“A wonderful holiday, at this quiet time of the year.”
Reviewed 21 October 2011

I always bear in mind, when I review anywhere for Trip Advisor, what I actually paid for my holiday and what I could therefore reasonably expect to get for my money in exchange. In this case the cost (Thomson) was very cheap indeed for a week for two people- the cheapest foreign trip we've ever done- and I do feel that some earlier reviewers might have lost sight of this. Evin Club doesn't pretend to be anything other than 2-star apartments with an attached restaurant-we only wanted a clean, friendly base from which to explore the area- and it was wonderful value for what we paid to stay there.
We hadn't ever been to Turkey together before this October and were concerned, after we'd booked our stay at Evin Club and then read various Trip Advisor reviews, that firstly Marmaris and secondly the Club itself would be a rowdy, noisy place more suited to lively 18 to 30 type holidaymakers (we are both in our fifties.) Actually in October we need not have worried- we have stayed at far noisier hotels even in laid-back India. A lot of the bigger clubs, bars and discos along the front were either closed or very quiet and we enjoyed exploring the Old Town and the Bazaar as well as the harbour area. However, I personally would not go in high summer. I guess Marmaris would be a different place.
Most of the clientele in the Club at this end of the season were mature couples, with several younger guests who usually stopped by for a drink or meal in the evening and then went out, and one or two families with young kids.
So was it 'noisy'? Well, I agree that you should be aware that there is 80's music piped to the pool area, but we tuned it out after a while when we were by the pool or in the restaurant (and we liked some of it) and in any case we do not spend the majority of our time on any holiday sunbathing or swimming in hotel pools, although we found it all too easy to relax when waited on hand and foot! I myself could have stayed at the club all day and not be distressed by the music- it's definitely not as loud or revolting as the stuff pumped out by the loudspeakers at the hotel where we stayed in Tunisia last year. Russian/middle European disco music is far worse. Take my word for it.
In our opinion the club deserves its good reputation for cleanliness, good food and friendly service. The whole place was scrupulously clean and well maintained, our apartment light and modern and equipped with enough utensils and crockery to produce basic holiday meals such as pasta or salads- although we ate in the restaurant every night and just made ourselves cups of tea in our room.
We thought both the Turkish specialities and the various steaks in the restaurant were delicious and we were prepared to pay the quite modest prices asked by the Club, but there is no doubt that if you want to schlep into Marmaris you can get meals and drinks cheaper elsewhere. We tried one or two other recommended places in town for lunch and decided we preferred the Club, so you pays your money and you takes your choice.
We were blown away by the friendliness, hospitality and dignity of the Turkish people we met everywhere we went. All the waiting staff at Evin Club work hard from dawn to the end of the night and are kind, attentive and cheerful- and they suit their approach to the age of the guest they are serving! What's the point of huffing and puffing when they flirt with attractive young women? They didn't ignore us at all, nor the families with kids who were eating in the restaurant, so we didn't mind. Our cleaners were sweet, friendly and very efficient and Isobel, Dot and Ali in reception were so helpful and informative- and Ali was a mine of information about Old Marmaris.
I know it is boring just reading superlatives so if I had to pick on anything at all I would just say that Turkey is a smoker's paradise- and this includes the club's restaurant where there are no restrictions as there are in the UK. This may or may not suit you but it was widespread everywhere we went.
All our excursions were superb value for money and I recommend a trip to Pamukkale to paddle in the hot thermal waters of the travertine terraces then explore the ruined Roman city spread out along the hillside behind. We have never seen anywhere in the world like this.
I have no hesitation in recommending Evin Club- we loved it and Turkey and will definitely go back when we get the opportunity- but I think it would pay to research the time of year when you go, depending on your tastes and inclinations.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view rather than a road view and do ask if you want a higher one with peace and quiet...

we spent 2 weeks at the evin in september the check in was quick and efficient we e mailed before and asked for top floor away from noise and thats what we got. The rooms are really clean and throughout our holiday they were cleaned every day by the best cleaners you will find . The pool is large and clean my son tyler spent hours in there . We didnt stay at the apartments at night as we wanted to see all marmaris.
We went on 4 trips all booked by local organisers the best was jeep safari.
Theres nothing much for kids to do but they dont advertise it so we got exactly what we thought we would . Overall a great apt in a good location and hi to dot and izzie that will do anything to help

Firstly the positive. The room was spotless and the standard maintained throughout. However the cooking facility was basic with a two ringed hot plate which we did not use.

The staff were excellent, friendly and efficient although this is the norm in Turkey.

Two major issues.

The prices were expensive compared to the resort generally. Bottle of Efes 5.90TL, within Marmaris it was at usually 5TL, but very easy to find 4TL and even on the seafront 3.5TL - a massive difference. Not sure why so expensive.

Biggest problem we found was the noise within the general area. The first full day there we sat around the pool. In the morning the music, which is piped through quite loud, was at least of a gentle nature and a selection of what I would call proper music (I am about 50). However after noon you are subjected to hours of what these days laughingly passes for music, that incessant moronic thump thump probably written by chimps. You cannot relax, it just goes through you. So if you are looking for a relaxing sunbathing session, Club Evin is not for you.

We escaped each morning to the beach, a 10 minute walk but we knew that. Free sunbeds with your drinks bought to you all day. Cheaper drinks.

Unfortunately when you return to your room to relax for a while before venturing out in the night you are met by THE NOISE. You cannot get away from it, it reverberates throughout the corridors and you have it from the pool for a stereo effect. It is turned off at the pool about six o'clock but not at the food/bar area. this does mean that you are unable at times to open your balcony windows, you have to balance up fresh air against the NOISE.

It can also be noisy through the night, I accept this could be the case in many places, but you had the feeling no-one much cared.

This was was for the money a fair hotel. Yes the walking to the front can be tiring after a while, but there are areas at the back of Marmaris within five minutes of the hotel where we spent several enjoyable nights. I feel it should perhaps be advertised as being for the younger holidaymaker, or older, who may perhaps enjoy this NOISE. There were older residents than us who were noticeable in keeping their balconies closed. We saw people leaving for home the same time as us for the first time, these had also obviously escaped during the day.

If this hotel had been properly described as NOISY there is no way on earth we would have stayed. It did spoil our overall enjoyment of the holiday.

we have just returned from evin, on the basis of the good reviews and we were not disappointed.we were given room 3001 which had great balcony and private.
The owners izzy , mehmet and there son ,and staff really do make you feel welcome, unfortunately the waiters can get to overwhelming,we ate here 5 times, they do a special menu deal for 20 lira which we could not fault.and as said they would randomly give us freebies.
They had a turkish night ,whilst for a small place they tried to many acts (who all wanted tips) the main act was great but the support acts could have been reduced, also the BBQ food was the worst meal of week for us.
In general the food was very good apart from i had a t-bone,fillet steak and both were bland and tasteless(try anfi restaurant opposite amphitheatre and they give you free breakfast with your steak as well)
The best entertainment for us was watching the waiters fawn over the girls,so if your
female and young you will get attention!! The staff I like to mention Dot on reception if you want anything see her and alistair so full of energy and hasan .The biggest tip from us went to the 2 cleaners. always a smile when you met and very good at their job.
We went on boat trip booked with agent up road for a whole day with lunch and inclusive drink for 45lira for 2 of us .amazing value.recommended.You will get hassled when out for restaurants and shopping. you will get some amazing value meals, but beware down harbour as they advertise cheap drink ,but when you go in they charge you for large drink ,claiming that price was for small drink(i e ask for tea ,beer you will get a large one without asking).
This was our first time in turkey and loved it ,there are some very nice people around and we never felt unsafe, It reminded us of spain in the 80,s.it is a great value holiday,I hope we have ,nt been spoilt by starting at evin .From the time you arrive till your coach departs the family and staff will wave you with a smile

This is the 1st review i have ever written and probably one of the few i will ever write. Me and my girlfriend stayed at Club Evin for 2 weeks in september and it was such an amazing holiday. I couldnt list a single fault with the accomodation. The food in the restaurant was absolutely amazing. I had fillet steak a number of times and doubt i will ever enjoy a steak as much as what i did at Evin. Such great value and such a wide range of choice. The staff are absolutely remarkable. I would be surprised if you came away from Evin without feeling you made friends. All the staff are so friendly, humorous, helpful and understanding. They seriously cannot do enough for you. They serve you food and drink all day around the pool and the best thing is that seem to absolutely love their jobs! There is a young lady called Isabel who is always at the complex and knows alot about the area. She can give you directions of where to go, what to do, how to do things and is British so is very easy to communicate. The owners son is one of the nicest business men you will meet in turkey. On a couple of occasions he sat with us in the evenings and shared drinks with us often treating us to a jagerbomb. I found that we always received something complimentary everyday, wether it was fresh watermelon, chocolate cake, a shot or even popcorn. They are very relaxed when it comes to settling your tab, on a couple of occasions we let it run for 2 or 3 days and it ammounted up to nearly 500 lira with any hassle to settle it. The pool is very large and their was more than enough sun loungers. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Our rooms were cleaned everyday and the cleaners seem to note when you are out as to avoid disturbance which we loved. The shower was amazing! Just as good as a £500 power shower. The airconditioning worked very well and was well worth the extra £75 lira. The complex is only about a 10 minute walk from marmaris center and there are plenty of buses to catch for quicker travel. Isabel can help with which buses and where to catch them from. There was a travel agency opposite the complex on the main road which we used to book all our trips. The guys name was Al and spoke very good english. He was very friendly and we felt safe booking our trips from him and also saved a lot of money. His trips were at least 1/3rd of the price of booking with thompson. The transport he arranged was on time everyday. The only bad experience we had during our 2 weeks was a restaurant named September. The food was shocking, cold and took ages to come out. Might the slightest of complaints in which caused the manager to go balistic. He got very aggresive and called over the police instantly who were not the slighest bit interested so i would strongly recomend you stay away from that establishment. Will definetely be returning to marmaris in the future. Great value, great weather and great excursions. I strongly recomend scuba diving. Thank you Club Evin for an amazing holiday. 100/100. 5*

Just got back from a weeks stay at EVIN.
Don't know where to start, warmly greeted by Dot and Izzy at reception upon arrival, Shown to room by Alistair, Room was lovely and spacious, very clean, and comfortable.
After the 1.5hour transfer from airport, complimentary cocktail was very welcome indeed!
Staff all immediatley friendly, and warm. Felt at home on the first night!
Ended up eating at Evin every evening, the food was fantastic, didnt feel the need to go anywhere else! everyone we spoke to around the hotel agreed// people came from other hotels to eat at Evin!

Dani got a birthday cake from the staff and a sing song :) nice touch!
By day 3 we felt like friends with a lot of the staff, and even some of the guests and could have a laugh with them.

Only a pleasant 10 minute walk to the beach, and 25 minute walk to the pretty harbour and the hustle and bustle of the resort.
But far enough away from the hustle and bustle for some peace and quiet if you wanted it.

Lovely clean big pool, and all rooms had nice balconies.

Got on really well with all the staff, they all work very hard, and go the extra mile to keep you happy! :)

Had some fun times with Ali, and Patrick from the shop up the steet too.
We miss you guys!

Thanks all-
Ali's Dad and Ali, Dot, Izzy, Murat, Deno, Pedro, Hassan, Alistair, Ulash, the fab cleaners
and too the AMAZING CHEF!!

Cant wait to come back, sad to have left! :(
Can't get our fab holiday out of my head, and miss the people.

Take care all till next time
