“Excellent Management and Hospitality”
Reviewed 13 August 2010

I recently visited this hotel with my 2 sons and their friend. The hotel was very pleasant, brilliant entertainment activities a few nights a week such as the belly dancing and Turkish dancing- and great facilities such as swimming pool, games room and two bars. The staff were always very helpful, on arrival they were very welcoming and willing to have a chat. The customer relations manager Nurhan was very helpful and polite to us on our stay- helping us iron out a few problems that we initially had (which were in fact caused by ourselves!!). Each day when we walked through the hotel for breakfast and on the way into town she would stop and speak to us, giving us friendly advice about the surounding areas and culture, even teaching us a little bit of Turkish to help us out- which is always handy to know. The rooms were sufficient for our needs, always kept clean and tidy by the maids. From the experience that we had there, I am unsure what all the bad reviews are about- but we certainly had a great time there, and will certainly go back again soon!!

Arrived at Destan no room available, had to trapse around up & down the stairs, some blocks had no lights, when finally settled into room it was in the basemant, very clean, maids couldn't do enough, Pool areas fab, most of staff very pleasant, breakfast basic but no t organised, wouldn't have liked to stay half or full board as the food is fetched from another block there is no kitchen near breakfast eating area, not enough staff!! the animation team were excellent although have learnt soon after we left so did they!! they were fed up with the bad management, The manager and owner & a few cronies were always there but were very ignorant and did not want to listen if there was a problem, they couldn't even look at people never mind say Hello or good night!! the customer relations lady is at first ok, however don't be fooled she is a camelion, she has no idea how to sort out problems she just gets nasty when she can't sort out a problem. IF ANYONE STAYS IN BASEMENT ROOMS, TRY IT FOR A NIGHT BEFORE PURCHASING AIR CON the rooms are cool & air con is NOT nessesary in the basement, it has gone up to £5 per day thats very expensive compared to other hotels in the area, it has just gone up from £3 to £5 a night since the new horrendous management have taken over. The hotel would be great without them. otherwise it was a nice little hotel, if you want 5 star pay 5 star, ok for the money if they would get rid of the new manager he is ignorant!!!!!

I was going to come and defend the Destan Hotel after going there for the past 3 years and the rest of my family have been going for the past 4 years. The rooms have not always been the best, but the location, pool and staff offset the leaky showers. I would never go back now, the hotel has changed hands and it’s so rude, dirty and just awful. The first night we arrived we asked if there were any rooms in the newer block, the man on reception said not tonight but come back tomorrow were see what we can do. We got to our room and the shower just dripped out. So in the morning we went to reception to ask about moving and getting the shower fixed, well we spoke to the customer relations manager, which really needs to work on her customer relations skills. She was so rude and just talked over us and her attitude stunk, her answer was if you don’t like it go some were else and that was the answer she had. That night the shower was fixed give them that.
The rooms had been painted over the winter but still there was mould up the wall and ceiling in the bedroom and bathroom, the room smelt of damp and urine all the time, the shower leaked, but that was normal, the sink moved, toilet seat was not attached. The mould got worse over the two weeks we was there, when we moved our suite cases at the end of the holiday to pack, they was covered with mould. It’s not only the rooms, it’s the staff and manager which was a big problem, while we was there three staff got the sack for fighting with English tourists.
In the second week we came across about 200 pepper sliced behind the old reception desk on a Destan bed sheet and they was still there when we left. We confronted the customer relations manager when we left on the peppers and she insisted it was where people eat them and throw them behind there. No way they were for someone’s dinner, they was not eaten apart from the ants, they must have put them there. We also confronted her about the mould every were and getting worse, and her answer was if was dirt and we put it there, oh yes I always take my stash of mould on holiday with me, what a joke!!!
Moral of the story is if there is a problem with the hotel it would be down to you and it’s your problem. We would never return again.

Rooms were good spacious and clean (ish). Location excellent. Management don't have a CLUE how to run a Hotel. We were half board, first night greeted with "Fish and Chips" nothing else, we had to make a big fuss to get any sort of choice of food, for 2 weeks it was CHICKEN OR MEAT BALLS!!!! Management couldn't raise a smile to any of the guests never mind a casual "Good morning" we found their rudeness very disturbing.
They also CONFISCATE water any food or drink they see you enter the hotel with, if you were depending on there food you would starve.
Next year apparently going "All Inclusive" My advice would be "DON'T GO"

We were placed in this hotel after being informed on arrival that our hotel we had chosen was fully booked. When I say on arrival I mean when they had dropped us off at this hotel at 4am after a night of travelling. On entry to the hotel we were met with a dusty back road with stray birds running around. The staff were rude and laughed at us in Turkish, whilst seeing that we were clearly upset after having been told there was no where else that had rooms free. The rooms we were given were on the top floor. They clearly used to be staff rooms as there were no windows and of a very bad quality. The lights didn't work in one room so my friends had to come over to our room whenever they wanted to shower. To make matters worse me and my friend were woken in the night by a drunken man using his key to open our door (he was meant to be next door, but it turned out his key also unlocked our door). The air conditioning didn't work, even though we had to pay extra for it. We were offered no kind of compensation. Overall it was a holiday from hell and I couldn't wait to get back to England. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

After arriving in the early hours, my 18 year old daughter and I were very warmly welcomed in reception and our bags were carried to our downstairs room in the main corridor. The room was amply sized with two single beds a large wardrobe television dressing table with full mirror( a must have with a teenager).
The bathroom was beautifully clean with a hairdryer attached to the wall very powerful indeed.
The view from the window was limited but we had no intention of sitting on the balcony.
The pool is BRILLIANT, huge and very, very clean and tidy. The staff were seen all day cleaning around it and removing other peoples rubbish. There are ample sunbeds and parasols, which were very much needed as it is a suntrap and the temperatures were in the 100's.
The staff bring food and drinks to where you are lying soaking up the sun. We didn't stay for any entertainment in the hotel as we have friends who live out there and stayed with them every night BUT despite what others are saying, we were never bothered or ignored for not doing so.
I would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel to people of all ages and genders, we have stayed in some dives ie; The Balkaya...but The Destan is a lovely run hotel.
You step out of the front doors and the Azda is by your side selling everything you need and the town centre is a 2 minute walk.
We did experience noise but come on, you go there for a holiday not a retreat!!! People enjoy themselves and there was never any trouble.
I hope this has allayed some peoples fears as I hate not to give credit where it is due.
We go back on July 23rd this year and are really looking forward to it .

The thing that makes this hotel exactly worst is the rooms. You are staying a hotel for resting, well sleeping and trying to prepare yourself the other beatiful day in Fethiye BUT in this hotel you can not. The hotel rooms are dirty and moistry. You cannot touch anything. Hotel is cheap but this doesn't means that can be play with human health. Here is some photos. I replaced the hotel and after saw the fiasco we had moved another place at the same day. Pls take care, there are a lot of Hotels in this region for to lodge you w/i healthy.
