I stayed in the hotel for 14 days and had a nice holiday.Of course there are better hotels than this, but I just paid Euro 13.50.It included a normal turkish breakfast and aircondition. For a two-star hotel the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom could be better with shower seperate from the toiletfloor.

We booked this holiday 12 months in advance and was told it was a good place to stay well that is the understatement of the year it was absolutely disgusting. There was water running down walls and iside on the stairs which was very dangerous any could have been killed. The rooms were so small it was like being in a rabbit hutch. The restaurant was filthy ,one member of staff stood on the tables bare foot to water plants never changed table cloths in fact we was there for 2 weeks and table linen was never changed.Staff was very anti British and verbally abusive. We was suppose to have bed and breakfast but for three mornings there was nothing, and when there was turkish breakfast it was infested with ants.No hot water for days.A place to avoid if you want a good holiday

We chose Star hotel thinking it was ideal for two 18 year old girls seeing as it was only 2-star and cheap and we knew we would be out most the time, (on the beach during the day and clubbing at night) but I wouldn’t recommend it to teenage girls on holiday on their own!

Arrival:
Firstly, we arrived around 6am and were greeted by a man we called “Beardy” who just led us into this door which turned out to be a lift! He gave us a key and told us to go and find our room. Not very helpful. And t¬hat lift is not a lift- it’s like a cupboard that moves up and down!! It even broke down once so we just took the stairs most of the time which was safer!

Room:
We had a twin room which was small but we really came to like it. Balcony was small but was good for drying wet towels or clothes on or just sitting out in the evening. It was clean and presentable even though furniture was abit rough around the edges. The en-suite was funny, as the shower is basically a shower heard stuck to the wall with a random drain in the floor of the bathroom. This meant when you had a shower the whole bathroom flooded and there was a risk of slipping on the floor. But we got used to it; I mean it was a 2 star after all. The floor is swept and mopped everyday by the cleaner. Oh by the way the cleaner is SO LOVELY, if you see her please be nice to her! She’s very sweet and cleans all 30 rooms herself everyday in over 40 degree heat. I mean she does sometimes forget to change your bin but if you politely ask her she is more than happy to do it!

Staff etc:
Along the duration of our stay, the staff accused us of being slags just because we went out at night (we left around 11 most nights coz clubs don’t get kicking until half 11 or so). They would talk in Turkish about us and it was very rude! Going out at night was like a walk of shame coz you have to walk past EVERYONE including guests and they all stare at you and you just know they’re talking about you as you walk out. Me and my friend are respectful girls that just finished our a-levels and we weren't going on holiday to sleep with lots of men! Although English girls have that reputation were not all like that so the fact they thought that of us was just rude and offensive. We’re paying guests we don’t expect to be accused of being slappers just coz we want to go clubbing on holiday! Also they say not to bring any food or drink into your room but we did anyway coz to constantly buy food and water from the hotel would be a rip off especially as we were getting through several bottles of water a day! We used to buy multipacks of water and keep them in our room. Anyway they judge you for this and if you don’t eat dinner there every night then you’re seen as being a traitor or something. But we would much rather eat at a nice restaurant on the beach than stay at the hotel to eat all the time. Oh and the breakfast was very bland and we never bothered getting up for it. Bread, melon, boiled eggs and olives was all they had and you had to pay for drinks even though it said breakfast included! Surely that should include drinks especially as we only drank water or ice tea at breakfast the few times we did have it. The manager was lovely though even though he is quite shy.

Nightlife:
If you’re into proper nightclubs then go to Bar Street. (15-20mins walk from hotel) Tip: Don’t buy drinks in the clubs on Bar Street!! We once paid 40 liras (£16) for two vodka and cokes!! If you want a drink before going to the clubs, go to an off license (there is lots along Bar Street) and get some there. The shopkeeper will even hand you plastic cups when you buy drinks in there!! You can sit on the wall overlooking the marina and have your drinks then when you’re ready head to the clubs. Our fave club was Back Street, it was open air and had a pool at the back which people just jumped in and danced in! Great fun! Especially when you get too hot dancing. But Joy had the best foam parties – the foam literally rises up over your head and I’m not exaggerating.

If bars are more your thing, go to long beach which is basically the other side of Marmaris and less than 10 minutes walk from Star Hotel. Drinks here are cheap and these bars get very lively and are much less low key than the clubs on Bar Street which get a bit wild!

Food:
We ate at the hotel a couple of times out of courtesy and it was nice but not as good as the restaurants along the beach. It was also very expensive to eat here! However on Mondays the hotel has a Turkish night which is £10 and entertainment and dinner is included. The food was DELICIOUS and I would defiantly recommend this.

Overall, this hotel suits anyone that doesnt spend alot of time in hotels and gets out a lot. Good for families and middle age people. NOT ELDERLY because the Rosy Apartments next door play loud music by the pool all day and sometimes til late at night.

We went for 10 days and on the first day the staff were wonderful but the food and drinks were expensive compared to the venues on the beach so we didnt eat there. from then on the staff forced a hello but that was it. It is only bed and beakfast(which was jam and toast , melon or boild egg) so we felt the money paid was a bit of a con. The room was spacious but balcony very small. There was no fridge or cooking facilities as advertised so bottled water went warm in a matter or minuites. Also after a week the bedding had still not been changed so had to complain at reception, it still took another day for it to be done and we went home the day after. The floors were swept and mopped daily but the bathroom sink and toilet were never touched while there. Will definately go back to Turkey as the resort is wonderful but will never return to the same apparetments.

My boyfriend and I visited Turkey, Marmaris the last week in June 2007, unexpectedly the temperatures raised to 49c in the heat wave so beware if you don't like it hot, hot, hot as Turkey is just a stones throw away from Africa so the heat could easily surge again.
We stayed in the Star Hotel see link to site - [--] The hotel is situated 5 minutes away from the beach and a 15 - 20 minutes walk away from Bar Street.
Surrounding the hotel is a huge selection of all night bars and restaurants. Therefore we rarely walked to bar Street and visited the bars & restaurants on the beach front mainly.
The Star hotel is a place that I would highly recommend. The basic rooms compromised of an ensuite toilet shower and wash facility, dressing table, wardrobe, bed and balcony. Although these rooms were basic they were clean, tidy and when on holiday out every night do you really need 4 poster beds and mini bars?
Our stay at the Hotel included a free buffet breakfast, this wasn't anything special but did set you up for the day, the buffet offered a selection of breakfast snacks, fresh bread and butter, a selection of jams, boiled eggs or fried on request & cheeses etc.
We didn't eat very often in the hotel but when we did the lunch time and evening food offered was fantastic, the pizza's were amazing and the Turkish foods such as skewered meats etc were great!
All the food and drink in the Hotel was of a very reasonable price no more than £2 for a beer and meals were no more than about £5 per course.
The last night we were in Turkey the Star Hotel had a Turkish night which was brilliant for £10 you were given one drink, there was a huge Turkish buffet and BBQ all very tasty, the entertainment was fantastic, break dancers, belly dancer and snake charmer. Entertainment is not offered every night and normal days there will be just an album on loop.
The hotel has it's own pool which was quite small, but was cleaned daily, in turkey most Hotels will let you use their pools even if you are not staying in their hotel, you just have to buy a drink, so we went to a couple of 5 stars bought drinks and used their gorgeous pools, (cheeky I know!!)
All the staff who worked at the Star were friendly helpful and pleasant, the manager there could not do enough for us.
On Thursdays the derelict market building across from our hotel became a huge bazaar, selling groceries, clothes bags and some beautiful Turkish jewellery and pottery, make sure you keep bartering if they don't chase you when you walk they can't go any lower. If you do decide to buy something make sure you are 100% sure you want it before handing over your money as there is no getting it back after.
2 minutes away from the star was a lovely restaurant called Jana's we ate there 3 times once for breakfast and twice in the evening the Turkish food offered was fantastic.

If you do visit Turkey I would highly recommend going on one of the trips offered by all the agents there, you can't miss them there is one on every corner, we visited a water park which was great fun and went on a boat trip which was my favourite part of the holiday, it was great! It cost about £15 each, all drinks were free there was a fantastic BBQ meal with pasta which I think was the best food we ate there. The boat makes a few stops for you to feed fish and swim in the sea. They drive slowly and in the calm weather there was no swaying, so no sea sickness, we were taken to a little island where you are given an hour or 2 to explore and shop, the shops there were a little more high class than the usual Marmaris offerings of designer rip offs, selling beautiful Turkish furnishings and ornaments, pots, etc.
My only regret was missing out on the Turkish baths which were highly recommended by then, but you have to go on the first day as it can ruin your tan.
I also regretted not visiting the ruins but it was far to hot!!!
