“Great location but needs improving”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

The hotel is situated right on the beachfront promenade but the rooms, although adequate, are in need of refurbishment. Staff responded very quickly to requests to adjust A/C and top sheets for the bed. Breakfast though was very poor both in quality and choice. Great selection of bars & restaurants nearby with excellent value for money

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view

This was our first visit to this particular hotel although we had been to Calis Beach before. We prefer to stay in a "small but friendly" hotel which tend to be rated 3 star by the tour companies. The family run Mutlu is situated right on the sea front at Calis. Although only a moments stroll from the bars and restaurants of the resort centre it is lovely and quiet. Our room (213) was smallish and basically furnished. The decoration is a bit tired and it would have been nice to have some shelves in the two cupboard but it was beautiful clear. The ensuite was poorly designed but the shower was powerful and there was always lots of very hot water. The room had wonderful sea views and the balcony had a small table and a couple of chairs - a lovely spot to enjoy a drink before heading out for dinner. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was typical of Turkey. We had lunch there a couple of times and enjoyed what we ordered. Gardens and pool very neatly kept with plenty of sunbeds and brollies - good ratio of full sun and shadier spots to spend the day. The hotel is 3 mins walk to the ferry to Fethyihe and other boat trips. All in all a very enjoyable break although we did think that Calis was looking a bit tattier than our last visit 3 years ago

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mutlu and have nothing but praise for the service and friendly staff. We return every year and are returning next year as it a superb location and meets all our needs. Roll on next year

Room Tip: overlooking the pool

We can't praise the Hotel Mutlu enough. It may be a 3* hotel but we feel we get 5* service. We have been going to this hotel for at least ten years and wouldn't go to any other place in Turkey. The staff are so very friendly, yes, the rooms could do with being updated but are spotlessly clean, towels are changed daily and bedding changed every other day, what more could you ask for. Breakfast is typically Turkish, not everybody's choice but perfectly adequate and beautifully laid out and all very fresh. All food is freshly cooked and very tasty Some people are so critical and say they aren't too impressed with the hotel, that the staff aren't very friendly, they aren't happy with the breakfast, we have never had any problems at any time. Our thanks to the Hotel Mutlu for making us so welcome and we look forward to another holiday with you next year.

Room Tip: Poolside rooms have afternoon sunshine

Stayed for two weeks at the beginning of May, it was a bit quiet the first week, not many people in the hotel.
The rooms are comfortable, although the bed was very hard for us, bedding spotlessly clean as were the towels and bathroom. Could do with a lick of paint in places.
There was a hair drier in the room but it was £10 pw to hire a safe located in a cupboard in the room. Lots of coat hangers in the wardrobe.
Our room was located on the pool side and we could hear some late night noise from a bar just over the bridge and the apartments next door have 3 dogs that bark on and off.
Breakfast was predictable, but perfectly adequate, cereals, bread, toast, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, cake, preserves, etc, although for 4 consecutive days there were no fried eggs or omelettes. If you want a decent cup of coffee in the morning, take your own!
Location is excellent, a few minutes walk from shops, restaurants and water taxi and a few yards from the sea and when you opened the patio door you can hear the waves while you lay in bed! Views of the sunsets are spectacular.
Would definitely go again.

We enjoyed the pleasant experience of this hotel in the first week of May, and the location was perfect, just on the beach. The staff were very friendly, helpful and cheerful.
There is plenty of space downstairs in the hotel, reading room and sitting area looking out onto the garden, swimming pool, and sea with the backdrop of the mountains.
It's rather windy, but we didn't find it too much so, particularly when the temperature rose to the 70s
Drawbacks included not taking a credit card - every thing extra had to be in cash. This stopped us for 'eating in' as we didn't have sufficient cash every day.
Another was the lack of fruit for the buffet breakfast, which was otherwise very good.

Room Tip: Bring your own sheets if you don't like the 'Turkish' bed linen.

returned 23rd September for a 10 day stay, and we arrived at 8.45 p.m and were shown to a lovely room except that it had not been serviced since the departure of the previous occupants. Not a brilliant start to the holiday, however, all was settled to our satisfaction the following day,and Thomson's gave us a complimentary visit to Fethyie for a sunset cruise.Again, position is second to none and the current chef, who has been there for many years, produces excellent food.
Owners a little aloof and Edna the receptionist lives on another planet, but is quite friendly once she has overcome her morning headache. We shall probably go again next June, all being well.Hussain, the boss waiter, was away for much of the time due to a family bereavement we understood, and things ran much more smoothly without him.A new young waiter,Mike, was an absolute star and should be promoted,But he will be doing his national service next year.
