“Excellent hotel”
Reviewed 16 September 2012

Just returned from 12 nights at the Marina Vista (early September 2012) - where we had a great time. Obviously recently refurbished, the hotel's got a nice modern feel - the bedrooms are fitted-out in a smart contemporary style with large beds and a fascinating view across the next door boatyards, the bay and the mountains beyond. The restaurant's terrace is right next to the sea accessed past the good sized pool/bar and nice gardens. I think it's one of the few hotels in the area where you can sit on the water's edge, watching the fish, the comings and goings on its own jetty and taking in the great view. Waiters are all good fun yet professional. On the evenings we ate in, the food was good and exceptionally plentiful.
We can also thoroughly recommend the Oztoklu Restaurant - located in Fethiye's fish/vegetable market - absolutely brilliant food and fantastic value plus it isn't overpowered by the smell of fish like the other nearby restaurants as it's based in the vegetable market.

Stayed here in 2012 May - a lovely hotel with friendly staff - it is obviously aspiring to some of the more sophisticated hotels in the area, and is achieving some of the goals, but has a little way to go yet. Helpful staff, very amenable and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Very kind manager - gave us a lift into the town, quite unsolicited......the fact it is a small hotel is really good.

Food is average, but perfectly acceptable. Waiters and restaurant staff are wonderful. Rooms very comfortable with an enormous and very comfy bed........pool is lovely as are the gardens, and general surroundings. The spa area needs some attention...I guess this is being updated soon......

It is next to a boatyard which I though gave it a great 'uniqueness'', and you feel part of the town, not just a tourist. It is so close to town you can walk - perhaps 20-30 mins, but the dolmus come by so often it is not a problem....the views over the water are lovely and the waterfront setting for the restaurant is great!
My tip is do B/B and go into town for evening meal...........I can heartily reccomend Mehmets ( Krall)

Room Tip: Some rooms have a bath - ask if you prefer to bath! They are really big nd a great way to relax,

We stayed at this hotel (which is now called Marina Vista) in May 2012. This is our 10th visit to the area and we have stayed in various hotels and apartments, sometimes as a couple, sometimes with our teenage children. On this occasion it was just the two of us, and I can truly say that this is the nicest hotel we have stayed in in Fethiye. It may not be to everyone's taste, but it suited us perfectly as we enjoy using the public transport and eating out at the fantastic range of restaurants in Fethiye.

We arrived at 2.30am and were immediately checked in and shown to our room, which was on the ground floor (level 2). The room was spacious with very nice furnishings, a large comfy bed and adequate storage space. The bathroom was superb, bath with shower over plus a separate shower cubicle. Toiletries were provided, as well as slippers, but no bathrobes.

There was a kettle in the room - we brought our own teabags and powdered milk, as we do like a nice cuppa!

We had a balcony, but unfortunately no view as we were too low down, which was a shame as the higher rooms must have had superb views over the bay. Would have appreciated some furniture out on the balcony too.

The hotel restaurant is situated down on the water's edge, which is a pleasant walk away throught the beautiful gardens. Breakfast is served here, you can eat outside if the weather is good. Breakfast was typically Turkish, mostly consisting of olives and salad, however there was cereal available and the chef would cook fried eggs or an omelette if we asked.

The pool area is absolutely gorgeous, and was usually deserted during the day, including a lack of staff, which was a bit of a pain when we wanted a drink! We visited the hotel last August, however, and the pool bar was staffed then. I think we were probably just there at a quiet time.

Yes, there is a bit of noise from the shipyards, one either side of the hotel, but it didn't really bother us. The shipyards are due to relocate to the other end of Fethiye Bay within the next two years, so the area will change completely. We really enjoyed our walks to and from Fethiye through the shipyard, looking at the boats being built and repaired. No Health and Safety here! Alternatively, the dolmus stops right outside the hotel and the 2 lire fare (less than £1) was well worth it.

Wouldn't recommend this hotel if you are with kids (there's absolutely nothing for them to do), or if you are looking for a lively hotel with entertainment, or right in the centre of town. For a quiet time to chill out, though, it's perfect.

One last point, there was no lift and the hotel has five floors, but while we were there work was being carried out to install a lift, and I should imagine this has now been completed.

Room Tip: Go for a higher room if you want a view.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel in May 2012 in a deluxe room. The room was large with a huge bed and lovely bathroom, very comfortable and good view of the harbour and part of the boat yard. Breakfast down on the water's edge with views over the harbour was great. We did not use the restaurant as went into the old town for meals which were also really good and not expensive. The hotel pool is nice and large, the only down side is people walking by to get to the marina. The hotel is situated in the middle of the boat yard and there is some noise from there of banging and drilling but we did not find it intrusive, in fact we rather liked watching all the goings on. It was lovely and quiet at night. The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the old town but it is a nice walk round the harbour. However, little mini-bus dolmus run every 5 minutes for 2 lires which you can hail anywhere along the route so it is really easy. The reception staff were very helpful and spoke good English.

Room Tip: All rooms have harbour view except for ground floor

Just returned from a 6 night break at the Marina Vista and overall I would rate the hotel, rooms facilities, staff and food as excellent. There is a downside but some may enjoy the novelty of the shipyard views - well that is how the downtown map describes the area more of a beach yard full of yachts bought in for clean down and makeover. We spent several hours watching them pull up boats from the harbour and launching those ready to go back out for there summer cruising. Stay on the ground floor and you have no views a sea view gives you plenty to observe and sunshine most of the day too. Wander thru the yard to watch some really impressive yachts under construction mostly from wood quite impressive too. You are a good walk from the town but shuttle buses run every 5 mins and will pick you up on route if you tire of the walk 1.5 turk lira fro a single trip no matter how far you go. Wouldnt even bother with taxis as bus will get u just as quick.
The rooms were very clean and as an ex sensitive smoker of 4 months could not smell any tobacco in the rooms until approx 3rd day when we noticed the smell which seems to originate from the vent in the bathroom probably from other rooms - closed this vent and we did not notice it again.
We stayed half board which was very cheap and had a set meal each evening consisted of 3 courses and was very well prepared and presented along with our breakfast each day more than satisfied our need for food all day. Surprised how cheap Turkey is and a blast from the past when you could eat and drink all day and not worry about the price. A large beer at 6 lira or approx £2 served ice cold in a 4* hotel is pretty good.
If you are a boat lover you will love this hotel, if you want to get just out of town you will love this hotel. We wanted a small hotel good rating out of the complex and away from the night life and this is what we got in a nice clean friendly hotel.

Room Tip: Pick a sea view ie all rooms above ground floor face out into harbour and have a small balcony. The...

The rooms at this modern hotel are quite large for Turkey, with king beds and good-sized bathrooms as well. This property is next to a busy marina which can be noisy in the summer. The restaurant here is quite nice and offers a large array of international dishes from Mexican to Greek. The one negative element is that it is quite far from the center of town and there are few restaurants in the area. Parking is on the street.

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel to visit Fethiye and its islands.
The hotel is quite new and the building with swimming pool and restaurant area is very nice.

The main problem (non acceptable in my opinion) is that all rooms are full of smoking smell. We asked to have a change of room because the first one we had (obviously we booke a NO smoking room!!) was intolerable, but they showed us two other rooms and, even if the situation was a bit better, smoking smell was eveywhere and it was very hard to sleep at night with such a smell.

It is a real pity that a so nice building is treated so bad. Rooms are nice and there is a private harbour and a nice swimming pool.

Other 2 problemas are:
- it is out of fethiye, so you have to move by your own car or by bus
- there is a ship "parking" in front of the rooms and there is people working since early morning.

Breakfast is in a beautiful environment but quality is not very high and service is quite poor.

We asked at reception for a nice boat trip to the island saying that we were interested in something not crowded and not a big boat. They gave us the number of a captain they know and the experience had been terrible. A big boat, a lot of people, few stops and terrible food. If you are not sure about what you reccomend, please, don't do it!

Anyway in general the hotel has a high potential but my experience had been bad.

Room Tip: Keep attention to smoking smell. Low floor have no view.
