“Friendly and efficient B&B”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

Most guests only stay here one night, on their way to or from Cappadoce. Muammar and his family are therefore very efficient and speak good English. They also give good advice of places to eat and directions for leaving town. The place is a traditional home which has been converted to a B&B: nicely decorated, fresh smell and Kilim rugs everywhere, which means that you take off your shoes and put on slippers at the entrance.

Our stay was amazing, this place basically had it all. Such a wonderful character rooms, extremely clean and tidy with a nice fresh smell of wood. All the furniture is carefully selected to match the atmosphere of the Otel. Muammar and his family are very warm and generous people. They made us feel as if we were at our own country and between our own family. Highly appreciated advises regarding where to go and what to do in Konya. They arranged a taxi to pick us from airport and another one to take us to Goreme.

Two nights at the Dervish Otel in Konya was just right. We wanted to see the Whirling Dervish and visit the nearby archeological dig at Çatalhoyuk. Accomplished both with guidance from Muammer, owner of this interesting place. Our room was large and nicely decorated with a huge shower. It was on the main floor right off the lobby. This is not a problem because there are only six rooms in the hotel and the night time is quiet. It was walking distance from the Mevalana Cultural Center where the Dervish perform. The hotel arranged for an English speaking driver to take us to Çatalhoyuk and view the amazing neolithic site. These urbanized people lived here as a village 6500 years before the Christian era. Once again, breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Cost for two nights was €60 per night with an 8%discount for cash which took care of the VAT. I paid in local currency. Exchange was 2.83 TL to the Euro.

Room Tip: Our room right off the lobby was large and convenient.

it used to be a private house and it sure feels like coming home. although we stayed there only one night, moammer was more than helpful for our every needs, including buying train tickets for us to go to selcuk even before we arrived. we were also more than welcome to hang around the premises while waiting for our night train schedule, including enjoying the coffee and tea in the dining area.
everybody was very warm and welcoming, we were treated like a family instead of guests. service was excellent, room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom very modern with excellent fixtures. the hotel was small, only 7 rooms, but you can feel that they go the extra mile to make us comfortable.
location was also great. relatively quiet but only a very short walk away from the mevlana museum (actually all the sights were close enough for us to walk everywhere).
konya was a nice experience and dervis otel made it even more special!

Beautiful old house, high ceilings, large rooms, excellent breakfast. The staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night but would have been happy to stay longer. Konya was a great surprise and felt more "real Turkey" than tourist resort. The hotel is located in an interesting central area of the city. Highly recommended. Would certainly stay there again.

We stayed at the Dervish for three nights. Immediately upon arrival we were made to feel so welcome by Muammer that by the end of our stay it felt more like staying with friends. Both Muammer and Adem are keen to make one's stay as happy as possible and Muammer is mine of good and reliable local information, for example we had two excellent lunches in places that we would never have found or known about from a guide book.

The hotel itself is very attractive, spotlessly clean with spacious well-equipped rooms and comfortable beds. There is a nice garden to sit in and have tea or coffee. The buffet breakfast has plenty of choices and is excellent. For atmosphere and freindliness this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. If you are in Konya, this is the place to stay.

Our original intention was to spend a night in Konya and move on quickly to Egirdir, but we extended our stay after checking into the elegant Dervish Otel, talking to hosts Adem and Moammer and exploring the nearby district, which includes the Mevlana museum. The room was spacious, very clean and comfortable, with one of the largest bathrooms we came across in Turkey. The grounds are very pleasant and attractive as well. Because we booked at the last minute, we were unable to stay in the same room after the first night, but Adem and Moammar arranged for us to stay in a very nice room in their adjacent property. The excellent breakfast was in the Turkish tradition -- fresh, wholesome and delicious to the point where it was hard to stop eating.

Adem and Moammar were very helpful in planning our explorations of Konya and our attendance at the Dervish rites on Saturday night. They also helped us plan the trip to Egirdir. Konya is a very modern city with a bustling open-air market and some lovely parks where the tulips were blooming by the thousands.

As others have mentioned, we left the Dervish feeling that we had made some new friends in Adem, Moammar and Mehment. We wouldn't hesitate to return on our next trip to Konya and look forward to seeing them again.
