have felt the need and want to let other travelers know of the excellent experience of my stay here. I would seriously rate it 6 stars if I could for the service.
Thank you so much!
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Gülevi Safranbolu emerged as a project of living through revitalization rather than one of accommodation. The project was initiated to survive the richness and subtlety of life which flourished during the 18th century in Safranbolu which is currently inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Gül and İbrahim Canbulat acquired three neighboring Ottoman mansions in the early 2000s and started running these buildings following restoration. All three mansions date back to the 18th century. Damage and wear due to time and human intervention were recovered by the restoration process; the mansions were granted their genuine architectonics. Modern facilities required for the present-day functions of these mansions were installed without distorting the authentic integrity of the Ottoman mansion. Gülevi Safranbolu offers 18th-century elegant life style with no compromise on contemporary appliances. ... more less
