Arrived at the start of the season, and as expected, there is still some work going on. This isn't a problem. The lobby looks great as do the new upgraded rooms. A few niggles such as the air con leaking so much we had an extra shower in the room, the real shower wasn't sealed properly so all water hitting the walls, was going directly onto the bathroom floor. Only a third of the lifts are currently working and this isn't too bad when the hotel isn't full. It is now and still only two lifts are working. The other lifts look equally as good, I just wish we could actually use them. No surprises if I say that the reception attitude hasn't changed- they are still grumpy, even more so now they have to wear these awful pastel blue jackets. The new dining area is fantastic with an all weather outdoor seating area. The food and the waiters are still just as good as they have been in the past.
The hotel has recently changed hands, and you can see that the huge refurbishment programme is being paid for by (guess?) the guests... A huge hike in the beach, lobby and pool bar prices, and not just by one lira. Today our breakfast tea consisted on a tea bag per person rather than the usual pot. The lack of waiting staff means that tables are getting fuller and guests are having to wait longer to be served. Has the Grand Azur just out priced itself in Marmaris? Lots of changes occurring day by day, it would be great if the changes were communicated to the guests, rather than leave us all to get slightly frustrated at a later date. Grand Azur needs to decide once and for all if they are to use towels cards or not, when they have made that final decision, please let us know. It saves embarrassment at a later date.
The entertainments team are a lot friendlier than last year. They seem to be making an effort to let us know what is going on entertainment wise. The shows have just started and there was a ral good Turkish night.
