“Just don't know ?!?!”
Reviewed 12 May 2014 via mobile

We have just spent 2 weeks at this hotel and honestly don't know what to make of it ! .... Our room was tiny with two little wardrobes containing 5 hangers each.we asked for more and we're given 2.. This wouldn't really have been an issue had we not been staying for the amount of time we did.
Our house keeper was truly fantastic, she always had a smile and looked after us very well leaving us water and lots of coffee etc.
Clean towels everyday and sheets every other. ( we tipped on the first day maybe this helped lol)

As for the hotel itself ... Toilet areas were dirty,no paper on several occasions, people who were unable to actually get their business in the pan many many times which was just vile.
Bar staff were great but hygiene wasn't their strongest point. I.e scratching their armpits, nostrils etc then handling your glass in your drinking space.
You have to pay for drinks after 11.30 but was never once able to actually do this as u just get told "bar is closed"

Food .... Hmmmm .... It was ,to be perfectly frank .... Crap! It was boring, repetitive and always always cold. .... They do however have a microwave should u want it reheating lol needless to say we ate out after several attempts to try and enjoy it.

The hotel next door is going through major refurbishment so all we heard for 2 weeks whilst trying to relax in our shoebox or by the pool was drilling, banging shouting and every other noise u expect from a working site.
The pool bar was ok, nice chicken wraps and cold chips etc ... But again the staff were lovely as they had been throughout the hotel.
All in all I feel Thomson have bigged up this hotel to something that it is defiantly not...I'm struggling to say something else positive other than the the staff and we'll .... I just can't sorry
This was our first and very last visit to turkey.
P.s Nicola the customs relations manager was brill, helpful, friendly and very helpful.

We struck lucky booking late and going on Easter Monday seemed to get a fantastic bargain. That said we have been to many Platinum hotels before and this whilst very good this hotel slightly misses that standard. The hotel itself is modern and looks lovely and all the staff are friendly and eager to help. It being the start of their season a few were quite inexperienced but nevertheless very keen. Service was quick if occasionally a little too eager.

The bedrooms are large but a little narrow. We had three beds in our room and there was only just adequate storage space for two people. Towels were changed every day but bedding wasn't changed during our weeks stay. Non Platinum features, amongst other minor issues, were having to pay for a safe, paying for ice cream, poor quality of night time entertainment.

Pluses were the food which was a constant high quality and the willingness of the staff to provide what you wanted. Breakfasts had a great choice Eggs(fried, boiled and omelettes) and a pretty full continental style with meat, cheese, salad,s etc. Main meals tended to have a couple of chicken dishes veal and fish dishes as well as vegetarian options. There was also Turkish cuisine to try. We lunched in the main restaurant which was fine although there were beef burgers, pizza, fish and chips etc. at the pool bar.

Also wifi was available in our room(We were on the third floor) which we did not expect - it seems they were trying out a new internet provider as there were two available. TV channels were poor unless you paid For SKY etc.

Drinks were served quickly at meal times and by the end of the week the waiters were anticipating our drinks preferences. All were extremely helpful and friendly.

There is a nice walk along a beautiful promenade to Icmeler and the other way to the centre of Marmaris. Take the dolmus ("Stuffed taxi"} back for only 3 and 2 lire respectfully

We had one or two minor issues with the safe and window locks but these were dealt with very quickly.

We all thought that the hotel signage could be improved to assist the early days of your stay. Finding the heated pool and the place to collect towels was not straightforward.

All in all a great holiday at a hotel where some improvements would quickly raise the standard from already good to very good.

Room Tip: A higher floor. We faced the road but had little road noise due to the new double glazed windows...

We stayed here for a week at the end of April and had a lovely time. The weather wasn't great for the first few days of our holiday so we did spend quite a bit of time in the hotel and we never got bored. Everything is very clean and well-presented. The rooms are a decent size, clean and comfortable. The food was great, plenty of variety and there's something for everyone, although the restaurant did get pretty busy towards the end of our stay when the holiday season started and we had to queue a bit for the food. We particularly enjoyed the snack bar at the pool which does nice chicken wraps! Il Primo a la carte restaurant was also good, we got very friendly service. When we arrived in our room there was a nice sandwich each and some juice for us because we arrived late and missed dinner, which was a nice touch. The staff are very attentive, efficient and friendly, especially Dean, Mekin and Huseyin in the bar- your glass won't be empty for long!
We didn't use the pool much because it was a bit chilly after the bad weather, but we did use the indoor pool in the spa which was so warm is was like a bath! Our only niggle was that the animation team and the man from the spa would come round and chat to the guests regularly to promote their activities, which was a bit annoying if you just wanted to relax by the pool with a book. However, there were some fun activities and the entertainment was good if that's your kind of thing.
If you're going with Thomson, I would really recommend the Dalyan check out trip if you have a late flight home. It was really good value for money and a lovely way to end your holiday with a mud bath and some turtle spotting, and saves you sitting around all day after checking out on your last day. We also did the Turkish bath and the Rhodes trip with Thomson which were both good. Paula the rep was really friendly and helpful!
Overall, I wasn't a massive fan of Marmaris itself, but I think the Blue Bay hotel really made our holiday.

Room Tip: I heard some people on the ground floor complaining about noise from the lobby bar/kitchen. We had a...

Atmosphere is good, many atractions by the pool, animation team is trying best to create a new atractions for guests. Animator Sunday is very funny :-)The hotel is very clean. It is near the sea. And You can walk to the marina (Marmaris marina) just in 20 minutes by walking on promenade. You will definitely enjoy staying in this hotel. Ps. it is not a hotel for children. Just returned from blue bays platinum last week. Last minute Thomsons deal so excellent value for money. Nothing negative to report as staff very helpful (although English a little basic. ie always saying enjoy your meal when clearing away dishes! and twice left the table during meal for next course to find table cleared and reset, but as hotel and resort quiet do not expect they may be able to be so quick in future weeks).
Staff always pleasant, rooms spotless and interior clean and welcoming. Would recommend for all.
Special thanks to Elhan at the outside pool restaurant, and the smiley eyed chef who could not do enough for us. Both deserve a mention. Good luck to Abrahim the photographer (Max), a most pleasant guy never pushy. Al in all a very pleasant holiday.
