We've just returned (on 25th June) from a week at the Hotel Bahar. Booked it on strength of great TripAdvisor reviews but were a bit wary as it was so reasonable considering it had such a good write up. Everything was brilliant!!!! What a lovely friiendly place Calis Beach is and especially this hotel. Dont listen to any bad reviews....you would have to be mega mega critical to fault this for the money and location.
Very briefly -
Hotel - small family run hotel with lovely pool and poolside restaurant. 30 second walk to the beach. Rooms - nice recently refurbished contemporary style, modern, very very clean with walk in shower/wet room (dont leave your towel in there when showering!!).Really efficient aircon (you may want to use the duvet cover they supply!!)
Location- right on the promenade which has nice selection of restaurants. Not too many shops but get the water taxi (5 lira each way per person) to fetiyhe which has loads more shops and bars etc. Do it in evening when sun setting and you get yourself a cheap sundowner cruise thrown in for nothing!
Shopping- as I say, shopping limited in Calis but they have a decent size market on sunday which is15 min walk from hotel or 3 mins in domus. Fetiyhe market on Tuesdays which is larger (and hotter!!)
Food- food is very good at the hotel, even though its limited to one or 2 hot dishes at lunch/dinner but we really enjoyed everything. Lovely salads.Breakfast is generally boiled eggs, toast, scrambled egg, ham, cheeses etc but plenty of places for a cheap full monty if thats what your stomach needs at that early hour!!
Drinks - usual all inc - beer, vodka, wine (not vintage but hey! what do you expect!!), soft drinks etc
Excellent cocktail bar called Sims- turn right on prom and about 500 yards down- mohitos to die for!!
Entertainment - the hotel is not in your face at all. The entertainment low key (belly dancer, quiz nite, singer etc) but all ok for a nice relax. The family also run the beach front bar which fronts the prom- great large screen tv (to watch England embarrass themselves in the footie!!) and nice chill areas.
Generally - this is one of the friendliest hotels we've been to in Turkey and the staff go out of their way to help. Calis Beach is a great little resort to go off on trips or chill on the beach (small shingle stones but not too bad on your feet or wear jelly shoes). Its a lovely stroll along the prom in the evening with the added facility to get the water taxi to fetiyhe which takes 30 mins, runs every half hour and is mega cheap.
Although its a family hotel, I would probably say it scores more with couples and even a few single people we met there as its so friendly.
