Our Daughter got married at this hotel (in 2007) and the owner Mete could not do enough for all who were staying as we were occupying the whole building ,The only complaint I heard of is my two sons room which was on top floor with a very small window which was quite dull.
We had a great time there and all the staff were very accommodating and I have had to put October 2012 for time of travel as the choice only went back to that date ,we stayed in Sept 2007.

Room Tip: ask to go on the first floor and away from the front if you go to bed quite early.

We stayed in the Golden Moon for 1 week in August. Its close to shops and beach promenade. Rooms spotlessly clean with crisp white towels and linen. Yelda in Reception is helpful. But avoid the overpriced BBQ and Chicken evenings.

Room Tip: Best rooms on first or second floor overlooking the pool

Overall, I really like this hotel. Good pool, pleasant rooms and a good breakfast.

I spent my days chatting with Madge, the resident clairvoyant/pool whiz - she was a hoot - and lounging on lilos as I sunned myself.

Ray - my travelling companion had less of a good time. While my room was a spacious, air conditioned oasis, Ray's was like a volcanic wasteland - hot, humid and with wood cladding. I overheard a few people complain about these rooms during my stay; they expected a room with a balcony and had ended up cowering in the eaves, like a fugitive. On the brightside, I understand that these rooms are being renovated in time for next summer - hurray!

August 2012 we arrived at this hotel at around 3 am. When we arrived at the hotel we had to wait until 7 am for the manager to come to the hotel because there was s problem. They had double booked several rooms with people who had walked in off the street. They put us in a backstreet unknown hotel. We had to stay there for 3 days until our room was sorted. To my knowledge there were 5/6 other families who also had to be put in other hotels.

August 2013 we arrived at the hotel again at 4 am. Based on last years experience we weren't expecting any more problems. We were tired and we just wanted to get some sleep. We had payer extra to have a corner room but when we got to our room we were put in a room meant for 2 beds with another 'bed' in the corner. The bed in the corner was a metal frame with pillows. The room was very small and not meant for 3 people. We had to put our suitcases in the bathroom. When talking to the receptionist about them putting us in the wrong room it was like a scene from little British. The only thing she would ever say is hotel full... She really did not care about what room we were in. After she would not help I sat in reception and waited for the manager for 3 hours. He was in the hotel the whole time but did not want to talk to me. After numerous phone calls back to Britain we were finally moved the following afternoon in a room that was empty when we arrived at the hotel. The miserable receptionist claims that the corner room was for 4 people but there us nowhere in the room another bed could be placed. The receptionists and manager are not freindly but the other staff were. The hotel was clean. Cleaners would leave empty glasses on stairs and by windows. Again this year several families were turned away due to rooms being double booked.

Avoid this hotel. There are many other hotels availible in valid that are generally better. If you have booked in this hotel be prepared to be turned away especially if you have booked a corner room. They will give a room to anyone if the streets as long as they have money regardless of if the hotel is full.

AVOID THIS HOTEL

We have visited Calis Beach before but not the Golden Moon. Mete & his staff go all out to make this venue feel like your very own holiday home and one that you will wish to return to. Room furnishings are basic but entirely adequate and a big plus is the free air conditioning. Usual Mediterranean style breakfasts are available from 8 - 10 am with an option for a full English if required. In addition, pancakes, omelettes and scrambled eggs make weekly guest appearances. Sizzling rotisserie chicken and barbecue nights are also a weekly event and the set evening meals often include fish and chips and roast beef! Lunchtime snack menus are available on the terrace by the pool but if you fancy something more substantial, further extensive menus are available at the bar for both lunchtime and evening meals. Sunday nights are a must for all pool fans as weekly competitions with prizes are held from 10pm. The hotel is just behind the main Calis Beach "strip" and as such is protected from late night noise and sleeping was no problem at all. Even in the highest temperatures, it only takes about 3-5 minutes to reach the seafront on foot. At the risk of leaving out those equally worthy of praise, our special thanks must go to owner Mete, Yelda at reception (who insists that everyday is her birthday!), Ali ("Go my son!") behind the bar, "Pompey" Burak (now a fully fledged Portsmouth Football Club supporter) and Erto & Kemal. Collectively, they make all the difference between a good stay and a fantastic stay and we have no hesitation in recommending the Golden Moon.

Room Tip: 1st & 2nd floor rooms are standard twin rooms with balconies but not all look out onto the pool...

This comfortable hotel is ideally situated within 5 minutes of the promenade. The room was kept spotless daily and the creative towel designs were amazing with the linen changed regularly. The breakfast were mainly cold buffet style with some cereal and melon available. We had freshly made pancakes and omlettes some mornings. The pool area which was always kept clean had plenty room for sufficient sunbeds both on the grass areas and round the pools. Ali the friendly barman was always cheery and full of fun. We enjoyed the bbq one night but ate out at one of the many great restaurants. Obens at the end of the prom being our favourite.
This was our third visit to Calis and enjoyed our stay in the Golden Moon but our only grump was that the owners little dog was allowed in the dining room at breakfast and was wandering around yapping and then put on a chair at the table! A definate no no for us.
All in all a lovely hotel with great staff at a very reasonable cost.

We chose this hotel after reading many reviews on Trip Advisor praising it so highly.
We took the advice of those who have had experience of the promo rooms and ensured we did not book one.
However, on arrival at 5am we were shown to a promo room. We waited until the very lovely Yelda arrived on reception at 8am and showed her our paperwork and she agreed that we had not booked the promo room but the hotel was full so we could not be moved.
We spoke to the manager later on and he said our booking had not been confirmed by the agent so that is why we had been allocated this room. He did offer to upgrade us to half board or pay difference in room prices.
I contacted our agent who investigated on our behalf and confirmed the hotel was overbooked.Sadly we had pulled the short straw so were stuck in a tiny room in the attic with only two small high windows and no balcony for 2 weeks. We had little choice other than accept the compensation offered of £42 for the 2 weeks. To say we were extremely disappointed would be an understatement.
If my review prevents anyone else ending up in this predicament I will be very happy. Please, please be aware that by not booking a promo room is no guarantee that you will not be allocated one.
This hotel otherwise is lovely and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It is the first time I have been on holiday and seen so much of the manager. He is very friendly and approachable and quite obviously wants all his guests to have a wonderful holiday. This does not detach from the fact though that he allows his hotel to be overbooked on a regular basis. There were more people that arrived after us that had been allocated a promo room that they had not booked.
So, PLEASE heed my advice and beware.
