I first stayed in the Oykun for 3 weeks in 2007 - it was my first choice for 3 weeks during the Summer of 2008 and I returned again at the end of October. Can honestly say I was the last guest to leave at the end of the season. Oykun his family and staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. The hotel is clean, and reasonably priced. It's location is near enough to the beach and night life with out been too central.I've never had cause to complain about the noise at anytime of the year.Met people in October who had also stayed at the same time as me in 2007.The number of repeat customers is a good indication of the welcome you get and the quality of this accommodation. Part of me is tempted not to recommend it just in case they are fully booked when I want to go next year..........seriously the staff are mostly friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The hotel doesn't claim to be wall to wall luxury - the description on their website is honest. It's clean, it's comfortable, breakfast is good with lots of choice. The rate they charge for the safe and fridge is no higher and in many cases far lower than other hotels in the Fethiye area. Air conditioning is free - again not always the case in other 3* hotels. 25 YTL to keep the room is reasonable - many hotels can't tell you until the last morning and move you out of the room you had and just give you a time slot to shower and change in another room. Keep up the good work Oykun - I'll be back next year :-)

We have been to Turkey many times so we know what to expect. But after reading the reviews on this Hotel we thought we'd be in paradise....
......not so.

Location; On a back street next to a busy noisy dual carriageway.

Check in; Hello followed by do you want to hire a safe or fridge. I said I'd do it the following day. Saw a note in the room that fridge hire was £10 per week but they wouldn't honour it at reception and said they wanted 25 lira (obviously due to the exchange rate not being favourable. Porter carried suitcases up to room, there are 4 floors no lifts.

The Room; Twin beds (for a couple). Old looking brown furniture, small TV, aircon on wall. Shower/wc/sink (no plug). Small balcony just big enough for the two cheap plastic chairs provided. Some rooms have no balcony just a door that opens with railings with an uninterupted view of building being done by the hotel. Although building is suspended in the season. Towels and bedclothes rough enough to take your skin off.

The Bar; More expensive than the seafront bars. A nice touch was the fishing nets stretched over the bar area filled with old empty cigarette packets and the odd signed bikini bottom. (Very classy). Big TV, hardly ever on, but not worth watching when it was as no sky etc.

The Pools; One Large, one Smaller, clean and cold.

Staff; Ok but not over friendly, I think end of season blues had set in

Checkout; Wanted 25 lira to keep our room for 6 hours, had to haggle for 7.

The Food; We were half board (a mistake) breakfast was ok, but don't get used to something you like eg, scrambled egg because it won't be there the next day, it would be replaced by a cook making pancakes. Evening meals were hit and miss and ranged from delicious chicken shish kebabs to whole fish with head and tail on with a brown liquid. Always a selection of salad bits.

Plus Points; Very Clean, nice pool area. Staff OK.

Minus Points; Noisy, (had to buy earplugs to block out the traffic noise and guests returning shouting and screaming at 4,5,6 am).
Only One key and you had to put the fob in the wall to make the electrics work and guess what they'd WELDED THE KEY RING UP so you couldn't take the key off. So if you didn't want to go to bed at the same time as your partner you had either sleep with the door unlocked or give your partner the key and go to bed and swelter with no aircon.
No lifts and plenty of stairs.

When you put the aircon on all the electric tripped out we had the maintenance guy come to look and said he knew about it but didn't do anything.

No English TV in the bar (or rooms)area (If they did a lot more people would drink there)

The Resort of Calis; Calis is dirty and noisy with a long promenade of mainly bars and restaurants where you can run the gauntlet of a thousand "Yes pleases" or "Excuse me's" every night. If you're bored you can feed one of the many stray dogs that come and sit with you when you eat sometimes.. The beach was the biggest disappointment, it was a mixture of fine shingle, dog ends, old drink straws and discarded sticking plasters. It was filthy, (guess what the dogs use it for). The streets had piles of rubbish strewn in them and they were still there when we went home obviously no cleaning took place. If the land wasn't built on or owned it was just used as a fly tip by the locals, see the pics.

One highlight was we hired another room in the DELTA HOTEL on the seafront for two nights as a treat. We hired the top suite with a hot tub on the balcony, it was excellent watching the sunset while sitting in the hot tub.

Places to Visit; Fethiye Maret, Saklikent Gorge, Tlos, Gocek and you have to do some of the boat trips, all day on a boat for £6.

My advice, if you want to go to Turkey and your not fussed about a beach go to Dalyan and stay at the Sedir hotel it's a beautiful place. If you still want to go to Calis, stay at the Delta, once you've seen the beach you'll not want to use it anyway.

thanks for this review
we have almost 100 reviews about our hotel on hotel comments web sites. This is the first bad review about our hotel. We think that this rewiew is not reflects the true nature of our hotel and resort.
Our hotel is number 1 in the popularty index of Tripadvisor for many months in our location.in 2007 and 2008 season we have gold choice and gold medal from TUI group, first choice and thomson in 3 star catagory.
we are trying to give good service with reasonable price in 3 star catagory.but this guesth thinking to come to paradise.we are thinking that becouse of this idea he is not very happy.
we are happy to listen to all comments good or bad and try our best to make our guests stay a pleasant one.If this gentleman had complained to us whilst on holiday.we would have done our best to make him happy.but he dıd NOT complain anythıng while he was on holiday..

our bar is reasonably priced.we have no complaint before,of course we are lıtte bıt more expensive than small local restaurant.

our evening meals are typical turkısh buffet meals.ıf our half board guesths are not happy with evening buffet .we are happy to refund the price of the meal.we wish this gentleman complain this while he was on holiday.

our hotel is not near the main road.our hotel is 200 meter form the road and the beach.we are in quiet and central location.
the building in the photos next to the hotel are not connected to the hotel.there has been no complaint abouth noise or view concerning the building.

if this problems had been this year, how could we recieve gold medal award from 2000 Thomson guests,2008 year gold medal.

we give only one hotel key for securtiy reasons.
our hotel is 3 floors no lift.no lifts advertised.
we have 2 pool ,both of them is large enough for our hotel guests capacity.and october all pools are cool.
the gentleman writing in this review claims to have spent 2 nıghts in another hotel..but this gentlaman spent all his holiday in oykun hotel and transfered to airport from here.we dont understand this.also to advertise other hotels on our site is not very polite

please when you read this review look from both ways and read our past reviews.

thanks

Returned from the Oykun on 03/10/08. Had a wonderful time. Picked this hotel by reading the already posted excellent reviews and the reviews were spot on. Very clean hotel. Staff friendly and welcoming. Didn’t really eat much there apart from breakfast as we were B & B but it was ok. Enjoyed the freshly made omelettes and pancakes. Alcoholic drinks however were very expensive apart from the beer and wine so be warned. The beach is about a 5 min walk and is shingled and can be breezy even though it was very hot you could get too cold on the beach because of the wind. The pool was lovely so spent quite a few days chilling out there as always plenty of beds available. Overall a brilliant holiday and we hope to go again in early May.

A last-minute booking which Goldie, Oykun's wonderful receptionist, was able to accommodate. We were met from the airport and conveyed quickly and smoothly to the hotel, where we found everyone as warm, friendly, and helpful as usual. The hotel is of an excellent standard, clean, comfortable, with a comprehensive breakfast choice, and with very good facilities with its 2 pools, in-house Turkish Bath and its Bowling Green (the first in Turkey!) We were delighted to learn that Thompson had awarded it the accolade of its best hotel in the whole of Turkey for last year (2007), and we wouldn't be surprised if it repeated its achievement in 2008.

Calis Beach has undergone a substantial programme of improvements over the 12 years that we have been visiting (the last 5 at the Oykun), and it has all been tasteful and a considerable improvement. With Fethiye just a short ferry (or dolmus) ride across the bay (or you could even walk!), it remains a magical place, which I hope we will be revisiting for many years to come.

Hi,this is our second trip to calis turkey.
If the first hotel was anything to go by we would not have returned to calis(Koc sun)this was terrible and would not want my worst enemy to stay here.
But this time we stayed at the Oykun hotel could not fault a single thing this hotel is better kept than some 5 stars we have been too.
Rooms are spotless, staff are helpful and friendly,Food was good, pool areas are clean with a good amount of sun beds.
To sum it up a fantastic holiday in a fantastic hotel will be going back next year.
