“Will be back”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

Our good friends introduced us to Club Exelsior, all I can say is fantastic. I take my hat off to all the staff they work like Trojans nothing is too much trouble APO was great. The accommodation was excellent. The food was good. Tom organisers his team well with his silent whistle( ha he). The sun bed rush at 230 am was a sight to see very funny. Brilliant holiday met some fantastic people. Will Be Back

Room Tip: pool view a must

2nd time of going here and things have all changed for better.
Tom and all his staff made you feel so welcome.
Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to go to turkey
All the food has improved since our last visit, the only down side was the 2.30 alarm call to make sure that you got a decent sunbed.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2014

We stayed at the Club Exelsior recently and would like to write a detailed review to assist others! We stayed from 30/7-13/8, in our party was 2 adults and 2 children aged 4 & 9.

THE ROOM-
We stayed in the main building, room 310 which was on the third floor facing the main pool, the view was fab and we couldn't have asked for a better one! The room had one master bedroom, a kitchen section which had everything we needed should we have wanted to cook. Two single sofa beds, a large bathroom with children's sized toilet & sink (our little one loved having her own throne!!), a huge shower which could have fitted all 4 of us in with room to spare! The shower had a large overhead spray and a movable spray which was better if you didn't want to get your hair wet / shower the kids. The room was cleaned daily and our beds were made up, the cleaner put in loads of effort leaving us with towel displays daily on the beds and table which often included our little girls teddies. The balcony was large with a table and chairs from here we could watch the entertainment and our 9 year old when he went down to see his friends or wanted to rush of to the pool before we were ready. We had air con in our bedroom and paid to have it in the main living area as well. It is only turned on when you activate it with your keycard but it works very quickly. We paid to have the TV package as well (apparently football season had started!!) so he managed to sneak and watch some football while we got ready. We paid to have the safe in our room as you can never be too careful with your belongings. All of these services were reasonably priced and well worth it. Loads of reviews say the main building especially the pool view side is noisy. Although you can hear the music / entertainment from the bar it isn't that noisy and is quiet by 12am. You don't go on holiday to be tucked up quietly at 8pm do you?!

THE FACILITIES IN THE HOTEL-
The hotel has 3 parts. The annex which is just across the road and the junior block which is next to the main building. All three have their own pools and facilities but you are free to use them all. Our main building had a hair dressers which we used for a Turkish shave, wash & blow-dry & a cut & shape my sons hair. For all services we found no problems, staff were friendly and efficient. There is a tattoo/piercing shop which we didn't use, a jewelers and a toy/bag shop & clothes shop they are priced in English as well as Turkish so you know exactly what you are paying. None of these shops over charge considering they are in a hotel. We actually found them better value for most items and the same price as the local markets. We bought items from the shop such as a purse & teddies and would have brought more if we didn't have luggage restrictions! There is a Spa downstairs which we used for a package. A member of staff was going around the pool to promote the services and gave us a very good deal! I had the VIP package which included a Steam, Sauna, Foot care, Face mask, Turkish bath/scrub & a full body oil massage my son had the children's package which included the same as mine but a chocolate massage instead! The main lady in the Spa was very friendly & treated us very well as did all the different members of staff from each section. The massage hit the spot! My partner won a free head massage / face mask in a raffle and also enjoyed his experience. The reception staff were very helpful we didn't really need to see them for anything other than buying our extra services. We got wifi for our room/around the pool and as you can only link up one product we shared the item between us. There is also free wifi at the bar and some desktops near reception. The main building has one large pool with a small Jacuzzi to the side as well as a separate children's pool with slides. The main pool has 2 blue slides and one large rainbow slide. We brought the hotel CD from Dodo and look forward to dancing while cleaning the house! We also brought DVD's & perfumes from one of the waiters and the perfume smells lovely hours after wearing it and isn't like water and the DVD's work despite others saying there's didn't!!! My partner did have to get up early to save sun beds as some groups of people were saving loads, because the hotel has 3 parts and its free for all to use it was very popular and busy. I did see some people arrive later in the morning and ask for a bed and waiters went to get some more so I don't think it is too much of a problem. There are beds on top of the restaurant available I think if some people didn't reserve so many so early in the morning then it would have been fine. Reserving beds for children that are unlikely to be out of the pool seems selfish!

ENTERTAINMENT-
Turkish Night- This was a BBQ held each Wednesday at the main building and on another night at the junior building. We enjoyed a show of traditional Turkish dancing, belly dancing by both a male & female and Break dancing. Some stalls were set up around the pool that offered loads of bits to purchase. We found the items cheaper at the local market.

Basketball, Robot & Fire/Glass Show- This night had a variety of shorter acts that were all very good. The fire & glass show was put on by the two male entertainers JJ & Carlos it was very entertaining. The following Wednesday we watched it from our balcony and got a different view of the fire show it was good taking photos from a height!

Pool games/Dances- JJ, Carlos, Rose & Sophie worked very hard organizing entertainment for adults & children during the day. Everyone joined in the group dances & the water polo was popular. Sophie organized the kids games that our son enjoyed. Throughout the day & nights they did different things to keep everyone entertained. Bingo was my favourite although I didn't win!

Pool Party- One night there was a pool party which was very successful. The kids enjoyed swimming at night there was a variety of games and also free swimming allowed.

We didn't really see anything else as we were out on most of the nights.

RESTAURANT / BAR-
The main building restaurant was very big you had a choice of seats inside & out. The daily snack menu had loads of variety including pizzas & pastas which we often enjoyed! You could also place an order from your sunbeds from the waiters who often walk round and it is delivered back to your bed! The soft drinks are buy 1 get 1 free all day long and there is a happy hour for local spirits and another happy hour for cocktails in the evening. The bar offers waffles and ice-creams all day long. The evening menu is fab there are so many different options to chose from that we spent quite a few nights here to try the food. We were happy with all our meals and felt like we had travelled the world with the different foods we had! (Chinese, Mexican, Indian, Turkish & not to forget the traditional Sunday roast!) The food is well presented and well cooked. If you went at a busy time there was a small wait for food which we didn't mind. There are two sets of waiters some that take your order using a machine they memorize the entire menu via numbers! and other that just deliver food / clean tables. All of the waiters were fab and worked very hard, we didn't get to know them all but would like to mention a few that we found would do anything to help... Charlie, Apo, Halil, Ahmet & Jack. The hotel offers a service for food called 'TOM', it is a wristband that you load with money to pay for food at the restaurant. You load it up with 500Lira for a 10percent discount or 750Lira for 20percent off. This doesn't include the happy hours but you can use it to pay for all food, ice-creams & drinks while at the hotel during the day or night it is well worth doing this to get cheap food even cheaper!

EXCURSIONS / TRIPS / EATING OUT-
The Big Red Discovery Bus- We booked this trip through Thomas Cook. We highly recommend it, the bus has seatbelts and is open top/windowless so you get a clear view of the sights. We visited a local village, local carpet weaving factory, Mosque, traditional Turkish house, beach cafe for lunch, waterfall & Kizkumu beach (Which has a 'road' through it! and you literally walk out into the sea!) The driver & guide were helpful and knowledgeable of the areas we visited and Turkey in general.

The Sunset Jeep Safari- We also booked this trip through Thomas Cook we have visited another part of Turkey before and have experienced a jeep safari in the day so we thought we would try this one. This trip was well worth the money and also included a meal at a BBQ restaurant. We visited a beach, sat at the top of a mountain to watch the sunset which was beautiful. The jeeps have seatbelts and played a variety of music during out ride, the guide was knowledgeable and we enjoyed it. We purchased a CD from them as one of the guides video recorded parts of the journey, took photos etc it included a cd of music and I'm surprised to have got home and found over 500 songs on it including traditional Turkish music & English chart music. Also included was a photo disc which had some beautiful pictures of Turkey.

Visiting the Dolphins- We booked this through a excursion shop that is just behind the gardens. The hotel tells you not to book through outside agencies and for health and safety reasons I understand seat belts are important etc but they don't offer some trips that we wanted to experience so we went ahead and found no problems using them. Also you get multi-buy deals from them and it works out cheaper. We had an amazing time on this trip the dolphin park is a short bus ride away we were collected and dropped back to the hotel after. We paid for a group meet and met Frosy the dolphin! we wasn't rushed and really enjoyed playing/kissing/dancing & feeding her! It was quite pricey to buy 1 or 2 photos from the photographer here so we got a package for 150 photos on a CD of our meet at a reasonable price.

Atlantis Water park- We booked this trip from the same shop behind the gardens we got a good discount and again were taken to and from the water park. The park is small but had a lot of different slides for all ages. The reason we chose this park over Aqua Dream is you get a wrist band and can leave this park for lunch! It is also on the beach and has a section for its customers. When you leave the water park to the left is a bar which has monkeys!! you could have your photo taken with them for a small price and also cuddle them for 10 minutes at your table, he had a larger variety of animals at night so we went back to that part of the town again to meet the others which included a squirrel!

We visited the harbour quite a few times they have a massive market there offering 'genuine fakes!' which we love. You can get some good deals out of the shop keepers if you are prepared to haggle which we were! If you say it's too much and go to walk out it gets knocked down drastically! The quality of items we have always bought from Turkey is good we brought back loads of items including bags, purses, watches, sun glasses, polo tops, shirts, jeans, football kits, Turkish tea set & tea to name a few!

We visited a number of restaurants that I will write reviews for separately! Some good ones to visit are Divella, Taj Mahal, The Mandarin Chinese, O'Yes & Amigos. We found them all to offer high quality food and good service and would definitely visit them again on our next visit!

KIDS CLUB-
Our little one (4) used the kids club once, they were friendly and helpful and offered a variety of activities. She stayed for a 2 hour slot and had fun. Due to her being very shy and us going outside the hotel to explore a lot she didn't go again. Our 9 year old wasn't interested as he made friends around the pool and they entertained themselves! The hotel kids mini disco was also good.

HOTEL PHOTOGRAPHER-
Eren is the hotel photographer and is amazing! He is often around the pool with his professional camera taking shots of the children/adults (If you want him to) which are later available to view on the photo board. Our little one is very shy and only smiles for Mummy's camera! We informed him of this and our wish to have some nice photos done of her and he made an effort to get to know her and speak to her. After a few days she was happily smiling and Eren got some gorgeous poses. We booked Eren to take some family photos of us over in the gardens. In 30 minutes we were done and couldn't wait to see the results! The next morning we looked through the pictures and purchased a package. The same night Eren produced a panoramic photo book of our 53 chosen shots, some key rings, a silk pillow and a large family image. The package was a very good price and well worth the money. You get all of the images to take home on a CD this included all of the images taken around the pool and the booked shoot. I need more walls in my home to put all my favourite pictures up!

We loved this hotel & area of Marmaris so much that we are considering returning next year and would definitely recommend it to our friends & family.

Happy Holidays!!
X

Had a good time at this hotel, rooms are clean, entertainment and staff are great, location is ok. Would definitely go back again. We went to the restaurant a couple of times and the food was good.
Also have gone out to eat, can certainly suggest you go to Two Dragons, on the way to Armutalan centre, good value for money the buffet is great.

We stayed at Club Excelsior main building from 31/7 - 14/8. We arrived early hours of morning and were shown to our room which was room 405, the room is at the rear of the property with not much of a view but was a sun trap and not to noisy, the room its self was a 1 bed apart with a double bed in room and a double sofa bed in main room, small kitchen area with fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, 2 ring hob so if you want to cook you have everything you need, the bathroom was a large walk-in shower, 2 toilets 2 sinks mini version for small kids to use which is a great idea, now the hotel has a spa, tattooist on site, a hairdresser and a bag shop, reception staff are really friendly, the pool is a good size with 2 slides available to use, also a baby pool with slides for young children, entertainment around the pool is hosted by Carlos, JeJe & Rose, they are all brilliant and really funny so make sure you get involved with the games and pool dances, the bar and restaurant offer happy hour 8 - 9 and bogof on cocktails between 9 - 10, soft drinks are bogof all day which is great, the snack menu is great and just about everything comes with chips so your never hungry, the staff are all really friendly and helpful some funny characters got to mention Apo & Jack so many others all great lads who work really hard to make your holiday special also bar manager Tom (good looking bald man) keeps a keen eye on everything always walking around making sure everything is how it should be, now only ate in restaurant once as we like to eat out but was a varied menu and very nice. Local amenities you have a small supermarket just left outside of hotel which stock basics or if you look across the road there is a park and another supermarket which is slightly cheaper and sells frozen water also exchange rate was 355 and shows you on calculator and counts it out to you also very friendly (highly recommend) weve been home less than 12 hours and are booking up for next year again we had an great time at Exelsior and highly recommend this hotel the people and place are awesome

Hi
Booked the Excelsior as it had been upgraded in 2013 and looked good on Tripadvisor
Bokked a 1 bedroom apartment and when we arrived and opened the door we thought it was a studio, 2 beds made up in the living roon/kitchen area, the room had wood panneling and we did not notice the door handles, opened the first door large bathroom with 8ft walkin shower 2 toilets 1 for a small child to use 2 sinks 1 that a small child could reach Brilliant
Opened the second door bedroom are again good size 2 single beds large wardrobe and flat screen TV
Opened the balcony door good size 1 small table and 3 chairs and could possibly fit 6 adults quite easily and was south facing getting the sun arround 13.00 with a pool view Fantastic
good fridge with upper freezer , aircon in bedrro free kitchen living room area had to pay for in the second week as it got quite hot
Tv in living room area had to pay for £7 per week
You are only a few mins to the resteraunts and shops in Armulutan and a slow 15min walk to the beach
We neve had a meal in the hotel as we like to eat out and explore, but looking as we passed to go out it was allways quite full, entertainment every night finishes at 24.00 and bar open till 03.00
Great kids area for younger kids and good pool slides
You will struggle to get a sunbed after 07.00am in the morning as we seen people putting towels down at 03.15 as we were having a coffee before we went to bed
If you like a quite pool use the smaller pool at the Annex, you get the sun all day there and when we used it you could get a sunbed no problem about 30 beds
This is a good hotel, the best we have been to in the 4 years we have been coming to Marmaris
We will be back to this hotel maybe in a few years time and will take are grandson as it is perfect for the younger kids
Regards David, Jennifer and Shauntelle

Room Tip: if you want a pool view rooms 2oo even numbers have the pool view and sun from 13.00 to sunset
