“Another wonderful holiday at the Bahar”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

This is our second visit to the Bahar Calis Beach, we went for the first time last year in September and have just returned from two weeks, and we found everything just as nice as our last visit.

The staff are all very helpful and everything was very clean, as I have mobility problems stayed on the ground floor and this year had room 103, the beds where made every day and towels changed, the only day we did not have the room cleaned was change over day, which was fine with us, as do you have clean towels and sheets everyday at home?

The rooms are a little short on draw space, only one, but there is a shelf in the wardrobe, but a nice large chair which my husband found very useful to put things on. Chair is not needed really as chairs on the balcony and we do not wish to watch television while on holiday rather be in the sun.

We found the food very good and only eat out 4 times in the 14 days, and only 1 of those was due to what was on the menu, which was fish with its head on and not filleted. But even then there was loads of lovely salad. Always hot choices for breakfast, a nice selections at lunchtime.

As someone mentioned the family eat, sometimes at the same time as the guests, I thought this was good as they where eating the same food, so must be ok.

The drinks where really good ok local brands, wine on tap help yourself and that was an improvement on last year. Diet pepsi, as well as tea, coffee, orange and water on tap all day.

I think the main thing to think of when reading the reviews on the Bahar is the price you pay for the holiday, this is marked as a 3 star hotel, we have stayed at 4+ hotels, which have not been as good and they have only been bed and breakfast. The price is so 3There are some lovely places to visit and food and drink is very reasonable, as the pound is strong at the moment, we where getting 3.57 tl to the pound.

The water taxi over to Fethiye from Calis Beach is on 5tl each way. Calis is not so busy har as some of the Turkish destinations, but it is flat so walking, friendly not pushy, even the restaurants do not mind you looking at the menu.
the Lighthouse out the front which give you a discount if you are staying in the Bahar.

We will be returning next year to this happy, friendly hotel and hope to meet up with some of the same people as this year. Some people expect so much and can be very rude and inconsiderate of other people who are also on holiday, this is not the Hotels fault. who tried there best.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms if mobility problems, but expect to get a bit of noise from people coming in late...

Like many people who go to the Bahar I am a repeat customer. I have always found it to be a excellent hotel with friendly staff and clean rooms. Some people have mentioned that the food isn't up to much, well it's all cooked fresh and something for everyone, and if you don't like it then there are plenty of restaurants that you can eat in very very cheaply ( the price of the holiday is so cheap you can afford to do this ) This year they even had help yourself red and white wine from the tap, so what on earth do people want !! Excellent value for money, I must also mention Ian who excels in customer service. We come to this friendly hotel to relax and enjoy the hot Turkish sun ( which we did ) this is not our main holiday so not a skin flint, have been all over the world and try to come back to the Bahar at least once a year. Well done again Bahar, and hope to be back soon !

Another brilliant fortnight at the Bahar. Wonderful staff, great location. great food, salads particulary good, lovely well kept pool & room cleaned to a high standard. This hidden gem is what it says it is, small & friendly. We just love it,

Room Tip: If disabled, ask for ground floor. For sea view have upper room & take own towels for sunbeds

Just returned from another brilliant holiday at the Bahar hotel, Calis Beech. This is our 4th year and the staff and management are all so friendly and helpful. Food was exellent, always a number of choices to choose from.

Perhaps it would be most useful if there was a porter on change over days to help with luggage to the upper 1st and 2nd floors. Hopefully we will be back again next year health committing.

This was our fourth time at the Bahar which has been a great place over the years; however, it will be our last. From a warm welcome received over the years, we received a frosty hello from an old woman who really wasn't concerned whether we were there as friends, guests or vermin.
We had to carry our suitcases up three flights of stairs without assistance, OK I'm not an old man, but help from the porter would have been nice.
The once nice aroma of the hotel had changed to a dusty odour throughout, which wasn't pleasant.
You could seriously see before we got any further that there were real cutbacks at this Hotel. This was evident when on our second day we were told that rooms are not cleaned after your first night....They reluctantly gave us clean towels.... This was the first hotel I have stayed in around the world that has this policy.

We advised them several times that the socket in our room was hanging off the wall, this was ignored until it fell off and the Chef came to repair it.

The threadbare carpet on the landing tops is also dangerous as it catches shoes as you step up. Several elderly people had a problem with this.
My final moan ( and images will bare us out) was the cracking and missing plaster around the hotel.....It all looks nice on the ground floor, but go up one level and it is in desperate need of repair.... All top show, Fur coat and no underwear....

Finally, I wish they would remove the old dirty sofa and used mattress from the garden area, it is awful...

Now, the food was very acceptable and the staff in the Café, as it can't be classed as a restaurant are very helpful and polite, especially Ian who will do anything for you.
It would be nice I the tables had covers or cloths on and the cutlery was laid out for you (another cut back)
Believe it or not, we had a great break for a week in May as we do most years before our main August holiday, but we will never return to this Hotel, which has really lost its way from being a hidden Gem to a low standard accommodation in just over 18 months.....
Please view the images, if you know the Bahar you will be amazed it's dropped in standard so much.

Yes I know that the cost isn't excessive and it is a budget hotel, but if you set a standard, you should keep it. What a shame.....

Room Tip: Get a lower floor room

Excellent value for money, great location, very clean rooms, small selection of dishes in the restaurant but all very good. for what you pay.
