Last minute, first time in turkey for me, partner and 6 year old son Zac
Stunning place, very relaxing when you take a stroll about, a went for an early morning walk first day to get my bearings. Good idea to see the place and the beauty of it
We arrived after a fairly long transfer ( book a direct cab ) little info given in check in. Book a bungalow room but requested a hotel room if possible, this was granted.
Room was fine, small but modern third bed was a folding bed, took a lot of room up, just folded it up if needed.
Bathroom small but nice. No bath. Didn't bother us really.
Very small fridge unstocked with much but water.
Food as follows: many many very good quality salad options, with the addition of a make your eon salad station which was nice
(The two main buffet restaurants were very different I thought. The moonlight being the better by far, or if you can sit outside the Lycia restaurant overlooking the bay that's best as service much better)
No organisation in the indoor Lycia restaurant at all. They really needed someone to at least seat people. I on a few occasions had to lay my own table....other people I saw just stand at a table until it was cleared and reset.
Other food options; everything was always hot. Good start. Bread always fresh.
Chips on tap if needed.
Fresh fish every service. Sea bass, trout, sea bream
Roast chicken / turkey carvery
Veg was cooked so well ( ie broccoli) and not mushy at all...some achievement when catering for 100s of people
Terrible service compared to the alternative moonlight buffet. You had a drinks station on the way into the moonlight and the whole ambience was far better.
Desserts consisted of lots of baclava ( Turkish sweet cakes mainly with coconut)
The rice pudding pots were a nice touch
I could go on, but we were impressed by the food and it was not boring at all
The beaches were lovely. Who said the sea was awful in another review is wrong, not at all did we refrain from going in the sea due to it being dirty. Ignore that comment
The slides into the sea were lots of fun for our son who could swim to make it safe for him to use. He made friends every day and some special ones. Thanks to the three boys Jack, Noah, and Ruben playing with my son and leaving us your ball! Please get in touch if you read this so the boys can all perhaps play on minecraft! Zac has been asking.
Drinks were ok. Draft beer was Amstel. I asked for a mojito once and it was gladly made for me ( although with lemons not limes!)
There were lovely hammocks and swings dotted along the gardens and beach
Good touch is that you had water fountains dotted all alone the resort. So handy.
There were changing cubicles too on the beach and by the pools.
There is a lot going for this place, and I think when it's is all refurbished then it will be even more special.
Please chert all the staff up!
( apart from the last on the dolphin beach who made fantastic sweet and savoury pancakes all day)
Thanks letoonia for a lovely first time turkey experience. We had already booked to go to The Barut Lara in August so will have a comparison to make on out return.
