I stayed a couple of doors down from here until yesterday and the Pelin Hotel is unfortunately closed and guests shared out to surrounding hotels due to earthquake damage. Luckily this seems to be the only real casualty in Calis Beach. This is just a warning in case it's still advertised anywhere to check with the hotel directly when it will re-open.
Aparently it cracked from top to bottom! Such a shame as it's so well regarded. I hope they can repair and open asap.

We stayed here for 2weeks starting 15th May 2012 and WOW such a lovely hotel. When we arrived late at night we were welcomed by reception and a lovely young man who carried our cases to our room which was amazingly clean and spacious and was missing nothing, we had more than ample mirrors, a t.v (only received a few english channels, news being one of them but then who goes on holiday to watch t.v)safety deposit box which was 2.5lira a day(just over 71p) wi-fi or you can use there computer/internet for 2lira an hour,A/C which worked lovely, hairdryer and lovely bathroom, lovely balcony and views to take your breath away,as we had never been to Calis Beach before we did,nt realise that we were going to be surrounded by the most beautiful mountains. The decor was lovely and we had carpets through-out. First morning we went to breakfast which was between 8 and 10 (we went half board and to be honest we ate so much we were permanantly stuffed) the breakfast was tradition turkish, salad, cold meat, cheese etc you could slice your own bread and toast how ever many slices you wanted, there were a choice of two cereals and also a hot option but it was mainly eggs boiled or fried, also coffee and juice, but we loved it all and you could go up for more as many times as you wanted. Evening meal(between 7 and 9pm) was a superb choice, there was a soup starter with bread, again you cut as much as you want, the main was lots of salad and loads of different coleslaw type mixes (around 12 or more) with around six different hot dishes, which were NOT all chicken we had a great choice, each night was different, whole fish the one night massive meatballs another (we were taking 2 plates each to fit it all on) i think some people go abroad and still expect things to be done how the british do them well stay in uk then we love our food and are very fussy but i will be staying here again, then there were desserts again typically turkish but lush. The view from restaurant again amazing. The staff were all lovely and friendly and you can phone from your room for snacks and drinks (between 10am and 6pm snacks, 10am and 2 am drinks) to be taken to your room. Reception is 24 hour and there is a nice t.v and reading room in reception area which is relaxing with settees and books. The pool is excellant, very big and there are more than enough sunloungers we never struggled for space by the pool at all and no towel freaks either (silly ones who put towels on loungers night before) yet again the views from pool area amazing. The hotel was situated across the road from the beach front area which was no problem as NOT busy as some in past reviews have made out, there is a lovely river you walk along from hotel to get to shops beach ect full of turtles and fish which only adds to the whole experience, Calis Beach is lovely you can stroll on the seafront for miles and we walked to Fethiya but it is only 2lira by dolmus ( about 71p) or you can go by boat which is lovely for 5lira (less than 2pound) Area is cheap but as with everywhere depends on what you buy, average 8 pound for a three course meal, we took enough for 20pound a day and that was more than enough, not that we ate out though as found a snack from the poolside bar was cheapest place, we had a burger each and fries which cost us 4pound, to be honest the hotel was cheap for drinks, snacks and ice-cream. Getting around is easy just stick your hand out for the dolmus you want (they have destination boards on front of the busses) and usually around 2lira each (71p) a local journey but then it only cost us 4lira(1.42) each to get to olu Deniz which was 12miles away. I would say Calis beach is not the place to go if you want pubs n clubs etc it is a more relaxed place to go if you love great scenery, great restaurants, great beach, lovely shops, lovely sunsets friendly people, no hustle n bustle then this is the place for you. As for the hotel i would not recommend it for families as not alot for children, there is a childs pool but only the size of a foot bath and the large pool is the same depth throughout (i am 5 foot 5 and could just about stand up) One thing i would say is that do not hire a fridge as the hotel does not permitt ANY food or drink bought elsewhere on the premises not even water (another reason i would not recommend for families) this is becoming the norm in Turkey now as alot of signs outside hotels stating the same, and if you try to bring it in they WILL take it off you, we never found this a problem only once when we had a few beers that we planned to drink on balcony taken off us :( , but as i said the hotel is not dear and if you,ve got a big bag......lol........anyway hope this helps, we loved the area and hotel very much and will be returning, Barbara aged 41 and Spencer aged 46.

Having stayed here for 4 consecutives years thought I would let others know how good this gem of a hotel is. Right in the centre of Calis beach but not over a night club or bar this hotel is a perfect get away for couples and families alike. Its amazingly clean and the staff couldnt be more hospitable
Its NOT a 'Brits abroad' hotel so expect beautiful Turkish cuisine and unending European style breakfast (not bacon eggs and beans!!!)
The credit card system for payment of drinks and lunch time snacks is run efficieintly and you can settle up daily, weekly, or fortnightly, or as and when.
The rooms sleep two or three comfortably and the cleaners decorate the beds with freshly picked flowers and towel shapes. The balconies are small but perfect fror a sunset drink and the sunsets are amazing.
There is evening shows which are worth the wait but only three times a week. This is not a hotel wher you or your children are entertained. Mine enjoyed the rabbits , the play park and the beautiful pool and were quite happy just entertaining themselves on lilos or snorkelling, playing pool and table tennis. Sultans water park is a 15 mins walk and the Sunday market is better than Dagenhams!!! The water taxi takes a 20 min trip to Feithye for 5 lire or the bus is 2 lire. There the market will blow even the best of shoppers away, with probably near on 600 stalls!!!
Reliable sun and peaceful setting makes this an amazing holiday and hotel that you will return to several times before you want to let others in on the secret!!!

Room Tip: they are all fab!!

After reading some of the reviews on this hotel I wonder why some people bother to go away lol
We are a couple in our late 50's (going on 21) found the hotel to be fine our room was a double one with a lovely view overlooking the pool and the Fethiye mountains it had all the things that one would expect of the room, very clean, free air conditioning, and a safe. We do not need to stay around the hotel every day but if you are one of those persons that never moves from a sun lounger or your room then you need to pay a higher price for a more star rating.
We had booked bed and breakfast, because we like to eat out.The turkish breakfast was of the norm what you would expect in Turkey, however evening meals should we have chosen we could have eaten at the hotel 'evening buffet' which was very good according to other guests. we did not pay alot for our holiday we went for the excellent weather and the hospitality of the Turkish people.
Prices for drinks and snacks were reasonably priced on the whole as there had been a massive price increase in taxes on food and expecially on alcohol.
The pool was of a generous size with a childrens pool at one end and it was also by a childrens play area which I think was gated for safety and looked to have nice childrens play equipment. It was away from the pool bar but not all people want to have children running around them.
The dining/and room staff we found to be very pleasant the reception staff were very good and helful.
Yes it was on a card system which sometimes did annoy people but as long as you retained your receipt there were no problems.
I do think that they could improve on the pool bar staff if I had one complaint to make, they must be the most miserable men in Turkey lol and do rather let the hotel down in that area unfriendly and arrogant.
I see some people complained of not being able to take food into the hotel, perhaps they did not know that nearly all hotels dont like it even in this country. We did take in water and snacks but discreetly you dont have to be showing a supermarket bag full of goodies.
Ok the kerbs are steep but did you forget to mention in your reviews that in Turkey they have high kerbs because they have so much rain it gets flooded in winter and you will find these high kerbs in other parts of Turkey too where there are canals. I am 5 foot tall waiting for knee replacement but I was able to abseil them lol and play chicken across the dual carriageway, seriously it was not as bad as people lead you to believe.
There are so many wonderful trips to do, cruises on the boats with lunch for the pricely sum of around £9 each, markets, days out to see some of the lovely Turkish villages and scenery.
One thing I would advise is to read about a resort/reviews before you book your holiday if you do not know where you are going, then you wont be disappointed, dont take the travel agents advise check before you book, they tell you anything.
There was a grand old couple staying at the hotel who were from Cumbria she was 80 and he was 84, they spent the morning by the pool and went to the beach in the afternoon. Plenty of lessons to be learned from that couple who love Turkey so much and had seen so many changes only hope I am like them as I get older with there smiley laughing faces, they were just hoping that they will be well enough to travel next year. God willing they will.

The Pelin is such great value for money. The whole place is very clean and tidy. Your rooms are cleaned to a very high standard, and the beds made with cute decorations.
Reception and restaurant staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful, teaching us as much turkish as we wanted. The pool staff aren't always very chirpy, but to be fair, they seem to work very long hours.
Breakfast is a good choice every day, of turkish and cereal, toast-delicious bread, and always something hot.
We only went to dinner once as we weren't half board, but the selection was excellent, 3 great courses-as much as u want to eat- for £8.
The hotel provide water, drinks, snacks all reasonably priced. You are given a card rather than use money for hotel purchases, that you can pay up when ever you choose.
The hotel is on a main road one side, but its not very busy and there are plenty of safe areas to cross, to get to the beach 2 minutes walk away.
Calis beach is lovely, pebbly in most parts but clean. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from. It wasn't as cheap as we were expecting but it was still cheap, a main course averaging around £6.The locals are really friendly and not the least bit sleazy or hassling as I expected. They do encourage you to go into their shop/restaurant, but are fine if you say no. They loved that my partner and I had taken the time to learn sme basic turkish. They all speak excellent english but seem to appreciate the effort.
DO NOT go to COBRA kebab restaurant at the cross roads in Calis, was rubbish! Dennis the Menace on the front was excellent, and great value for money.
The trips you can go on, brought from the agencies on the beach front are good value. We would recommend any island boat tour, paragliding and hiring your own moped and getting around. The jeep safari is better if you don't go with FOCUS, they were ok for some stuff but the jeep safari, we heard, was better with other agencies.
Oludeniz is beautiful and defo worth a visit, and Hisaronu is very british, but a bit cheaper and plenty to do at night.Fethiye market on a tues, is huge, be prepared to haggle hard and get a good deal-most stuff is fake, but pretty good fakes.

Room Tip: defo ask for pool view in new building

LOCATION:
As people have said, this hotel is located on the wrong side of a dual carriageway. With 18 inch high curbs. Not a problem for me, but my elderly father wasn't too pleased. If anyone finds this a problem, just ask at reception for a taxi and it will be outside the door in 2 minutes. Taxi fare to the bridge crossing at Calis beach is only around 6TL as it is only 5 to 10 minutes walk away.

FOOD:
Food is ok, breakfast is the usual Turkish fare - bread, cheese, olives etc., with a different hot selection every morning. Evening meals consisted of a buffet containing loads of salads, a soup, and various changing hot meals. However, none of it is labelled - so good luck guessing which things you like!

The card system they use for the billing of drinks etc. is also an issue if you are sharing the room with someone. They would not issue two cards for the room, and everything is charged to the room so if splitting the bills it is essential that you hang on to all your signed receipts until you pay.

The prices are ok, 3.5TL for a small bottle of Efes. Cocktails at 10TL. Lunch menu very limited though.

STAFF:
The staff I'd spoken to during my two week stay were a bit hit and miss. Half of them friendly and nice to speak to, the other half would barely look at you while you attempt communication. A little frustrating at times.

THE HOTEL:
The room I stayed in was big enough for three, had a pool-side view and a nice surround of the mountains. It was clean, tidy and in a good state of repair.
If you spend any time in the hotel the pool is great - nice size, with loads of sunbeds. There is a kids pool, but that was at the far side well away from the pool bar. Down by the pool bar there is a pool table, a ping-pong table and a couple of fooz ball tables.

Internet facilities exist, but be patient - the single PC is 100 years old ;-)

Entertainment was very poor, with literally only a couple of dance shows in two weeks. We weren't even allowed to switch over the projection TV system in the bar even though we were the only people there. All they showed was a channel that was the equivalent of "You've been framed" or "Candid Camera". We were there during two weeks of Euro International Football and they wouldnt even put the Turkey game on!

After a mixed first week, we ventured out every night and nearly always ended up at the Shamrock Irish Bar down near the Calis bridge. Great night out and very cheap!
